What I love most about him, above his ability to go anywhere and immerse himself, above the way his questions cut straight into the heart of the matter, is how he exudes kindness.
@@Mdmbchdr He has been accused of coercion from what I hear. Maybe he is a “super kind creep”, maybe people are complex, or maybe I only know what we see in the videos up to this point.
I had a really horrible experience with acid-induced psychosis last year, and the part where Andrew talked about having HPPD and the intense de-realization really struck a chord with me. Especially the simulation bit, that was one of my big fears while I was in that state of mind. Thank you Andrew, you're one of my heroes.
I've had HPPD symptoms for about 15 years now, after too many psychedelics. It isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. I've had many runins with psychosis over the years too, as I am bipolar I. There is no shame in being psychologically distinct in what you experience. The HPPD stuff used to be really disorienting but now I am so used to it that it is like it is not there most of the time. I also have a creative knack and LSD was never able to take that away from me, so I don't mind being crazy. I don't take LSD anymore. Those old CRT monitors always made it way worse.
@@sophblissDoes anyone else actually like their HPPD? I was scared for about two days and than it felt like life got way easier. And I love the visuals I get, I feel like it enables me to have a better grasp on certain things I was pretty dreadful on previously such as math. I also have ADHD, and I feel like it comforts me and it helps the time pass sometimes. And when I smoke; I love how it’s akin to a dissociative experience and I feel that it helps me stay off the harder stuff. And what’s weird, is how after LSD is introduced into the body; you gain more affection for weed while gaining more dopamine and serotonin than you would previously.

I've shown this guy's content to people across the spectrum (you choose which) and everyone at least acknowledges it's good even if they don't become fans. It isn't just the mix of comedy and journalism, every late night comic does a version of that, it's how authentic it comes across.

He means he needs to stay away from drugs like weed and hallucinogens because of his derealisation/depersonalisation. He should probably stay away from the nitrous too imo
What I love about Andrew and his crew is that they all seem to be frat boys who do nothing but mess around, but also have 100 times the journalistic integrity that is common right now, and it makes for the perfect blend of news and entertainment
The dude IS the show. its namesake is about his travels. Anyone who is into his stuff enough to figure these things out will always asscosiate it with him. It does not matter what they do going forward with the name, its doomed to fail, just because we as an audience have an expectation they can now never furfill. In their greed, they lost EVERYTHING.
Coming back to this interview and after watching a few of the in-depth interviews Vice has done too, and I am really glad you guys got to collab. Both Vice and Andrew and his team are such amazing journalists and I enjoy both of your guys' content. Two voices of the real media speak together and it has reached across millions of people. Thank you!
I have strong issues with derealization. It’s from PTSD. But I 100% relate to having less connection with reality when I stay in one place and do the same thing too long. I feel like constantly being on the go just distracts me from it. Like I had to watch this video in multiple different sessions I guess you could call them cause if I’m looking at my phone/watch videos for too long it’s like reality disappears and it’s really hard to get like back I guess idk how to say it. Just everything seems like a soap opera haha. Living with derealization episodes makes you really depressed too but I really love how he’s doing his thing and it’s hella inspiring that he’s been super successful.
Damn I totally experience the same thing. Luckily I was able to watch the whole video in one go, but with many other things it's exactly how you said - gotta step away from it just to remind myself that reality exists
His louis theroux bit is fascinating, about asking basic questions to get information first hand. Its appreciating that the audience might not understand or know something while showing them in a direct way and not just trying to explain it to them. Really smart approach.
I didn’t think I could have any more love for this man, but here I am Like it’s just really cool that he’s lookin out for the kids and keeping it wholesome
This man is a gift. Teaches me to listen rather than run my mouth. Teaches me how I might be able to give back to the world in the unique way nobody else could.
@@Yourmom-ww1sp nah not really, most American libs today are centrists at best and their content is no where near a harsh bias to be called propaganda even pro-bernie propaganda
He reminds me of Hunter S Thomposon. Out there. Chasing the american dream or what‘s left of it. Just straight up journalism from the streets. Real people and real stories. Even has a thing for bikers and drug use. Greetings from Germany man!
Andrew is using a technique that a lot of therapists use. People don’t like silence in conversation. If you ask someone a question in a setting where you’re the only two people with the floor and they give you a short/unsatisfying answer, you don’t ask another question, you don’t ask them to elaborate, you just look at them and stay silent. 9 times out of 10, they’ll just keep talking until they reveal something weird/vulnerable about themselves.
He's not into drugs but used to use psilocybin mushrooms. Those two statements don't contradict each other. The past and the present are two completely different time periods with different people doing different things from each other. You can, in fact, be one thing, and then change into something else. That's a real thing that happens to everyone constantly.
As long as you are not found among the criminally insane it is safe at least for now to be crazy or damaged and admit to it. I claim to have lived and died before and so far no one has been able to poke holes in my testimony. I show my cellphone background photo of a grave in the national cemetery and claim to be the spirit guiding the flesh of my firstborn and only begotten son who also types for me. He gave all his rights to my spirit. I became his public defender of private rights also known as the fifth amendment right to shut up. The game of life is best played silently because everything we say can and will be used against us in the court of public opinion. What better public defender could my son choose than the spirit of his creator? what better defense against thought crimes exposed to public scrutiny by loose lips than to silence yourself and let your Public defender claim to be the only person on earth who is able to read your mind? Blessings, respect, and love to all without prejudice from a peaceful and more Heavener kingdom that became self-evident the day my flesh was buried and many people said "REST IN PEASE" I gave my son a life sentence that day in 1999 and he became my diplomat for peace. The world gave every Nobel peace prize to the wrong person every year since my death. My 1000 years of peace were secretly established to begin at the turn of the century so I could claim my son to be a true spiritually guided forwards thinker who will always be twenty years ahead in peaceful diplomatic relations. I had no enemies when I died and I refuse to line up as anyone's enemy now. I only wish to pursue happiness and laugh at people who claim I am a liar. I will always insist it is better to be found a good liar than a complete fool. If anyone asks if I am calling them a fool I will reply that I am not the one arguing with a dead man. HA! HA! HA!
He got it right where Vice went wrong, unfortunately, Vice is well known and everyone knows their opinions, but Andrew remains neutral and let anyone who wants to speak be free to express their ideas.
His words on dissociating is so true and really opened my eyes. The more time you spend in the same place the more your mind picks it apart, moving around really does feel like it's keeping your soul in your body. He's a fucking g man. Inspirational.
@Meat Clown same, i used to move around a lot because my work didnt required me to stay in one place, did it for like 5 years. then started to get homesick a lot. now i did the same thing like you, just laying in bed and watch stuff
Have you lived on the road before? I traveled a lot for several years, lived in a van and it’s very stressful. Now that I finally have a home where I stay permanently I feel much more peace. I think Social media has over-glamorized living on the road. On that note I might be interpreting your comment wrong ha.
Dude, they're perfectly compatible. He had a traumatic experience at 13, which most likely made him stop abusing substances or at least he doesn't anymore. He must be in his mid-20s so he was using shrooms more than ten years ago.

It’s admirable how he really has a perspective and the camera shots/editing style depict it subtly, without trying to force you to realize anything. Choosing to air the 1 crazy interview and skipping the 100 normal ones before it is one of those common techniques used in biased yellow journalism. Be aware this stuff is happening constantly if the journalist is ideologically driven. My point is things arent as neutral as they appear
