So, today my daughter asked me if I knew that Andrea Martin passed away today. Sad to say I didn’t realize who she was. I started listening to her music and I can’t believe I slept on her accomplishments. Great singer-songwriter. May she Rest In Peace. My condolences to her family, friends and fans. 💕🙏🏾 💕
Just gotten a message from my mom asking me if I know her. I said yes and that she sung 'Let Me Return The Favor'. I think that she remembers me having the single on a CD after this song was released and me playing this song all of the time. I had no idea until now that she wrote a lot of songs that I love for some of my favorite singers. I'm like "Wow!! She wrote that?" I'm so saddened to hear about her passing!! 😥

Seriously, this chick is one of the most underrated artists, writers and producers of the past 10-15 years. She's been responsible for some of the most incredible R&B songs ever, IMO. One of the baddest ladies to ever do it! And one of the few in the production game. Definitely very influential.
I remember when I was a kid in a mostly white neighborhood, we didn't have any urban radio stations. But sometimes i could get an RnB station to come in on my radio in my room for short periods of time. I remember hearing this song and I would try to record it to my cassette tape if I could catch it in time. I finally caught it one day. But I would always have to try to clear the static. Old heads know what I'm talking about. I was to excited and I would play this song and would swear I sounded just like her. But I never knew who she was. I just now came across a short video talking about this lady who was a songwriter passing away and some of the songs she wrote. Then they play a snippet of this song and I'm like that's my song! This is the lady! I gagged cause it was my 1st time hearing the song since I was a kid and I'm just now finding out who the artist is. She was super talented and a great loss. I'm glad I found out about her after all these years.

Andrea Martin deserves more love! Not only is she a great songwriter and singer in her own right, but if you listen carefully, you can hear her singing background on some of your favorite songs, too. When I listen to 'I Wish I Didn't Miss You' by Angie Stone, I love to hear her as well. I WISH 'The Best of Me' wasn't her only album. I bought it in '99 and haven't stopped listening yet.

I fell in love with Andrea Martin at a young age realizing that she was such a talented writer writing for some of the artists that I love and writing some of the biggest hits and then come to find out that she was a singer in her own right and I bought her album in 98 and I don't care if it didn't do commercially successful I loved it from top to bottom every song was great especially this one I blasted it over and over again such a beautiful talent gone way too soon and we talk about Diane Warren and David Foster being 2 of the best song writers in history yes they are but so was Andrea Martin She was underated her album definitely needed more management and more publicity and I think it would have done much better We will miss you Andrea your talent was unique flawless and beautiful!
