she's pinning the problems to the wall and daring people to look at them. not even done watching and I know what the comments are going to be. bringing up unpleasant truths isn't a way to win a popularity contest, she knows that, and doesn't care.
You have a lot of fortitude, slogging into the great dismal swamp of RU-vid comments. I scrolled down a little bit and I think I need to go hug a kitten now or something.
Andreja Pejic is one of the world's most successful models and she is transgender. These are only two aspects of who she is. She is also an intelligent human being with her own valuable experiences and her own well thought out perspective on the world. I for one was impressed by the quality of discussion she provided in the question and answer portion of this video. Her generation gives me hope. I am confident she will live a life of accomplishment and will do much good in the world. Thank you for having her appear at the Oxford Union.
I enjoyed the talk immensely and agreed with 99.9%. Andreja nailed it in my view and some of the earlier comments are frankly abusive, unfair and possibly transphobic. I feel Andreja should do this full-time, not to denigrate modelling but she could probably do more good as an activist. Jill G
notice anything about this comment section? all the people that want to disagree avoid argument and talk about the 'oxford' reputation or the do a cheap ad hominem about the speaker
wow I'm in love, this woman is not just a pretty face, Andrea if your single you seem like the romantic kindred spirit I long for so do look me up hehe! this was a fantastic talk from a speaker at Oxford
Says a lot about this forum that a transgendered fashion model can deliver a speech about political issues and have that be that be the main focus of the q and a
Still says a lot with who they pick. There are plenty of voices on the other side now. Theryn Meyer trans mra, Blaire White anti sjw trans, hidden tara, who shows up on the internet aristocrat "co-opted" trans community stream, "Count Backwards of Tenn", u4IA dreams chat with bar bar" etc. These are a few trans people who do not conform to the leftist main stream media narrative, and so do not exist. I don't think Milo Yiannopulous has ever spoken at Oxford either.
Churble Furbles that's a pretty conspiratorial leap. i appreciate those voices as well. this speaker actually IS a real leftist/marxist. the media in the US might be anti-GOP in certain quarters, but in terms of the historical spectrum world politics it is actually pretty center right. theryn and blaire are great, and theryn is particularly educated and eloquent... i was interested in seeing what milo had to say and watched him on rubin and rogan, he is a douchebag provacateur with little of substance to say and an enormous prima dona ego.
I'm going to point something out really quick: look how cool she looks in that outfit. it is like it matches the library or something, who thought of that...
Not just a pretty face. :) Delivers a talk of high academic quality, and oh so relevant two years later when the West is in a hybrid war with Russia. Why have the youth not taken to the streets in anti-war protests, I ask myself. In May everyone was on tenterhooks wondering the result of meeting between rocketman and dotard, but now with WW3 ever imminent, not a whisper in the West. Maybe because it is that Putin is too low key when he mentions nuclear retribution for a first strike on Russia, which the controlled media twists into Russian sabre rattling and evidence of Russian aggression, when in fact it is a warning to NATO, after talk there about a preemptive strike on Russia, and also not to spark a war with Russia which could escalate into WW3. In her talk she mentions that the world finds itself in the same situation prior to WW2, and yes, discussion on Russian national television also makes mention of the fact that they find themselves facing a pre 1939, pre WW2 outbreak, situation. That there is the need to move the economy to a war footing in order to repel any NATO invasion. One can only pray for the demise of the dollar.
The capitalist countries England, the United States and others have killed their millions in the quest for power and profits. Their hands are far from clean. Socialism is not the incarnation of the demonic.
Roy de la Helen It is a totalitarian ideology. Inhuman, destructive and deadly. And while the west killed many people in wars against other countries, socialist countries killed their own people, without war. I guess that makes a difference.
How can she not see that she’s part of the problem? The fashion industry is horrific. I can see how I play my part in war and pollution. I don’t expect others to change; I have to try to change myself.
Achilles Metaxas As for this video, I been wondering why there are so many dislikes here? But I am sensing that a part of it has to deal with the social & political environment going on in society nowadays (bigotry, toxic nationalism, etc.). This is such a crazy, twisted world.
usctrojansable I think you are correct, I agree. I wonder also where all the likes and dislikes came from, broken down by nationality and relative income. there are still so few total likes and dislikes as yet.
Andreja Pejić is glorious. When she - he isits me in Beverly Hills salads and coffee ae on me at The Beverly Hills Hotel Polo Lounge. Thank you, Tyler Lord Hamilton, Ph.D. (forth-coming)
This was rather painful to watch. I cringed most of the time. A pretty "facade" but nothing behind it, sorry. Who invited this person? I can only suppose that it was somebody in the mood to make a (very bad) joke.
I hate the way a lot of trans women and gay men are so flambuoyant and over the top - if this was a non-trans woman I'd say the same: she's actually really intelligent and I love the content of this speech and she seems like a nice person but portraying her image like this makes her look like a bimbo. Look, we get that you're a woman. You don't need to (and really shouldn't) show up to Oxford in a mini-skirt. That's not what being a woman is about. Those overly gesticulating hand-movements (I don't know what the term is for them - but I only ever see them on gay men, trans women and a few really annoying non-trans women) are totally inappropriate for this event - and possibly life generally. Being like this actually does yourself and the trans community, no favours.
URSA While we can all agree that this is the most unfitting speaker in OU history, spouting venomous words like that does not make you any more noble than a corrupt decadent placed at the High Table.
Who the fuck said ''im noble and i should be speaking instead of him'' , that thing is getting special treatment because they HAVE to be ''politically correct'' and thats what pissing people off , thanks.
I want one person besides me to bring up the dirty topic of historical falsification. special invite for anyone that is an unwilling victim of it that says tacky one-liners about politics they heard in the bs grapevine called "political expertise" dare you
