Hi, I like your comparison of d104 mics. Most of them sound very amplified except for the one I think you called it a straight mic, which I believe I have. I would like to continue to use a non-amplifies mic because my radios all have amplification an compression built into them, I just need to tone down the mic some from being so nasaly or tinny. How would I do that from inside the base of the mic. I don't want to mess with the crystal cartridge at all since it looks brand new. Inside the base are no electronic parts except for wires and a small terminal strip to connect the wires to. I would like to use it with a Yaesu FT-847 wihch has +5 volts coming off the # 2 pin on the 8 pin connector, and I'm wanting to use a 4 pin non-amplified stand

What is your total charge door to door for a Tug 8 up grade like you just did? Thanks, 21

+Dirty Diaper 21 Well that depends, these mics needed more things done then what I usually see come to the shop.most mics come in for the cap changes to bass them up over the tinny sound and they using want new cords on them. Plus I service the contacts and adjustment pot while i have it apart, basically clean the contacts and re-lube them. For this service would be around 50.00. Any extra is just that. So what you get is a new amp in place of the old amp, along with cap changes, cleaning and new cord.

I am glad that you will take the time to work on them. They can be a pain sometimes. Looks like CAD or someone would re-make an Exact element replacement for them. I know there is several out there that will work, but a repo IMHO would be what I would like. Keep on Droppin" the Maul, 21

Hi... quick question for you. I use my lollypop sitting about 2 feet away for my radio and amp set up. I can not seem to get rid of the squeals. Even with the mic gain turned almost the way down, Actually I have four of these mics that all squeal no matter what radio or radio amp combo I use them on. Battery new and at full voltage! How can I get rid of the D-104 squeals? Can I put a cap across the cartridge connections or what else can I do? Actually, looking back, one of my mics (the only one I had at the time) had NO SQUEAL on amy old Centurion SSB base. Thanks for your help, John
