In this video, Andre shows us that the trade-offs for the long lonely hours of dedicated practice are those euphoric moments of delivery when the magical sound of orchestra and piano swell into blissful melodic rhythms, sometimes sweet and delicate and sometimes bold and powerful, totally enrapturing the audience and viewers. And this guy does it oh so well. It's so good! 😊❤💯
What a kind, brilliant, and open-hearted musician. His death is our great loss. I remember him conducting a master class in Seattle, and his insistence was in simply "telling the story" about each piece of music. Wrong notes don't matter. Tell the story with an introduction, building a structure, a climax, and a resolution. He treated every young student with respect and appreciation. What a kind, wonderful soul.
André’s most timeless, wonderful camera work W full close-ups (wonderful expressive face, body & hands!) My only grymp?! More! Want this longer..but sriously glad to visit, re-visit. “thanks! I needed tgat.” TY for this amazing work, sobwell performed by all involved. “Have a goid music kind of day, y’all❤”-Mimi Martinez, NY
HOW DOES A PIANIST STEALTHILY OBSERVE HIS OWN EMBELLISHMENTS? THIS MAKES NO SENSE. YOU MISSPELLED STEALTHILY, WHICH MEANS TO SECRETLY OR SURREPTITIOUSLY DO SOMETHING.🙄😒😫🥺😩🙈 RESPECTFULLY
How did you get this video recording? Wow! I wrote to Mr. Watts decades ago, asking him to please record SSII and ultimately he did with Yoel Levi/Altanta Symphony. For some reason, the Jewish-Hungarian Watts has always excelled with the French composers. I do feel that Philippe Entremont's performance of this Concerto is still the "definitive" performance. But this performance here is LIVE... wow... Bravo, Andre! :-)
@@petercates6706 Thanks, Mr. Cates. For some reason, Maestro Entremont's definitive performance, for my ears, is still the studio recording with Hungarian Maestro Eugene Ormandy/Philadelphia Orchestra. It still sends shivers down my spine, some 35 years or so now, after hearing it for the very-first time. Be well.
@@pennyfurr3216 sigh-- he is American, that's his nationality. He is 100% American. Just stop the bs. He was born as US military kid. He went to American schols, studied American schools, taught at US university and is 100% American just like Duke Ellington. just stop the bs. We even had the same conductor as teacher, except I can't play piano.
All right. I'll admit Mr. Watts does it better than I ever did on this concerto. It'd been 40 yrs ago since I last played this piece and yet I can still recall every note. Amazing.
