Sky News host Andrew Bolt checks the “truth” behind Independent Senator Lidia Thorpe’s “dangerous and deceitful” National Press Club address from Wednesday.
So, while I respect folks expressin' their views, let's make sure we're lookin' at the whole barn before we go believin' every word. Y'all take care now! 🤠 #StaySkeptical #CommonSense
Just drop her off twenty kilometers from town with just the clothes she wears (we don't want to scare the animals) and see how she does without the benefits of "colonization".
Thorpe has openly admitted to lying under oath while being sworn in and, that her true intentions were to infiltrate parliament and destroy it from the inside.
she has done some silly things; but it is a problem that you are not supposed to be able to participate and represent unless you swear allegiance to a foreign ruler, or have to tolerate prayers from only one religion as part of secular governance
I'm a 7th-generation indigenous Australian. The Aboriginal activists whinge about colonialism? But nothing was here when Cook arrived. Not one Aboriginal has ever thanked us for the money or opportunities they get, I don't trust the “Vice committee thingy” I worry that the Globalists are all for it? Is this part of their GREAT RESET? Will another Aboriginal Committee help address the dire living standards of women in remote Aboriginal communities, where alcohol abuse and poverty are rife. The Activists and Labor Government and the LNP don't give us facts to decide on? So it's NO from me
Thorpe is a fool if she thinks that we are going to fall for the crap that she spouts it's so much bull she should be embarrassed. If she gets her facts right she might have credibility
@@fionaforward3358If she wants her culture back then she needs to give back all the western creature comforts and go back to the bush. Sick of these people driving wedges between us, yeah it's hard but move on, it's the 2000s
As a Aboriginal man (Wiradjuri) I feel sorry for Lydia she doesn't know much about the history of her mobs or the culture of those mobs she doesn't know that war for land was a common practise. Lydia seems to be oblivious to the decades of corruption within Aboriginal orginisations she doesn't understand that the negatives that impact Aboriginal people is the cash cow for so called leaders and organisations. In fact she appears to know very little accept to repeat the diatribe of others she should get out of politics she does more harm than good.
It's a pity more Aboriginal people like yourself are not heard or are ridiculed when they try to educate others. It's disgusting that public figures like Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine receive such horrible treatment from other Aboriginal figure-heads because they won't conform to the expected victim mentality we see all the time.
I know jow much the mines already pay to them. Millions and millions. My husband had to work on the mines to get money itcwas never just handed to him Thorpe more ridiculous everytime I hear her
I will vote no however being Australian not being aboriginal I believe we are all aussie and bit is a shame as my daughter said that the aboriginal culture is not taught in our schools. I also wonder why the schools take kids on excursions and never take them bush with aboriginal guides to teach them what they can't eat and how to live rough in the bush. After I think one day we will need the know how. Why isn't this culture being taught to our kids instead of every other culture that comes here.
Yunupingu heard about him in recent times low-life scum mutt Albanese up there praising him when he died saying what a great man he was great leader. Isn't it true he was ripping all you people off from day one pocketing millions and millions from the mining companies mansions everywhere helicopters Range Rovers fleet of cars 4 wives living the life keeping all your Lot living like shit. Apparently he left a lot of his own family in poverty
Fancy a member of parliament asking to share in Western inheritance! Completely oblivious of the fact she has her position at that podium as a direct result of being Australian & inheriting the rights of her forebears. Hypocrisy, ignorance & duplicitousness are her virtues
That makes one person, as she does not love herself. If one were 87.5% white and 12.5% something else, normal person wouldn’t rag on the 7/8th of themselves and pretend to be something they aren’t. She’s mentally ill
Don't think of her as being misguided but as one who is misguiding. If you listen carefully, she is simply a demagogue (a political leader who seeks support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than by using rational argument). In this political climate, demagogues have found a ready market for their ideas, which have no rationality behind them.
The fact that everybody in the room was silent shows how gutless they are, not one challenge not even a murmur, to the vile rhetoric she was spewing forth, disgusting.
At first I wondered why we couldn't hear everyone rolling on the floor laughing. But I think they all either fell asleep or found their Instagram feeds more riveting than the ramblings of an unhinged lunatic.
It’s both ironic and a true sign of her ignorance .She speaks of ‘your’ privilege when she is paid 200k+ to do a publicly elected service role poorly, while most Australians black, white or other are struggling to keep a roof over their heads.
wonder how she'd feel about paying us reparations for our 20,000+ years of technology. or would she like to go back to the stone age like her ppl were in 200 years ago?
I'm of Scottish & Irish decent & family have been living in Australia for generations now but i'm sure most people are aware of the history of convict deportation to this land and how convicts were treated { if they survived the journey } . We never even think of compensation for that past or complain about the treatment we just get on with it like she should do . Tuffin up lady
If our descendants were dumped here against their will and in the cruellest conditions, England should at least buy everyone a house and a car to help erase generational trauma.
@@Mantras-and-Mystics yes this is the problem.. we know of intergenerational trauma because of the Aboriginal experience, but the convict experience is never spoken about, or the Irish experience.. there was a reason they came here.. largely genocide in their homeland. There is no ownership on human suffering and deprivation of land and liberty. Just because a person is white doesn't mean they have more privilege. Some white people do really well - others don't.. same as with people of all skin colours.
Yep so true our ancestors didn’t want to come here they were forced, and in saying that thank God for that. The convicts and aboriginals actually got on because they were both persecuted but free English people.
Because there are no written records she can say any thing happened, but examination of 3500 sets of bones ( before that was disallowed ) showed the majority of them had over their short lives received terrible head injuries, three times more on women’s sculls than men’s and the average age of Aboriginal peoples before colonialism was about 30years Initiation rites in some areas involve elders sleeping with 13 year old girls and younger as their initiation into womanhood- Lydia Thorpe could do with a history lesson or two
She never mentioned the 14 billion dollars they get to sort themselves out let alone royalties from mining. She doesn't talk about the cannibal mobs in north Queensland that preferred white people flesh. She has no idea. History can`t be changed because its history.
And despite Australians spending 30 + billion dollars per year (60,000 dollars per aboriginal) on aboriginal programs and aboriginals receiving hundreds of millions in royalties per year and on top of all that - the majority receiving welfare, and getting a FULL FREE ride with education right through tertiary/university, paid to go to school, free taxis to school, no wating for elective surgeries - Australians who pay for all that & don't receive ANY of the same FREE ride - are accused of being priveleged ?
@@peteormond2828 Be careful colouring all Aboriginal people with the same paintbrush. I know of many who by dint of hard work have made a great contribution to Australian society, in spite of and in the face of prejudice from their own people. As a white indigenous Australian, I have great admiration for these Aboriginal people.
Her surname is Thorpe. That's an English name. If what she says here is true, then *her* ancestors did this, too! And she has no right to point fingers at anyone!
How many % of ancestry does one need to be declared an aborigine in Australia? From the looks of her, I cannot see any trace of any "aborigine" in her. She even looks like a red head.
My thoughts too. "My people" what about the white side of "her" people, don't they exist too? BTW this land wasn't the only land to be invaded, just take a look at Britain and Europe Lidia.
She needs to be involved in truth telling, she certainly can tell a tall story...although not based on fact. She does have white heritage - amazing how she has forgotten that.
Up until now, I have had respect for the aborigines. This woman has single handedly opened my eyes, motivating me to do some research. What I discovered is the real meaning of truth telling. It is about distorting the truth as a money making business, benefitting the managers of the aboriginal industry who have been milking the taxpayer to line their own pockets. The result is we have two aboriginal groups, the victims and the predators who exploit the real aborigines. The predators are the greedy psychopaths masquerading as aborigines. Their business model relies on their truth telling exaggerations and outright lies, and the continuation of the aborigines they use to profit from the misery they insure never ends. WAKE UP AUSTRALIA, a genuine truth telling royal commission needs to get to the bottom of this ongoing, never ending exploitation of vulnerable people.
What you are saying is very similiar to what Pauline Hansen has been saying for years and years but no one would listen. Maybe now people will see and realise the real truth!!!!!
What you said is an absolute truth. I believe a certain Bruce , has made some money out of his fakery, been selling books and been making up stories that severzl well educated experts in studies of the indigenous hade said he is loopy, well that my way of sayimg it. Maybe not loopy ,maybe a shifty fraud.
It's all over Australia in remote indigenous communities. Violence and sexual assault, particularly against children is rife. It's the most crazy poverty you've ever seen. And it's hard to do anything about it.
@@joywilliams8444 That doesn't make sense. Probably some mobile phone auto-correct. I don't know what the solution is, but it's touchy. Either way, officials get accused of being racist. They only way I can see to reduce it is education. Incentivise parents to keep their kids in school. It's a long play, but it has to be done.
Before the white man came the aboriginal population wondered around in the wilderness. They done nothing for 65000 years. Now they want it all & still give nothing in return not even respect for their fellow man utterly disgusting.

My concern is that she is able to keep repeating this version of ‘history’ and not only gets applauded by the media, but continues to enjoy privileges via a system she loathes. And exactly what percentage of her DNA is indigenous?
I can not believe what goes on in this country, how many Billions get spent to first nation people, and someone who works and pays taxes all their lives not even get a pension, that is criminal 😳 😊
So very true! Who came up with this "first nations" term, what a load of crap, they are aboriginal, full stop! Not indigenous either, anyone born here is indigenous! And don't get me started on this "welcome to country" crap that's forced upon us, who the f$#k allows this bullshit?
It doesn't matter how much guilt money is spent. Fact is no one in Australia is going to give them a chance at anything so they try to justify it with "look at how money we give". If a white Aussie and a "first nation" person with darker skin applies for any job in that country, even if they studied at Harvard ,there is 100% chance the dark skinned one will never get hired in Australia.
Bravo Andrew. My grandfather identified as "aboriginal" and this was recognized by the Department of Fisheries. My uncle married a tribal leader's daughter. In my grandfather's day, they embraced their heritage and appreciated the all government assistance, although my grandfather worked hard until his death. He loved ALL Australians and never saw any divide between us. I cannot identify with my heritage with this disgraceful rebellion of historical revisionism.

“Probably” is the problem. When there’s no facts you have to go off appearance. Appearance wise it is possible she is zero % aboriginal. Prove that wrong.
Some people need to attend the emergency department of Alice Springs hospital, and witness the horrid things done to aboriginal women, by aboriginal men. And it is factual
Unfortunately the truth sometimes gets in the way. LT gloats over a rich culture spanning 40,000 years and points to "tribal" tattoos on her forearms. Aboriginals never had tattoos unlike the NZ maori. By the way, dot paintings were invented by a white fella in the early 1970's who collaborated with local people to bring them into existence. I quote a first nations art website: "Dot painting originated almost 50 years ago in 1971. Geoffrey Bardon was assigned as an art teacher for the children of the Aboriginal people in Papunya, near Alice Springs". Also, before white settlement there were 250 aboriginal languages and over 800 dialects - doesn't sound like a united, peaceful existence. How could you tell friend from foe with no means of standard communication. Perhaps LT should take a closer look at her own history.
Very interesting observation about the recent "creation" of aboriginal art "tradition". The ubiquitous "welcome to country" ceremonies, created by Ernie Dingo in 1976, are also a crass " creation" of aboriginal culture. He "made up" a ceremony because an official South Pacific delegation, for whom welcome ceremonies are part of the culture of South Pacific islanders, demanded one for their arrival. Since then " Welcome to Country" has become a grinding tool, the purpose of which piling on white man's "guilt".
How else would she get a job? She has jumped on the bandwagon of 'first nations'. You can see she is not aboriginal. Her father is white. She is rough, she is a loudmouth, and she is after the money and an audience
Lets be reasonable. Its clear it was their land, they were living on it and it provided their food. There was an invasion and they lost. I think its just a case that many of them need to change their culture. The old culture fails in the world economy.

I couldn’t watch this to the end. How she gets away with this is beyond me. Who thought it a good idea to have her in office. My Dad grew up with aboriginal kids. They were his play mates & he said that anyone injured, sick, elderly, whatever, were simply left behind by the tribe to perish. Is that living in harmony?
A young army officer of the First Fleet described how shocked he was to see serious head wounds and head scars on local aboriginal woman, and he learned they were caused by their violent husbands hitting them over the head whenever they were angered, which could be easily triggered by any trivial reason. He also said that a lot of meetings with the local tribes would easily turn violent. Can't blame the Aboriginals for being angry at their invaders, but for Thorpe to say they all lived in peace and harmony with each other is just total BS.

How dare you tell your white story!! - as unfortunate as it is. I wish you the best mate. In fact, just tick the ATSI boxes, you’ll get free priority education. 🤫
I too supposedly have white privilege. I was born in public housing, my dad died when I was a small child. My mother remarried and I spent the rest of my childhood standing between them to stop them from killing each other, before he turned to abusing myself and my sister. I'd like to know where the privilege was in that. My sister and I both still managed to put ourselves through university and work our whole lives until we retired, despite the issues and mental scars we've both carried with us all our lives as a result of that childhood. We didn't wallow in self pity and turn to drugs and booze. No one gave us any handouts either. You can choose to be a victim and wallow in self pity or you can choose to be a survivor and make something of yourself, and ensure that your children never suffer the way you did.
Aboriginal wealth was not stolen from them, hunter gatherers had what they could carry. I really want to see Aboriginals who live in dysfunctional communities have good lives, but Thorpe and her ilk will be no help in that respect.
My best friend is a nurse. She moved to western australia and works in a hospital up north. The horrifying stories she tells me about babies, literally 5, 7, 9 month old babies coming into the hospital with herpes or clamidia(spelling sorry🥴) the women coming in beaten so badly that they lose eyes or teeth.. Or have been set on fire.. And fetal alcohol syndrome is disproportionately high amongst the aboriginal babies. I have also had experience when I lived in karratha , where not far from there, a whole estate of brand new houses was built for aborigines . Without word of a lie, within a few months, they had ripped out all the floors, doors windows, smashed every wall, stolen the air cons and hot water services, ripped up every plant that was landscaped, and took off. I also have some documentation from when my ancestors were first here mining in creswick in 1864, that shows that there were like, Marshall's appointed, to protect and help aboriginal communities, and punish anyone who mistreated them. Happy to share if anyone wants confirmation. So no Lydia , we don't believe your stories. We don't trust you will do the right thing. Just seeing your anger and blood lust for us white fellas is enough to give us nightmares
What you forgot to mention is that many of those communities are ran by white politicians and people Who get allocated a huge amount of money to be spent on education, housing, community centre etc which the Aboriginal people DO NOT see!

The person we need to listen to is Jacinta Price an Aboriginal woman who is not looking for handouts, a woman who works hard for her community and has a lot of good ideas. Education is the only way for people to raise themselves out of poverty. Good work ethics, putting the community first and getting off the drink and drugs is the only way forward in improving standards of living in all communities, you cannot help those who do not want to help themselves.
100% agree! Love Jacinta ❤. She herself has come poverty stricken abusive communities and her Mother said my Daughter is not going to live this life and left the community and now we have an amazing leader of a woman who doesn't play the race card or victimhood card. Jacinta for PM 💪👌😃
She's a fake aboriginal, just like Thorpe, apparently. But Thorpe's community hasnt rejected her like Price's has. Can you name one thing, just one, that Price has achieved other than getting handed a senate seat for the National Party.
@@leandabee YOU might have a leader but the community she cam from doesnt. They have rejected her and said she doesnt speak for them. Unfortunately, if that happens there is a good chance of racial violence which has the potential of spilling over into a civil (race) war. Think about Rhodesia and South Africa. The pattern of what we are now facing was perfected in those countries. It was all about TRUTH & RECONCILIATION. The result being that both nations despite their wealth of resources they have been reduced to third world nation status. We fail to learn from history and therefore will be condemned to relive it. The Rhodesian born South African author warned Australians in his book "Truth out of Africa" where he stated that after South Africe falls it will be Australia's turn to be 'put through the wringer.'
Dear God, she's such a pitiful victim! Nothing, NOTHING that ever happens to her will be her fault. Nope, it'll always be someone else's fault and never ever hers.
If I recall correctly the Gippsland Aborigines killed 100 Western Port Aborigines in a surprise attack at Beaumaris, according to assistant protector of Aborigines Thomas.
They always come back to the "stolen generation". When my mother was in hospital recovering from a massive stroke, the woman opposite her was an aboriginal. Like myself, her husband came in every day to visit, and over the period of five months, I got to know them quite well. The husband was also aboriginal, and during the course of a conversation one day, he told me how he gets pissed off by people who are whiter than his skin colour, going on and on about the stolen generation. He told me that he and his wife were part of that, and if they hadn't been removed from their surroundings, they would NEVER have had the quality of life that they have both enjoyed. He also noted that people forget that young white girls who found themselves pregnant and not married, often had their babies stolen from them to give to couples who were looking to adopt. It is nice to know that not all aboriginal people carry on like ratbags, but it seems that the whiter they are, the worse they carry on with their supposedly racist bullshit.
Most of the supposedly 'stolen generation were in fact given up by their parents to the missions because they recognised that they would have a much better chance of a better life than if they remained with the tribe. Only around 12% were actually forcibly removed from the parents. The whole 'stolen generation' thing is a deliberately constructed and promoted lie for the purposes of directing huge sums of money to certain 'aboriginal' people in cities. Very very little of it ever reaches aboriginal communities.
sure there are exceptions in every type of scenario; but what was the more common situation and treatment? True regarding young pregnant white women, but there has been restitution to many of them; more importantly, it was the same cause for the ill treatment against both groups, and sadly so many of all colours still follow this debunked nonsense.

Thanks for pointing out that the dirt was worthless until the British arrived. And they didn’t turn up with some new miracle invention. It was the product of 1000s of years of human ingenuity- human capital. From Bronze Age to iron age was over a 1000 years before the ability to make enough heat for iron. Concrete … from the Romans. The civilisation we have is us standing on the shoulders of giants
Living as hunter gatherers the dirt isnt worthless its very valuable as it supplies your food. When your land is taken, so is your food. Homo sapiens have been around for about 200,000 years. Most of the technological advancements came about in the last 11,000 years. If it was a matter of being smarter or better then why not much happening for so long? Some people of the earth were in the right place at the right time, some were not. Comparing technologies from different geological locations is pointless. With that said. The hunter gather age is well and truly over because it simply fails to compete with farming/industrial culture. At some point one has to say, we lost the war, time to participate in the modern economy.
Sadly, Australia is starting to not feel like home anymore, yet my grandkids are 7th generation born in Australia. Keep up the good work Andrew telling the reality🙏
Throughout human history, the face of the entire world has always been changing: its ethnic groups, countries, borders, etc. Many of these changes have been unjust as they resulted from conflicts, violence, local and world wars, and crimes against humanity. We need to constantly learn from our history that not to create new injustices. One of such lessons suggests that we must not attempt to heal committed injustices by new injustices. Our history shows that any attempt to reverse established historical reality turns into injustice. In case of our country Australia, it is not possible to heal historical wounds of Indigenous people by giving them a special constitutional status and rights, or even 'sovereignty'. More than 26 millions Australians should not be discriminated compared to less than a million Indigenous people. We need to find just and really democratic ways of efficiently addressing their issues. Injustice cannot be healed by injustice! With full respect to Indigenous people and regrets of what happened to them in the colonial past, we all still have to realize that the historical reality is that Australian nation consists now of people from many ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The Indigenous people group is not the biggest one and not the one, which made the biggest contribution into creating of modern Australia. Anyway, regardless of that, under no circumstances it is a good idea to try to reverse history, as it would mean racism and discrimination towards majority of people in Australia, which are not responsible at all for our colonial past. We need to strongly condemn colonial crimes and atrocities but accept historical reality and have really democratic society, where we all should be absolutely equal in our rights. No one, including Indigenous people, should have any special privileges regardless of their background and history. It is why I am against Voice and any specific ethnic and/or racial 'treaties' but strongly for really democratic Australian republic where every person would be absolutely equal in their rights.
My sister was with an aboriginal man against the wishes of our mum when she was 16. She left home, ended up on drugs and in hospital after he stabbed her and she nearly died. She had to change her identity to escape him. So much peace, almost like a certain other "peaceful people". Not that all are bad, I know a few who are as decent as anyone else, even more so, but it is definitely a big problem in their community.
yes you are so right as i know a few people that are just the most wonderful people you could ever meet but then you get some that are just after what they can get out of of people so yes i agree with you
I have in my profession seen unspeakable torture performed on a pre-school girl and committed by Aboriginals in her family. They or someone used cigarettes to burn her all over her body. Judging from the various state of healing it must have been happening most of her life! White women brought her to the Mornington Bush hospital. They said it was not uncommon, especially around Christmas!!? The little screaming girl was the very first Aboriginal I met in my life because it happened after only three month of me arriving in Australia. The girl had no language but she taught me a lot about "kulture". I have never seen worse, not even after working in a few Kimberly reserves.
true hurts pal , true blue australians , were mistreated and continue so , they are hunters like fredom not farmers like europeans so , think about it instead blaming them for anything they did not asked anglo saxons to come here
@@TheSilmarillian yep as longer correct the ways of they fathers its not happening look at Zealand Canada america even France and others , the repression they do on its citizens the more older origins
If you look at the real historical facts, it won't help her version of the truth... it's easier for them to suggest they had cities and peace and love. If the truth was laid at Thorpe's feet, she wouldn't be able to recognise it. They want the land AND more taxpayer money? I don't think so, have the land you've already got control of, and live your culture... not ours! No more wasted tax funds! You can't have your own country and expect us to fund it, Lydia!!
Keep in mind, over the past 16 years, $490,000,000,000 ... just shy of half a TRILLION dollars - of our taxes - has been paid into the various aboriginal organisations, and what is there to show for it? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! BUT! Don't forget that darling Lydia and her corrupt cronies who head up these same organisations (her true mob), have all been enriched to the tune of many many billions of money. Now just for the sake of the mental exercise, imagine if half a trillion dollars, over a 16 years period, had been invested in health, education and transport sectors. Now look online how much has actually been spent I'm each if those portfolios during the past 4 administrations. Not even a quarter of that amount. But if it had, imagine how much better our hospitals, schools and roads would be right now! So ... who's got it? Someone must have it, because it sure as hell hasn't been spent on aboriginal communities!
