I had the privilege of singing this in the Royal Albert Hall, London, as a member of the Brighton Festival chorus. It was magnificent and thrilling!!! A truly unforgettable experience!
2:42 the man in the red sweaters reaction is awesome. He looks just like a child experiencing something for the first time. Pure joy over the beautiful music people create together.
It is, I first heard this at the Fox Theater in Atlanta GA. I can’t remember if it was an opera, or a ballet. I don’t think it was a symphonic concert because the symphony usually played at symphony Hall.
And this isn't even the best performance... I've experienced much better singing. And even without an orchestra that performance was beyond all the expectations

This is what plays in my head everytime my newborn starts showing signs of waking up for his next bottle before he unleashes the loudest screams I’ve ever heard in my life.
This plays in my head when my youngest daughter (1), walks over to my son (2), steals his cookie and shuffles as fast as she can in the opposite direction.
My Mother played this on vinyl when I was born (multiple times). It is engrained in my brain. I just love it and it always brings back happy childhood memories for me. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra has the best sound, they have better drums.
Imagine being in the audience watching this performance, enjoying the music, having a great time, and then all of a sudden when 2:40 kicks in, a moshpit opens up in the middle of the audience.
i dont hear it, I CAN FEEL IT BURN IN MY BONES (was going to say VIBRATING but that happens all the time with the bones in the ear when hearing something)
I have been lucky enough to hear this masterpiece live last year in Poland. It's unforgiveable, absolutely breathtaking. They will be playing it in some Europe countries next year, it's worth every money.
@@greatexpectations6577 depends on what you mean 'epic': this piece depicts the people asking Fortuna, the goddess of fortune, why their lives have been so unpredictable and filled with misfortune
Fun fact: This song was written by the famed Roman scholar Severinus Boethius. He was falsely imprisoned and executed for allegations of conspiracy against the king. He wrote this piece whilst awaiting a terrible death, literally complaining to Fortuna, the god of fortune, about how unfair she is and how bad one's fate can be under her influence.
No instruments whether made in human history can record this masterpiece perfectly. We only hear a distorted version of it and yet are blessed enough to hear it.I envy those who heard this in presence .The sound resonates within me.
It is amazing! The vibration/static you hear on RU-vid is because of the intense music vibration that equipment cannot handle. It sounds much clearer and drills through your body in real life. A must recommend to once see Carmine in real life👌
Ankit Agarwat, that is nonsense. There is nothing about this particular piece that makes it less recordable and reproducible that any other large, loud piece of music. And calling Orff's "Carmina Burana" a "masterpiece',....well it might have been HIS masterpiece, but compared to masterpieces by better composers, it is fun but not really all that impressive.
@@youtuuba lol that is just what you think Not nonsense or what There is no nonsense in music They can think that ABC song is the best song of all That is just what they think The true nonsense is that there is nonsense in music favour
Didn't have a clue how to search for this song. Tried to kinda 'sing' and hum it to shazam, but shazam was just laughing at my very dissapointing attempts😂. Thank god we have algorithms in 2024 and finally found this masterpiece when I did not expect it! Don't know exactly what it is in this song that attracts me, but it gives me some pleasant shivers. Thanks for this performance and I love how many people are enjoying this!
I always loved this song... it's so... intense, powerful and mysterious at the same time.I can't believe that someone dislike it! How can be possible?!
This is the best version I’ve ever heard..especially at the 2:38 part. The way the conductors eyes get bigger, throws his body into it and his hair shaking around adds to the electric feel in this version. He makes being a conductor look like a military General about to lead his troops into a historic battle
Imagine being In concert when this magnificent piece was presented. Just with RU-vid videos it gives me chills. If I was present at that concert, I’m sure I would feel mythology movie is playing right in front of my eyes. Mad respect for the composer and the artists!!
Imagine looking into the horizon and see 37 Roman legions appearing on the crest of the hill singing this while marching in tight shield wall formation with their pilum sticking out.
The Roman empire fell around the 5th century, this poem (O Fortuna) was written around the 13th century, and the music composed in the 20th century. I'm afraid your vision is highly anachronistic...
I hate to be that guy, but I don't think you realize how big a Roman legion is. That's more than 100k soldiers, which isn't just several times larger than any Roman army ever fielded, but could never appear on the crest of a hill to begin with. Although the scene you describe is, admittedly, epic ^^

Hahaha it is excellent music I agree. But very dramatic for a wedding lol what are you Darth Vader? 🤣 I'm sure it was awesome. Congratulations brother 👊
PantheraLeoKing it was made in the 13th century. It was a text/poem made by goliards and was also used during a cantus, therefore the text was sung by students. I think that the melody was lost and that's why Carl Orff made his own melody to accompany it? 🤔😅
My choir teacher made us sing this in 7th grade and everyone loved it. The staff kept telling her not to, but once they heard the drama, they wanted us to sing it again. She even had some people dress up in a black robe and walk down the aisle with a lantern to give some extra dramatic flair. It was so hard not to smile while watching the people go down the aisles and watch the audience's face turn. I think they thought, "What the heck is going on is this a cult?"
The wind ensemble I was in was supposed to play two movements of a thirteen-movement arrangement of this for Festival my senior year of high school. That quickly morphed into playing all thirteen for the spring concert--and 'O Fortuna' at graduation, which the teacher said he'd been previously asked not to do again on pain of being fired (pretty sure he was only half-serious about that bit). Best year of band ever.
Do you wanna know WHY this is a Masterpiece? Because it takes 200+ people just to perform it. It's not your typical 4 man band. You need a small army of skilled musicians. Hundreds of thousands (possibly millions) of dollars worth of instruments. Oh, and a large choir made up of 100+ singing voices. Thats partially why this music is so rare these days- The sheer size is so extravagant, its not feasible. The logistics alone are overwhelming. However, when you experience this masterpiece, It's like witnessing one of the natural "Wonders of the World." You feel proud of the human species for creating such a marvel. 🏛🏯🕌🗼🎼
Lyrics: O Fortuna velut luna statu variabilis, semper crescis aut decrescis; vita detestabilis nunc obdurat et tunc curat ludo mentis aciem, egestatem, potestatem dissolvit ut glaciem.
I typed into the search bar: "What is the name of that spooky dramatic latin song." This is what RU-vid gave me, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
