I’m always on guard when first hearing a young person’s cover of an older song, because in the American-Idol era there arose an unfortunate urge to soul-ify every song to death, for the sake of displaying one’s vocal chops above all, rather than opt for the subtlety that many great songs demand. But this young lady serves the song first, which in turn illuminates her talent all the more easily than vocal acrobatics could. With a tear in my eye, I’ll say, “very, very well done.” Thank you.

Performance is great, but not to my taste. Am a huge fan of sticking to the original chords, just as Billy Joel thought them out.
