By the way, the original name is a "Škoda lásky" by Jaromír Vejvoda. Songs like Rosamunde and Beer Barrel Polka are derived from the original and their names, which are according to their lyrics.

This is how I remember my two years spent in Germany during my first RAF Medical Branch posting to RAF Hospital Wegberg, mid 1950’s. The festival’s, music, touring peoples attitudes etc. were fantastic, a very different era, one I wish we still had today.👍😁🎼

Heino has the best baritone voice in the world. His technique is obviously not as well-developed as a Lied or opera singer but the sonority of his voice rivals that of the other great German baritone, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

My Grandfather loved this song. He turned me onto it in what seems like centuries ago, when it reality it was about 3.5 decades ago. I think of him every time I hear this song. I miss him, so sometimes the music is what brings me closer and makes me think he's still here!

Je to polka českého🇨🇿 skladatele Jaromíra Vejvody z roku 1927. Ve 2. světové válce ji zpívali vojáci na všech frontách. V originále se jmenuje Škoda lásky.😊 Zpívá se téměř ve 30 jazycích...

Josue Bruno в России очень хорошо знают эту песню.У нас есть фильм " Покровские ворота" и там герой,вернувшийся с войны- Савва Игнатьевич,выпив,поет эту песню на русском и немецком.Фильму этому очень много лет,но его все любят и его часто показывают по ТВ,так что эту песню у нас в России знает не одно поколение....

Cuando era chica, en Trujillo, Perú, una religiosas de origen alemán, nos regalaron un long play a las chicas de la Casa Hogar "Divina Providencia" en donde habían canciones de este cantante. Lo recuerdo de aquél entonces. La primera vez que lo escuché fue en 1974 y seguí escuchando ese LP y, a mi querido Heino, Lo ubiqué en la internet y hoy dejo mi sentir, en este mensaje, por ese gran pero gran cantante alemán. TRADUCCIÓN (Übersetzung) Als ich ein Mädchen war, gaben uns Nonnen deutscher Herkunft in Trujillo, Peru, ein langes Stück mit den Mädchen der Casa Hogar "Divina Providencia", wo es Lieder dieser Sängerin gab. Ich erinnere mich daran von damals. Das erste Mal, dass ich es hörte, war 1974 und ich hörte mir diese LP weiter an und, meinem lieben Heino, stellte ich sie ins Internet und heute hinterlasse ich in dieser Botschaft meine Gefühle für diesen großartigen, aber großartigen deutschen Sänger

When I was in high school, I took German as a foreign language course for 3 years. My teacher played a CD titled "Sing With Heino" Glad to see he is still performing.
