This series hasn't felt like a show, but an actual film made by filmmakers. The Coruscant party scene with Mon Mothma is a perfect scene in every way. I really, really can't believe how good this show is. All expectations of mine have been blown.
Andor is what I THOUGHT all Star Wars would be with Disney budgeting. The best writing. The best sets. The best actors. The best emotion and execution. Watching Andor makes almost all other Star Wars content look like a joke now. Even the Filoni/Favreau stuff everyone creams themselves over feels like kids playing with action figures compared to this. What a masterpiece... can't wait for Season 2!
I could not agree more with you. Andor (alongside with Rogue One) is the only Disney era SW competent enough with deeper meaning behind the beloved universe. A great proof that you do. not need a lightsaber to make a good SW movie.
I also agree. I tried watching Mandalorian again after Andor and I just couldn't do it. It was like trying to eat a bowl of skittles as a meal just after experiencing an evening of fine dining in Paris: fun in small doses but lacking in substance and heart
Call it... war. This is the writing we deserve. I really want to especially acknowledge Rogue One was the best Star Wars flick, dare I say ever. I think it captured what the original trilogy wanted and couldn't do.
@@sharjeelkhan2576 you don’t need to know anything about the story, but you should know at least a bit about the setting I’d say. Basically it’s set in a sci-fi universe with FTL travel and laser guns where a galaxy-spanning republic recently fell and became an authoritarian empire, and this show is set when a rebellion is first forming. It might be a little confusing if that’s ALL you know, but there aren’t really any like, specific story moments from the movies mentioned.
This is a perfect example of how you do a trailer. You’re not getting a synopsis or plot of the the entire series, but it perfectly gives you a setting and a vibe. That’s a trailer!!!
Not to be a bummer. But I really hope this is all about ANDOR not a bait and switch. With what Star Wars and Marvel have been doing, which they only rely on the show title. And completely show other “side characters” as more important. And ultimately give those characters a spin-off. It’s so formulated and repetitive now.
I believe this to be a way more carefully planned and designed background for the show than any other so far. And its all cinematic which creates high expectations and i cant lie im hyped for this one
It's painfully obvious that there is a difference in this show when compared to Book of Boba or Kenobi because it looks like it's a movie with the massive scale of the shots and good special effects. It feels like the budget was ramped up 10x and I'm not sure how it can be so different than the other shows but I'll be excited to watch. Whoever was in charge of the budget and planning for this needs to be at the front of every other Star Wars production
I remember how little interest I had in this show when it was announced. When I saw this trailer I reconsidered, and it made me want to try the show. Now, assuming the final two episodes stick the landing, I genuinely think it's probably my favorite live action Star Wars production, ever
@@thebigshep They’re probably going to rush the ending. They’ve wasted too much time. The plot line about his sister probably isn’t going to be resolved, and we probably won’t get any more flashbacks.
Luthen's speech in Ep10 was epic and deep. The writing for this series is fantastic and the acting superb. The best series out of The star wars franchise yet
@@Wayzor_ in fairness, basically all of star wars guns are slightly modified real life guns. The E-5 is a british sten gun i believe, the sandtrooper gun (dont't remember the name, but its in a new hope and is very long) is a german MG34. the issue is how well known the AK is, and that they didn't disguise at all. besides that, the trailer is fantastic.
There was an ak47 in the first 8 seconds of the trailer.... Starwars essentially invented Sci fi props and they don't even try anymore. Pedo disney is a disaster.
Without a doubt, one of the best things to come out of the franchise. An incredibly grounded Star Wars experience that is also emotional and well written. Not rushed into production, not filled with meta-commentary, marvel humor or stale references to blue milk. Every frame feels like it was lovingly crafted. Every character feels alive. Everything I love about this universe is in this show.
@@fotomaton7852 Yep. Leave it to this show to make me eat my words. Dammit Lucasfilm, why'd you have to do a close up of blue milk just to prove me extra wrong?
@@carlotta4th Greig Fraser. He also did Dune, the new batman and mando season 1. And no, sadly he won't be returning. However, the new guy worked on Game of Thrones and Broadwalk Empire and actually won three emmys, so we should be fine.
The entire show was perfect... The acting, soundtrack, cinematography, writing, everything was on point... Really loved the show... And the finale was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@freemakerthings4518 Understandable. Some people believe the politics were the worst part of the prequels, and they are present within this too. I, for one, loved the Mon Mothma bits though.
@@kr1me2000 Andy Serkis and Stellan Skarsgard acting are top tier level and were highly praised by fans and non-fans alike, and everyone else gave a fine performance. Now please go back to watching the Kardashians.
This gave me chills. I can tell they took their time with this one. That's all we ever asked for, take your time, develop the story, then wow us with the universe we love so much.
@@Valen-xu2wy It's just the truth. OP is speaking absolute facts - he's spot-on with his analysis, hitting the nail right on the head, and I wholeheartedly agree with him.
Tears of joy. I feel like I can speak for a huge chunk of the fanbase when I say that this all we ever wanted to see on screen. This is Star Wars and it finally got the respect it deserves.
@@toddsalisbury3851 And yet - as a 7-year-old, me and my school friends would have LOVED this show. (because we had Blakes 7 - a very similar concept, with high drama and theatre most of the time, and a shootout in a disused nuclear power station at the end ....) "Bagsy be Cassian!" "No Way! You were Cassian yesterday .." "I bagsied him! - you get to be Bix!" "Bix is a girl .. Laura can be Bix!" "No way! - I want to be Deedra!" These are the sort of "debates" we were having in the playground after the original trilogy came out, and when Blake's 7 was on ... a primetime BBC show about a rebel leader sentenced to life on a prison planet by the evil Galactic Federation (on trumped-up charges of sexual child abuse) and their dominatrix female leader, Servalan Subterfuge, terrific acting by superb theatre actors - and amazing well-defined characters, exactly what children love .. even if they're not sure of the context Children would surely love Andor
The fact that it's also made by the same people who made Rogue One, which i arguably think is the best DISNEY MADE Star Wars movie is a huge plus. You can tell they actually care about Star Wars as such as the fans and know how to tell a great story. They really know what they're doing and I can't wait for this to come out!
The difference in the quality of cinematography, lighting, editing and set design between this and all of the other Star Wars shows thus far is just absolutely ridiculous. Finally they have a team that appears to actually know how to change the settings on a camera and use Final Cut.
Andor is not just a good Star Wars show, it's good television. Period. Infact I would say it's easily one of the best shows I have seen. Each and every single episode of Andor is a master craft of direction and story writing and dialogue put to perfection.
Now this looks like a truly cinematic Star Wars series. The Mandalorian has its moments, but the 'volume' can make the settings look so small and constrained when overused (Such as in the Obi-Wan and Boba Fett series)
This is incorrect. BOBF and Kenobi actually used the volume less than the Mandalorian. Tatooine has direct sunlight. The volume can't do direct sunny sunlight due to the interior nature of production. The Tatooine scenes are filmed outside in lots and stadiums with giant blue screens. The Mandalorian Season 1 and 2 used the volume more than any project thus far. It's all about the director and cinematographer.
i just... wish I've never seen this so I can watch it again and relive this masterpiece. NOTHING comes MILES close to this in StarWars universe and FEW other series are equal or around it...
No this show is just way to overhyped peope are comparing it to game of thrones which is way ahead of andor. You go into Andor without watching rouge one and you know he will turn into a good guy at the end. It had only action every 3 episodes and it did not change the pattern this show was extremly predictable @@armstrongQB1
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I was fascinated with Andor’s character of being a morally ambiguous spy who has fought for the rebellion but by questionable methods.
LOTR fans are true protectors of the lore...... starwars fans just rolled over and they made this a political show about trump hahahahaha however i liken the empire to the democrats and we the normal people are the rebellion
And this is why I don't bother watching any new starwars content. Can't stand puffed up egotistical elitists who think they're better than everyone else cause they consoom a product
I seldom comment on YT vids… Just finished watching episode 6 and this series just keeps on delivering. No predictable moments, unbelievable atmosphere and tension and an overall adult tone. Definitely the best Star Wars show for me by far!
@@bbygrlpt2this is basically set on before the original star wars trilogy. Before the rebellion was only being funded. So it can be ok for new star wars fan before they dive in the whole rabbit hole 😅
As someone whose favorite movie is Rogue One, this has made me so excited that I can't put it into words. I can't believe how good everything looks, and I'm so happy they brought characters I wished I could've seen more stories like Saw Guerrera and Cassian.
Prequel series to Star Wars' 'Rogue One'. In an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue, Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a Rebel hero.
Agreed, kenobi and book of bubba were extremely basic and more for kids. Nothing wrong with that but I want Star Wars to lean in to its gritty, rogue one stylized writing. It’d be a massive success
Kathleen Kennedy runs LucasFilm. Thus it will be trash. This is not difficult folks. Even if you banish her from the set she finds a way to FUBAR things. You should know this by now.
Love how morally gray this show is. Successfully made me sympathize with more or less every major and mid-tier character regardless of which side they were on. Furthermore, at least 75% of the minor characters were nuanced and memorable. This is the hallmark of good writing.
I don’t think there was anything gray about this series. While it humanizes characters to understand why or how they became bad and evil, it in no way makes them “morally ambiguous”
!!!(Spoler Warning for anyone who hasn't finished watching yet)!!! ============== ============== ============== ============== Respectfully disagree. Heck, even the Imperial officers in Aldhani don't strike me as bad. They likely had the power to engage in excessive cruelty, but instead chose to dissuade the natives from making trouble via subtle manipulation. I felt way more sympathy for Jayhold and Pettigar than for the sergeant that decided to betray his compatriots after falling in love with a local or the rebels that seemed to have little regard for the harm their actions would cause to average Imperial citizens. However, I simultaneously have to concede the fact that the utter dearth of nuance in TFA, TLJ and TRS may have made this show look much better in comparison. Furthermore, many of the presented situations make it hard to decide who to sympathize with, the Imperials or the Rebels. Luthen doesn't come off as significantly more moral than some high level ISB official or even Palpatine. He views his cause as worthy and routinely treats people as disposable assets. He is also perfectly willing to sacrifice innocents and allies for "the greater good" and intentionally manipulates the authorities into inflicting massive amounts of suffering on the populace in order to achieve said ideal. Furthermore, one can definitely see how people working for and/or living under the Empire could be very justified in viewing the rebellion as a collection of violent criminals, mercenaries and dangerous insurgents. Syril is perfectly justified in his desire to bring the main character to justice. Furthermore, expecting the average person to choose the Rebellion over a quiet and pedestrian existence is highly unreasonable Overall, it's more a matter of whether one values order over freedom or vice versa. In my view, all of this makes for a nuanced story that doesn't merely devolve into a banal conflict between good and evil people.
Re-watching this is all the better for knowing that this show not only lived up to the unexpected hype this trailer created, but greatly exceeded it. Storytelling at it's finest.
This looks genuinely better than any of the other star wars shows - it's cinematic! I'm super excited for this one. I hope the show stays true to the serious and darker tone that the trailers presents.
Maybe its the three episode format. It does look more cinematic as you say. As much as I loved the Mandalorian and Kenobi, some of the scenes were a little bit pantomime.
It looks more cinematic because the dude who is directing it actually knows how to direct. The Mandalorian has been the best Disney+ released content overall imo, not just Star Wars. I think this has the potential to be as good as that but it will be tough to beat. I enjoyed Kenobi and thought it was good but there were things I didn’t like and thought could be better. Deborah Chow wasn’t the best option in my opinion.
What is my sacrifice? I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude.
When a Andor series was announced i thought "We dont need a series for such an minor character" but now i feel excitement! This could be one of the best pieces of Star Wars Media!
Yep! I couldn't really care about this character but I liked Rogue One and now I'm hyped to see what they are going for. At least this show gets a couple more episodes, not just 6. Enough episodes to flesh everything out properly without the need to rush. Might actually be good
@@preiselbaer93 Especially this trailer shows a little more War in Star Wars then other projects. Seems to be a little darker than the usual stuff. At least I hope so.
So hyped for this! I feel like that’s what Star Wars needs though, a show about minor/unknown characters so the writers can do more with them. That’s why I think boba fett and kenobi failed. Because there’s so much love and history for those characters and therefore people have built up how they should be in their own heads.
Yes.. it's about time they stopped giving us "skywalker skywalker skywalker", reimagining beginnings of established characters and start telling us the stories of OTHERS who contributed to the vast expanse that is the Star Wars Galaxy. I think this will be good! We will also get Mon Montha's backstory as well.. :) This seems like it's gonna be good!
This looks great. I think it's a good example of a show where people kind of went in with zero expectations, so everything they've shown so far has blown us away
To me this show seems like reading a novel: layered, tangible, with depth and emotional stakes and tension and always left guessing. The characters are rich and neither good or evil. Some may be on the part of the empire, but even those have nuanced motives. I love this show.
This is possibly the best blend of the prequals and original trilogy I've seen. It captures both of them so seamlessly. I assume they were going for this, and honored them both so well. I hope they are proud of their good work.
lol not really. It doesn't feel like either the prequals or the original trilogy. It feels like its own thing, which is why it is so good. Star wars needs to keep doing new things like this if it wants to continue to have supportive fans.
This was one of those trailers where I just watched with intent satisfaction and intrigue. No over-the-top reactions, no surprises, no anger, no disappointment - just pure, unaffected, inconspicuous satisfaction; I know that's a sign of a strong and high quality project. This show clearly came from the heart from the talent behind it - an artistically driven passion project at Lucasfilm. I know this is gonna be good, because no cheap tactics are being utilised to advertise it - because the people behind it are confident that it's a strong body of art; just, simply put, confident in their brilliant filmmaking and what seems to be an engaging, exciting and potent political drama. I haven't felt this excited for a Star Wars story since the reveal of The Clone Wars Season 7 in 2018 - I couldn't be more pumped for a show which respects George Lucas and both the history and literacy of cinema that came before him - of which he was utmost inspired by too. Please stay optimistic everyone, this is going to be better than any of you are going to expect, trust me. Edit: Well, didn't I tell you? ;)
No disrespect and I really admire your passion - no joke. I just find it hard to believe this will be anything better than what Disney+ has given us so far. Just expecting a 6/10 show with an episode filled with cameo's to carry it
Finally a trailer that got me excited for a Star Wars show! Everything is there, the visuals, the actors, the music, the rhythm! You immediately feel this is cinematic, well because it is! It's directed by top notch filmmakers!
Sorry but if the Obi Wan series trailer didn't get you hyped then you just straight up didn't watch it. Regardless of how you feel about the show itself, the trailer was literally perfect
@@einzelganger6664 I’m glad someone was hyped during Obi Wans trailer. It honestly just made me worried it would be another Boba Fett. The show itself was at least a tiny bit better than that though.
This feels and looks like it's going to be one of the best star wars series to date, the quality looks like feature film quality level (even more so than all the other Disney+ star wars shows)
@@hallohieristniemand2113 huh?? Clone wars isn’t a kids show and andor isn’t beating clone wars. Clone wars is the best star wars media out there. The majority of people agree that clone wars is number1
This really does look like it'll be stellar. The mood just seems so "right" - tense, fermenting rebellion with the big figureheads in Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera driving something underground and DANGEROUS. Really can't wait for this one.
I still don’t understand how Disney has bungled Star Wars as bad as they have…and yet..they somehow managed to produce the best written Star Wars show ever😂
When they announced this show, I genuinely didn't care, but between this and the last trailer... it looks really great. Also, love that they've locked it down to two seasons of 12 episodes each. Means that we don't need to rush, but also have a solid ending to work towards.
After 4 Episodes I’m sure - this is the best Star Wars Series so far! Even much better than the Mandalorian. No fan service, no lazy story telling, great camera work and finally for an adult audience! I love everything of it! The only weakness is the length of the episodes. 🙏
So good to see prequel locations like the senate assembly. This really looks like they took their time and developed a passionate story. This already looks better from a cinematic and writing perspective than any Star Wars project recently
Just watched it a second time. My god. This is more than star wars. This is something so deep. It makes the univers so real. It feels so good and comforting at the same time, a real escape with hope and truth. It had a great impact on me. Actors are so good. Writing is so good. Visuals are so good. Scenes are so good. Every stories. And OMG the MUSIC!!!!!! Only bangers. I'll watch that first season at least once a year
I can't believe how good this trailer is. Seriously whoever made it deserves a raise. The music, the shots, the build up. Straight up gives me chills. Super excited for this show I think it's a much needed take on the series with no mandos and no jedi/sith
I work for the company who made this trailer. Thank you so much, buddy! I’m making a collage of comments like this to give to the team. You’re too kind!
Yes. No Mandalorians and no Force-related stuff is much needed for Star Wars. Literally everything id about the Force and Mandalorians these days that we don't get enough pure Rebels vs. Empire stuff.
I don't get the poeple who say things like "Andor is boring", or "Andor doesn't feel like Star Wars". Because for me, Andor is the best thing that happened in SW Universe in years, not just in terms of shows, but in entire franchise. To be honest, after watching it, I hardly can enjoy shows like Mandalorian, which I liked a lot before . Now it feels to me so flat and generic. Andor is definitelly not as fast paced like Mando or Obi Wan series. But none of these shows gave mu such feelings, such tension and thrill as Andor did. The story is coherent and exciting, heroes intriguing,
@@P.90.603 Yeah, there are lightsabers fights in Obi & Ahsoka and these are pretty much only ones at least semi exciting moments in these shows. The rest is so shallow and boring that it's hard for me to even cheer for the success of the protagonists. Seriously, all characters in Obi and Ahsoka, excluding main heroes, could just die and I would only shrug. I felt no tension in these shows, shows are poorly directed and dialogues are poorly written.
This actually looks like it will be quality, the shots and cinematography looks nuts. It doesn't feel like traditional SW and that's GREAT! Taking its self serious is what it will set it apart. Rogue One was fantastic, hope the creators cook the same quality here.
No sorry but you can see the woke agenda in the first 5 seconds.. Good white women. Good black man. Good Pakistani girl. Bad white man. Cancelled Disney subscription after how bad they flopped Obi Wan with their woke agenda.
1:14 Really great to see that Disney is acknowledging that the Galactic Empire has a regular ARMY infantry and that Stormtroopers are just the elite units and not the regular footsoldiers/infantry, I can't wait to see them again and hopefully see them more in future projects.
Extremely well written with fantastic acting performances from all. Didn't feel like Star Wars but paradoxically at the same time it did. This Tony Gilroy is an exceptional artist and needs to do more Star Wars.
The use of real locations makes this look leagues ahead of the other TV shows. The fact it’s a a British production makes it feel more star wars to me. Andor is such a good character and I can’t wait to see more of his shady past in this story. Amazing!!
It looks like they pulled back a bit from the full-on virtual production approach of the last three shows to give us some more dynamic environments and traditional filmmaking. I'm actually excited for this.
It's still done with the same "virtual production" technology. They didn't pull back anything. The facts that it looks otherwise to you speaks volumes abou the advantages of that technology.
@@joeywheelercabrosky528 nope, the director herself confirmed that they didn't use the virtual approach of the previous shows, because they shot so much in real locations
One of the best shows I've ever seen. Everything is amazing about it. The writing, acting, directing, the cinematography, it's just too good for Star Wars.
Absolutely stunning!! THIS is what I’ve dreamed of Star Wars on the small screen looking like. The scope and production value is incredible. The era, the characters, the look, the vibe. It all looks absolutely fantastic.
This actually looks super interesting. It seems like the first unique Disney Star Wars story in a while. I love the idea of exploring the senate during the imperial era.
Disney really limited themselves on their 6 Episode events hence why its just to little grasp on. It was fun from these moments, but they should have lasted a little longer if they ACTUALLY did the same like with Andor's +10 Episodes.
@@StarWars you are the same person who go on twitter and argue with anyone you can about star wars being woke or not? bro shame on you . you represent a company you are here to advertise upcoming thing not argue with anybody you can
This really looks insanely good. We finally have more than just 6 or 8 episodes which gives the characters more time to grow. I wouldn't complain about the 3 week delay, this just gives everyone at Lucasfilm more time to really finish this project so that it hopefully won't end up like Kenobi's weird cinematography.
@@Dani-kq6qq Well, the Kenobi episodes weren't as long as everyone expected. Even if the Andor episodes are only 30mins it'll still be more than Kenobi and Book of Boba.
