Now subtitled. If you are one of the artists featured in this video and want me to either - 1. Remove the art from the video or 2. Provide a link to more of your art in the description then please let me know, I'd be happy to do so.

I love listening to him say "Melniboné". I would love to hear him read the whole book. :-)

4:08 "for almost every hour of his life he lived 10 years upon the dream couches" 131,400 hours in 15 years. Elric has roughly 1.3 million years worth of life experience where each lifetime he is an ultra powerful wizard that manipulates the entire multiverse by the time he is 15. That is a heck of an origin story

The first great character in the Swords & Sorcery genre to focus on the “sorcery” part, Elric killed EVERYTHING. Gods of a dozen pantheons, demons dripping with arrogance and wickedness, unknowable Lovecraftian presences, rogue Chaos lords, friends, lovers, cousins, sorcerers and theocrats-everything. Elric was the John Wick of fantasy literature. Loved this vid-it was well-done, and worthy of the Last Prince of Melniboné

It’s funny the impact Moorcock had. Even Final Fantasy til the recent ones had influence from it because Moorcock was a huge fan of the artist Amano - who was the FF Lead Character Designer

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Amano even did some art of Elric over the years. It's really great to see all this mixing of cultures, it leads to some cool stuff.

These books are fantastic....unfortunately not all are on audiobook. This is the author's introduction for the 1st book, Elric of Melnibone

@@wikipediaintellectual7088 I've never listened to it on audible, but there is an older version of this on audiobook that has background music and this intro is part of it. I think they only did the 1st two books, Elric of Melnibone and Sailors on the Seas of Fate but never dubbed any more...at least i was never able to find the 3rd and onwards

@@TheRealVorynDagoth yeah, this intro is only on the Audio Realms recording from 2003. I think the ones on Audible are newer

@@KitchenSinkSoup honestly the Audio Realms one with this intro is far superior and my only regret is that they were unable to do the entire series read by the author

Is it me or are there more than the coincidence amount of similarities between Malnibone and the RRM Targaryen?

I read the books so long ago . I completely forgot how much I loved this character . Wow, I can't remember anything about Elric Of Melnibonè . I do know I started reading a lot of fantasy . Maybe I just lost it in the shuffle , now I want to read his adventures all over again .

I've recently had the good fortune to edit and publish a brand new Elric story. Mike is as wonderful a person as you'd hope he is.
