He was my absolute childhood hero, a role model! A lot of my sense of humor is based on him.

He still is basically the only real comedian, who is almost always ACTUALLY FUNNY.. there are some that are, sometimes... But not like this, without actually bashing people and talking shit...

It was his mission to make his co players crack.. Frans, Corrie, Hans, Simone, Ron, he made them all crack eventually.

André could make him laugh with the smallest things. For example, during a rehearsal for a scetch there were only the two of them while the 2 others who were part of the play, just had to be imagined for the moment. Frans started to sit down on a certain chair, and Anré only said that he was about to sit down in Hans Otjes' lap, and Frans already was gasping for air because he couldn't stop laughing!

Until Pizza, at least for me that was the turning point. Everything before that from him was amazing!

One sketch that I always will remember is when he had to pour and pre-taste wine in a restaurant. He spat the wine out, totally disgusted, and almost vomiting he crawled over the floor in aboslute misery until he got up, wiped his mouth and said: "excellent wine, ma'am!"

His old songs that were based on famous old (often American) songs! File, foto-albums, We zullen doorgaan etc. But also his originals like Dora etc.

Yeahhhh! I saw them live with their new year's show, but that was just a bit sad; where only were a handful of people below 80 years old in the theatre and just like Herman Finkers who I saw around the same time, they really lacked their old energy and charm. But their old stuff really is hilarious, and the best thing is: Miss Inge doesn't need to translate anything from them for Combustible to understand!

Do you mean Animal Crackers? That is wonderful, but it is not what he got known for. He made his debut at 15 years old in a talent show called Nieuwe Oogst (new harvest). And Animal Crackers was on tv decades later. He did all kind of things before and after Animal Crackers.

@@moniquevandoorn8347 Exactly. In the 70s, saturday night.. in my pyjamas, hair washed.. watching his shows... (way before animal crackers) Those are my first memories of him.. Oh and we had a record.. (single) with two of his songs.. The bananasong, (bananenlied) and angelique, recorded in my birthyear.. 1972. (And now you know how old I am)😉 Played it a lot when I was a child. Every year he had a new carnaval song in those years. The man is a legend. Played a big part in the early soundtrack of my life. (And that of my children, but in a different way) We had a playlist with his songs in our car when our children were young.. Had to make it part of their cultural upbringing. And tbh: as a 'countersound' to too much k3 in the car. We had our limits.😁😇 (And because there is an age difference of 10 years between the oldest and the youngest... we had to listen to andre and k3 for a loooooooong time.😄

@@moniquevandoorn8347 Oh.. and let's not forget the 'dikvoormekaar' radioshow every sunday in the 70's and 80's that he did with his buddy Ferry de Groot. We listened whenever we could... bizar sketches of 'ome joop' and little liesje who always had to pee.. 'Ome joop, ik moet plassen' (Uncle joop, i have to pee) When someone had to pee And 'Dat was the koffie...' (That was the coffee... because they had a clumsy coffeelady in the show) .. when something fell :Were quotes that were regularly used in our houshold.😀😁

@@I.Toverheks Yes, and everybody all the time said: nou, ontzettend?! In English loosely translated it is: terribly, not so much.

This feels a bit like Kanye making Paul McCartney famous, haha! Or old bands keeping covering Glee songs.
