You can tell how genuinely touched Chael is by all that's been unfolding over the past couple of days. The legacy of both these two men only continues to grow as a result.
Oh you know damn well Chael met with the cameraman pre interview to make sure the camera was big enough to capture THEE largest arms in West Lynn, Oregon that made their way to Los Angeles, California.
When Anderson said “Chael, my brother.” At the end, that’s all you need to know about Anderson. I think looking back he knows all that Chael said was not from a bad place, but a way for him to get those fights with the Spider.
Yeah see chael played the heel gimmick perfectly. Unlike Colby who hits wayyyy below the belt but acts appalled that people take it seriously and really brings out the worst in just childish fans who are trolls, chael was a great heel because it didn’t ever come from a place of like hate or disrespect, it was funny, and at the end of the day he could play that role, get big fights off of it, and be entertaining asf without ever once having to trash entire countries, dance on the grave of dead people, call people dead beat dads, or claim someone he wanted to fights wife was a hoe and that he needed a dna test to prove his daughter was his. Chael laid the groundwork for how to be the perfect heel
Yes the odd thing about it is that I think Anderson has always been this way and comes across as a very decent and likable human being, and yet even without being an angry or hateful person he is such a natural when it comes to being vicious and violent. Fascinating guy.
Anderson is the reason that UFC caught my attention and held it years ago. Tuned in for every fight including every PPV with him. I miss the Era of the spider in his prime, my favorite Era of UFC.
Same. I’m 28, and if wasn’t for Silva I wouldn’t have watched. Before then my brothers were big into it, but I thought it was just fat dudes swinging at each other. Then I saw Silva treat it like an art form. Since then I’ve been hooked.
He is very respectful in the cage even, he was one of the few fighters who didn’t land “unnecessary” shots after finishing his opponents he always waited for the ref to step in
He was never "cold hearted" in the Cage. He was always respectfully and full of love for he's opponents. He always worried about them and bow down to them after every fight win lose or draw
i always loved anderson . even in high school back in like 2007 i bought a anderson silva hoodie and it had a bee on it, i can't remember what the brand was but it was before the stupid reebok deal and the fighters could sell their own merch
Same but what I missed early on about Silva because he was so dominant, is he actually cared about the sport, he started taking fights on no notice when guys would drop out or get PED shit, he would fight the tuffest guy even after he got old on no notice, Dana you need me to fill in? Respect.
Damn I love that hug at the end. I literally got a little emotional from it bc you can tell that having Anderson’s respect means so much to Chael. Much respect to the both of these legends 🙌🏼👊🏼
Cant help but feel wholesome after the whole trash talk went down to them now respecting each other and Anderson truly embracing Chael at the end. Legends.
This is what the world needs man. One of the biggest beefs in sports history, Now these 2 brothers can reflect together on the impact they made for the future generation. No matter who won or lost
I love how comfortable Spider is with touching and hugging people, even someone who's (i'm gonna guess) a stranger. It's really common here in Brazil and the best people at doing this are also the ones with most charisma, one thing feeds the other.
Chael elevated Silva's legacy and popularity for sure. People forget that before Chael, Silva was getting shit for his last few performances because he was being too safe or he wasn't trying to end fights anymore. Didn't help that Silva never talked to the fans so all we saw was a quiet champ who used to excite us now taking the easy and safe UDs. Chael bought so much eyes to their fight and Silva overcoming that 5 round beatdown to win it at the end was some legendary story type shit. Silva had so much hype after that and then Silva stopped playing it safe and went back to entertaining fans and he went on a KO vitor right after. That set him on a different level. then he ko'd Yushin and rematched Chael and then ko'd Bonnar as well. Silva was like on an all time high in that period and it all started with his Chael fight.
Thats a little unfair. People were genuinely scared to engage with him. Hes the OG israel. He had embarrassingly KOed so many people that it lead to those UDs. He was always a killer
Just like pretty much everyone in Brazil, I love Anderson, he's getting very funny and have a great energy around him now. And I believe I'm one of the few brazilians who loves Chael too. I just can't be sad when Chael is talking something. 😂
As a fan who's been watching since UFC 1, that was one of the best moments of all time watching those two bury the hatchet with an embrace. Also props to Anderson for the progression of his English, he's really came a long way. 👏
Haven’t been a fan for as long as yourself, but this was really cool to watch. I grew up watching the spider’s era in his prime, didn’t really keep up with the ufc for a while and kinda came back in around the Connor era. I have really fond memories growing up of these guys so it’s especially nice to see two legends of the sport share an awesome moment
I don’t even know the real words to describe that video i just watch other than was just so awesome. Chael and Anderson praising each other and their fight/careers but genuinely doing it is so nice to see
U can tell chael respects silva so much. Not only is silva one of the baddest men on the planet he is also one of the kindest. U can tell its sincere. I wanna c his son fight now
It’s awesome to see these two look back on that time. Even better that they both understand that fighting each other built a lasting legacy for each of them in its own way.
This is an incredible heart warming ending to a most vicious rivalry. You know both humans are God Level when despite being at odds (in the past), they genuinely understand and respect each other to the core. P.S: Anybody remember the Jet Li movie "Hero" where he refuses to kill the Qin emperor? 😅
we are hurting for real role models... thats why this country looks this way... we were blessed with a gift and we are squandering it like it was a gift... the sadness and regret we will feel for not stepping up will be overwhelming...
This was beautiful. I wish could see more of these two, especially, at that BBQ together. The Bad Guy and The Spider breaking bread together. That would be something to behold.
Appreciate seeing this because I dont think it will ever happen with any modern rivalries. Like theres no chance we see this with Jon/DC or Khabib/Conor
I could see Khabib and Connor shaking hands like this in the future. Khabibs straight up said he's gone nothing against him now if I'm remembering the interview correctly, and Connors pretty much like the protégé of Chael with his personality, trash talking for business sake, not personal
This was a great interview! really liked his rivalry and now I'm amazed at the respect they show each other... I would pay to hear the stories they will share during the barbecue Chael's being invited at Anderson's house
It wasn’t really fierce. It was just Chael insulting in a comedic way and Anderson just confused. The first fight was Chael beating up Anderson until the submission. And then the second fight Chael was winning until the back fist.
So nice of Chael to put himself in the same interview, and actually talk to the person he humiliated TWICE. Chael is such a great guy. Undefeated and Undisputed
This is honestly amazing, 2 of my faves, 1 of the grestest rivalries and now they are just causally hanging out doing a interview complimenting each other 🤣
@@flaviomottawav really? Damn! Colby does the same shtick about Brazilians but I felt like people were aware that is just a character he's playing as well
So nice to see that they throw nice compliments together … So sad we don‘t see such good things nowadays or very very seldom because many People lost that sense. Usually when somebody makes 1000 things good and only 1 thing bad than everyone starts finger pointing. That‘s the world we build with our hands. We need more love and bravery. Peace out to them and to all reading this. Think about that 👍🏼✌🏼
