I loved when Sima checked Carrie. Carrie always felt too comfortable going off on people and her friends don’t check it. Look how she treated Miranda in Episode 5.
Was it not decided after 6 seasons of the original show that it would go out with a bang and be remembered as this fun amazing show. So now they have killed it with 2 bad movies and a reboot.. this is when it becomes a money thing and not quality TV .
I wish this reboot stayed true to the original characters. If they wanted to tell stories integrating "karens", it could've been done with other characters. Miranda was far too sharp and able to read the room to be so awkward and bumbling in this show. This reboot finds everyone with a poc sidekick, the way the original kept a gay sidekick. This is such a blatant cash grab like those SATC movies and it's so unfortunate because there are great stories to tell about women over 40 & 50! None of them are here.
This show is getting so much hate for diversifying but I’m so invested in how they are doing it. Sure, for some, it is clunky but I applaud that it’s daring to start having the discussions that are long overdue. The world has changed so much since it ended it would be weird for it not to be clunky in its depictions of how these characters enter a world changed. I think it’s awkwardness is it’s strength and eventually it will settle into its groove but for now we are watching these characters navigate a new world. I want to know who the writers are? This all feels fresh because it not wrapping everything up in a bow. Sometimes it’s just awkward and through the awkwardness begin real moments between people.
Very well said. I totally agree! That is what I was trying to convey in our recap. They are touching on some heavy issues that can be uncomfortable in real life-- if you're uncomfortable as a viewer, then they are doing their job.
@@NekiaNichelle I did a bit of research on the writing team and it is diverse and they are clearly working together to give us honest stories. Isn’t that what most of us want a diverse writing team to do? I’d think so. I think all the people unhappy with the way the stories are being fleshed out forget that this is a shared effort by a diverse team and they are having the conversation.
I have a favorite channel for recaps now! Feels like I'm just hanging out with friends discussing the show. I liked this episode although I did cringe. But isn't that what happens in uncomfortable situations! I'm so glad we have some poc characters and we no longer have to pretend that NYC is not the most diverse city in country.
I’m sorry Loves but I was like 4 to 5 episodes in before I had to admit to myself… The Reboot was just Terrible🤷🏽♀️ I’ve walked away from this literally disliking Miranda (Uggh), Carrie (never realized how horrible she was as a friend, and Charlotte (I use to think her naïveté was charming but now it’s just annoying) And again - yes we need to normalize women aging but 55 is not old and I’m looking at my average everyday black sisters w/o half the means of these ladies still looking beautiful and unkept as ever There is NO EXCUSE for how they look - I’m sorry No!
Love y’all recap!!! I loved this episode because it’s very real that people develop friendships outside of their core circle AND these women need it! If you’re the only mom in the group you’re going to have mom friends etc. charlotte is my favorite and definitely made me cringe this episode…but that’s authentic to her character! Also, the light bulb moment of oh I don’t know black friends is very true.

What I see are white women upset that there are POCs on the show, and black women buying into it... why??? I've watched since day 1, the girls never had friends of color. Samantha dated a brother and a Latina woman and Carrie had Jennifer Hudson as an assistant. That was it! So, I applaud the show for adding color and I think it was done very well. I mean it's 20 years later, 50+ year old NYC socialites in a post Covid world.... I would expect these women to face new challenges including diversifying their friendships. Charlotte was always an uptight overdoing social climber... what she did in episode 4 was Exactly who her character is...
This reboot has been cringe on so many fronts and I find it sad that it’s perpetuating woke tropes. But, I get it- we all have our own experiences, but I disagree with why races often segregate. I’ve had black, white, Latino neighbors and co-workers and every other race in between around me. So I get tired of being lumped into the ‘dumb white people’ thing but okay… I get it. If people want to continue pointing out all our differences instead of commonalities they’ll keep separating us just like powers that be want. Thankfully the only power I answer to is Jesus Christ and he doesn’t care what race any of us are. Amen!
I'm loving the show, it's giving me everything SATC did but with more depth. I'm especially feeling Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley. And quiet as it's kept, the sleep deprived people who use woke as pejorative getting all upset are making me enjoy And Just Like That more than maybe I would otherwise.
The original show was not great (4 absurdly 1 dimensional female characters with an overall wildly shallow world view). The movies got progressively worse. And now this… Either they cannot find good writers or they genuinely consider their audience to be a bunch of idiots and purposely write idiotic scripts they think will be on their audience’s level.
