...they sound like a bad Radio 1 Roadshow set from 1985. This may be "the most interesting and versatile" thing you have heard thus far in your short and sheltered life,, but trust me-this is shite. Their "80's collection" they are showcasing sounds like they've found their mum's "Now That's What I Call 80's Music" triple pack of cassettes from Asda... This is actually beyond shite when I think about it. Mixmag used to be good -what happened?

Sad that my local radio station got rid of the 80's show. I was not born at that time, but learn to love it through that show. Glad that these guys did this set. Thanks for helping me to relive some good memories. Also Dr. Beat is one of my all time favorite tunes. Still DJ it when I get the chance.

it's so funny, that damned Erasure track is a bit tricky. I don't know what Vince did there but the way the dynamic groove goes makes the track seem to fluctuate just a little in tempo. Got myself in exactly the same situation before. There are remixes that are esier to fit in if i recall. Poor guys. I saw a bead of sweat for sec. Pulled it off so smoov in the cutover. Great mix. thanks for the vibes

There was a lot of crossover back then between "club" music and pop music. The only pure dance genres of the '80s proper (not including House music which was largely underground until the end of the decade) were arguably Latin Freestyle and its predecessor, Electro (blame the Disco backlash, which made people not want to be associated as a "dance" act). So if you went to an average club in the '80s, you heard a lot of stuff you may also had heard on the radio, albeit maybe remixed. I'm fairly certain that a lot of the songs on this playlist were also played in clubs. If you don't believe me, just watch early Club MTV clips from about 1987 into 1989, lot of pop music on a "dance" show. The actual club music of the time was almost a niche genre that most people weren't exposed to.
