He us "demonstrating" certain aspects or principles of a technique to the audience so that they understand or pointing out vital targets to attack so that they take notes. If they started really fighting people would not follow what is happening. He is just breaking down the elements of the technique. Sometimes I wonder if people just talk without ever having trained. That is the training method. There are other videos where he does techniques at different speeds and there is sparring where the opponent also allowed to attack and move.

There is a simple rule which states that what you train to do is what you will do. The way you train determines your reactions, your techniques. People doubt the efficacy of this way of training in real situations but, as I said, in a real situation you can only react the way you have been trained to react. That is why training like this is useable in a real fight.

I don't know how he can say karate is not about fighting because they don't put their hands up and have no rules. But combat sambo has almost no rules, and they still fight. I feel like it's not as big a distinction as he likes to believe.

If karate is not art of fighting then why all the hard training makiwara and all that kicking on sand bag for hours making body like armour just for if someone attacks you you say come on hit me i will stay still and let me allow to beat me to death
How do you define fighting? Is it that when you go out looking for it? Cause, while we do train in karate and makiwara and heavy bags, there is no first hand in karate.
These guys thinks that their excuse of 'throat ripping, eye gouging and dirty techniques can't be trained with a partner' makes them something Superior to those professional fighters or any trained fighters that spars regularly with 'safe' techniques!. I am a karateka myself and i do full contact sparring. But i have seen my fair share of these lunatics(even on the highest level of ranks!) And i am fed up with these idiots excuses🙏😐.
