I keep coming back to this as perhaps my favourite performance of this - and there are many great versions out there. There is a lovely balance of lyricism, delicacy, virtuosity, freshness and beauty of tone that seems to get the very best out it.
Shelly: a simply brilliant and mature performance of this very technical piece. By way of one tiny suggestion, and probably something you've already considered and decided against, why not cut short the C to D trill around the minute mark for a breath, rather than the breath that you take a second later?
I am about to start working on this piece to play for solo and ensemble. Any recommendations on where to start or how to start working on it? Thank you!!!
Slooowly and with patience😄 work on dynamics right from the start. I also try to learn it and there are times when I want to throw these notes to thrash. And then my clarinet too😂
In addition to the usual "cleaning up" work I would take time, as always, for learning the piano part. It's so important to know the harmonies and texture in order to have the right image of sound and character.... Good luck!!!
