Anderson Paak Tiny Desk Concert Reaction and Review!! What is Anderson On?!?! 

Isn’t it nice to listen to real music?! Thank God for Bruno, because his collaboration introduced me to Anderson. I’m an old lady, so wasn’t hip to this legend.

Anderson .Paak whole discography is GOLDEN. Catch up you guys!

You guys are hilarious. Paak wrote Suede nearly 8 years ago as a demo. One of Dr. Dre's collaborators heard it and gave him a call to come work on Dre's Compton album. Dre hadn't even heard it when Paak got to the studio. Dre thoughtt Paak was just a rapper then he found out he was a drummer and singer, too and signed him to his label. And BTW - Paak used to open for Bruno Mars so it's not like Mars just "snapped him up." He's known Paak a long time. Everybody's so quick to give Bruno all the credit for their collaborations but Paak has been doing that kind of throwback R&B for a long time. it's all over his first 4 albums. Hell, in the first 3 Tiny Desk songs he sounds like Curtis Mayfield. Y'all seem a little young...so go search Curtis Mayfield on YT and you'll see what I mean.

He's so talented and charismatic. One of the best live performers I've ever seen

It had been said for the last 6 years “Anderson .Paak is your favorite musical artist favorite artist.” In most interviews from 2016 to now celebrities have been name dropping AP.

Thanks to Bruno for joining with Andy it has given him the platform to shine a light on him to bring him to the mainstream. I had not heard of him until Silk Sonic and then looked him up..now I am a fan of Andy too. Now we know why Bruno hooked up with him because he is also so talented. They are a match in heaven for sure .

I love your groove to the music. Anderson is so smooth ,handsome, and his personality is affectious. His band is awesome. They are great together. I have watched this performance over and over.

You should react to Make it Better, It's as gorgeous as Put me Thru. Anderson’s setting up a wave, the bass feels like it’s riding that wave and all the other instruments and vocals are adding what makes that ride unpredictable but so exciting…so different to Bruno but it’s so easy to see why they spark so brilliantly together. Then there’s that album an Evening with Silk Sonic that takes you in a completely perfect but different direction. I’m running out of hours in the day to include all this in my soundtrack…just pre ordered the Album, which will drop on my birthday 12th Nov. The singing while drumming is a staple of the Black church, which is where Anderson says he really learned and perfected his craft. As a minister I know that’s a fact, because some of the baddest musicians you ever want to hear are playing right now in somebody’s church!

Love this!! Thanks for this one. What a great reaction!! Anderson got the old folks loving him too. I was about 2 years late to the party too. While on RU-vid, this Tiny Desk video kept showing up in my feed, and one day I noticed it had millions of views and I clicked on it was immediately a fan and searched out all his music. Funky, great musicianship, LYRICS, and lots of charisma. Grubhub Live is also a vibe and Malibu just went gold. I listened to that album for MONTHS without getting tired of it.

I think everyone was telling you to listen to this in large part because there was so much goodness, richness and beauty in it (and we DO feel it). Welcome to the party.

Bruno Mars was lucky to have Mr. Anderson Paak the Funk Gawd work with HIM. LOL Dr Dre just gave him a spot at the halftime show playing for Eminem and his good friend, Pulitzer Prize winning Kendrick Lamar was there as well. ,) These young men are beasts and have been for a decade or so now. Bruno Mars is cool but he just gets all of the shine because the mainstream loves "other" folk doing our music.... but I digress. ;)

Just so you can understand what the Tiny Desk series is these take place at the National Public Radio lobby. One of the radio station’s DJ had an artist in for an interview and she asked could she play some music for the staff, she did 4 songs and the security cameras caught it. They quickly realized that that section of the building made music sound so good and they started asking artists to come in to record. One the day of this recording Anderson was in a terrible mood and felt like canceling, feeling he was too big to waste his time, those are his words when he recounts that day. His Tiny Desk is the most viewed. His Tiny Desk is legendary, he said tiny desk changed his whole career and humbled him.

Regarding singing while drumming: It’s one thing to sing while playing a simple backbeat. But what Anderson is doing is something else: He’s playing very intricate stuff with a rock solid pocket. And the feel… He’s completely on top of how soft or hard he needs play every single stroke. Had he not sung, his playing would still have been impressive. But with his committed vocals it’s next level.

I just want to give props to the bass player too. He's an important part of how good these guys are. Such a tight band! Who in the hell is cooler than Andy in this concert? The whole look, the musicianship, the charisma and talent...as Bruno said about him: "He's just incredible!"
