Good grief--he NAILED the guitar part. I don't care what anybody says, that's a difficult song to play, and he killed every note. And not to mention their harmonies; they nail those too. These cats are huge talents.
Eh he missed the last note of the runup at 1:43 (went to fret 14 instead of 13 like he should have and did the first time) but still god tier. Jim also messed up a chord at 1:01 slightly.
Remember that the lead part is actually two harmonising guitar parts,. On the original, Paul and George did it in unison. Josh is playing both parts at the same time using double stops. He only missed one note, so what, no guitarist gets everything they go for every time.
It’s about Paul when he was living in London & John was out at Weybridge - Paul was mixing with the art crowd - John rubbished it to throw fans off the scent
@@InstantKarma1970 completely wrong. This song is about Mick Jagger telling John Lennon about his bird who could sing, which turned out to be Marianne Faithfull as the bird. John said he was tired of hearing about it and ended up with this song. Some seriously cool guitar playing.
I'm 66 years old and have loved the Beatles all my life. Josh Turner is just amazing, this cover version is just fantastic. Harmonies were just spot on! Thank-you.
You’re not wrong, but it’s strange to me that this song isn’t talked about often, but if you get into a specifically Beatles convo with any fan, almost everybody has this near the top of their list of favorites. So “underrated?” Id say yes and no
Anyone else play this video over and over and over and over again? Had to listen to it today as it's John Lennon's birthday! Of course I listened to the original too but these guys do an incredible job - it sounds so clean.
Fabulous, guys!! Simply amazing to see the love and dedication these young lads have for Beatles' music. I'm an older gentleman of 70 who grew up with the Beatles as the soundtrack to my teens. Saw them live in Toronto and became a musician because of their influence. Keep up the great work, guys!!
I'm mostly a metal/rock player, and sometimes it feels so good to hear the roots. Thank you Josh and Carson, you made my year with some of your videos.
Please please PLEASE bring power pop back to the charts by releasing a killer single and album that no one can ignore. You could be our power pop Jesus. What a super version of this wonderful song. Thank you.
Awesome!! That guitar solo looks freakin' hard to master! I think it was played originally by Paul and George separately, which is much easier. Congrats Josh!
💐 Well thank you! You young'uns bring out the happiness in this song in such a pleasant way. And Josh's guitar arrangement is much, much better than very, very, good. So these flowers are for you guys.
I would hope that the same dedication applied to perfecting covers may one day find its way into the guys composing songs of equal excellence, inspired and informed by their skill in studying the music and arrangements of their forebears.
I wonder, do the youtubers get a view counted every time someone watches? I hope so because I have watched this video dozens and dozens of times. I simply adore these guys! What talent!
OH yes, yes, YES! Such a beautiful song captured in sublime arrangement with Paul's warm yet wistful vocal and George's great solo as timeless highlights. I'm not sure if John was ever asked to comment much on that song given it wasn't even the Beatles' own composition, but I have a feeling that despite his voiced disdain for what he called 'Paul's granny songs', I'd say he would have had to grudgingly admit this cover was actually really good. Not R'n'roll - but still good.
Never heard this Beatles song before. Thank you it's amazing. Your falsetto is really great as always. Also love the outtake ! I wonder how you manage to record a song in a public place like this without a huge crowd joining.
Charles I am a beatles fan , i am 60 , i was a fan when I was young and rediscover the Beatles two years ago and I still discover every week a Beatles song. Lennon and Mac cartney wrote 300 songs (not only for the Beatles but gave songs to others singers) in 10 years (and when they stopped together Mac cartney was only 27 ) plus there are harrison’ s songs. This one was on revolver , a lot of people said it is the best album. For me it is is difficult to choose the best album.
Good God Bless these chaps!! Besides properly channelling their talents, they're doing something constructive!! Kudos again to you three!! Again, one of my all-time Beatles songs!!
Jim in the video "You make my dreams come true" = nice guy, will probably become a lawyer, serious dude Jim in the park = hobo with mad tambourine skills :D
John hated this song. He didn't put much effort into it. John was not a good judge of his own stuff. He put a lot of weight on 'being real' -- he liked Help for that reason. One of his faves was Strawberry Fields, which hardly describes anything real. I think when people asked John questions in interviews, he mostly just blathered nonsense. 'Bird' is as real as any song he wrote.
@@ardalla535 : Who can credibly judge the aesthetic opinion of others? Can someone tell you you are wrong for preferring the color yellow over blue? Or that you are wrong for preferring rock over classical? While your opinion is valid as an opinion, simply because you do not understand something, in no way implies it is "nonsense." Besides, any "judge of his stuff" is nothing more than other peoples opinions. Unless you are willing to admit your opinion means less than the opinions of others, then you must admit that _you claiming_ John was not a good judge of his own material is 100% wrong.
@@ardalla535 "And Your Bird Can Sing" is just an ASTOUNDING short piece of wonderful music, joy, energy and passion. Lennon was amazing, but WAY too critical of his own work (from what I've heard).
One of the great underappreciated Beatles songs. The chord changes are amazing. It's over 50 y/o and infinitely better than the shit noise that passes for music today.
The best! AND, please take very good care of yourselves. Singing in close proximity is a sure-fire way to spread coronavirus IF it is present. The world needs you guys to stay healthy. Thanks for the corona relief your music ALWAYS provides.
I do not possess the words to tell you three how much deperately needed bouyancy this short clip provided me those three long years ago. Thank you. Still here. Listening to you. Always. My best wishes to you all.
FFS !! How good are these lads ??? Incredible version of one of my favourite Beatles ones & a timely reminder that we NEED to get music back into public places SHARPISH - Well played & thank you for sharing.
DAMN! I love this. As a guitarist I've been fooling with that riff for forty years. This kid comes along and nails it. Can't wipe the grin off my face. Gonna watch it again. And then again, maybe. Checking the fingerings. Made my day. . .
