I don't think that we shall ever fully appreciate the towering genius of this man......just unbelievable playing and insight. Even in old age there were always moments of sheer magic... I think he always had God's blessing!
I heard him play for two hours from 5 feet away at Lavenham Church in the UK about 45 years ago. I had front row tickets and my knees were jammed against the Church's little stage and I had to move my hands off the rail as he cllimbed up the stairs. Then I accidentally got to shake his hand after the concert and said "thankyou" over and over, and was so in shock that I forgot to let go. He had to catch my eye and nod before I realized that I was still saying thankyou and shaking away .
Great to hear a good Segovia recording. The tone and pure stamina, to get through a technically diverse section of music like this. Amazing. The Maestro!
I have never heard this recording before. I must say that until now I mostly heard bad recordings, or him playing at a very advanced age. In his prime he was a total stud
И всё же, после Сеговиа нет ни одного хорошего гитариста, кто бы владел интонацией и голосоведением как Сеговиа, т е полноценно. А ведь и смена позиций на каждом инструменте происходит, стало быть должна и на гитаре, лично и индивидуально инструменту. Добавить ещё временное движение музыки.. - Хочется услышать нового большого музыканта на гитаре.
