I discovered Andreas Scholl through “Ombra mai fu” a week or two ago and I’ve listened to it every day since. No drama, no grimaces, no acting, just earth shattering beautiful vocal interpretation and a divine piece. I also saw a piece where he talks about working together with his wife, approximately from 10 years ago and at the end she plays such a beautiful piece of music on the piano, does anyone know what that is? And, I saw him at the Harald Schmidt show and there he hums a melody, I can’t speak German but I think it was his own composition, a pop song? In between talks? Does anyone know the title?
I got curious about the interview you mention. Scholl says he has trouble with the lyrics for the songs, Schmidt sort of dares him to improvise some lyrics for a song, which is by the group Berlin.
@@bombsingaza"Ombra..." is very beautiful, and I agree with you about Scholl's singing of the aria. For me, however, "Chiudetevi, miei lumi" works even better.
