This really didn’t need to be seven different segments

I am thankful that that moment in his life did not lead him to take his life. No one is exempt from ever experiencing a moment of vulnerability in their life. No one is perfect. You never know what someone is going through no matter how many smiles they give you in public. No matter the words of encouragement or hope they give in public. No matter the laughs they give you. I pray for peace and healing for him, his wife, and family.

I agree with his statement, that it is best not to judge someone based on their worst day! Boy we have all had one or many of those days. We, or I am so blessed that they were not made public. ‘Let he is without sin, cast the first stone’.

So he met up with a male friend to have cocktails in a hotel room. Got so drunk he passed out, the person stripped him naked then took pictures of him. This person then proceeded to do drugs alone then overdosed. Another male friend shows up and calls the police. Mr. Gillum blanked out for 3hrs and does not recall any of this incident. His wife had no clue where he was, kept calling his phone but was still able to fall asleep and have a good night rest til he turned up the following morning.🤔 Not that it matters but where is the escort let's hear his side.

That photo had to be so humiliating. I hope Andrew overcomes.

If “nothing” happen between Andrew and them “guys” he was in The hotel with, then what Andrew is saying happened to him was a crime and if it’s a crime then Why not seek justice for some one DRUGGING you and taking photos of your naked body and leaking the pictures. But I’m sure Andrew don’t want to get his “buddies” in trouble

I learned nothing in this entire clip to clip interview. A waste. Plus the entire story doesn’t add up.

If Tamron wasn’t so breathtaking and had such a soothing voice, I wouldn’t even watch these Gillum videos.

The fact that he was able to face the humiliation of the photos and interviews on national TV with Tamron Hall means he has the strength to overcome this scandal. Sending Andrew and R Jai and family prayers and positive energy to move forward with healing so they can become better people than they were before this tragedy.

Sheesh! How many segments are there? I feel like I’m watching R Kelly’s Trapped in the Closet, but less entertaining. Will this boring interview ever be over?

You become a person with a target on your back when you have secrets like his. Now, whether you’re bi-sexual or not, when you’re MARRIED, and choose to be MARRIED, you’re life should have taken a change for complete faithfulness to that MARRIAGE. Just my opinion.

Thankful this comment section is much more empathetic. Some of the other comments sections in previous segments were trash. I cannot get over how anyone thinks it’s ok to beat down on a person who is hanging on by a thread. This is why people don’t want to live anymore. You don’t end up on a hotel room floor with everything being alright. Thinking about him and his family as human beings and I hope they find peace and comfort in their lives.

I'm confused. Why is he revealing that he's bi-sexual (something both he and his wife admit to doing begrudgingly) if the meeting in the hotel room was not sexual in nature? Answers around that are still unclear, even after this interview, but whatever ... It is what it is and we'll probably never know all the details. Anyway, I hope they are able to push forward and live good lives personally and professionally.

I have cried watching this interview because he and his wife are such amazing people. So smart, empathetic, reflective, and I could listen to them talk all day! Who are we to judge anyone? I feel like he was completely taken advantage of by his friend. He was way too drunk to know what was going on. It’s sad because his wife is right, if this were a woman this story would have been handled so differently. I love them and I hope they decide to stick this out and come back to politics. ❤️

We are in a year of exposure not for bad but for the good. You cannot fix what you wont confront. What i will say is that his "friend " is as bogish as they come because if you thought he was sick enough to put a towel down etc but wait a min let me take a pic of you at your worst and post it. Thats revenge ive had it happen in my own life. Thats envy and jealousy while trying to tip the scales. The fact remains he hasnt chosen to fully go anywhere because he just didnt want to. Where he went wrong is exposing his true self to a person who was to casual to care about the implications and damage.

Some people are so ungracious and they don’t understand that we as humans are FLAWED. We are vulnerable and imperfect. We do stupid things and make mistakes. If you were in the public eye what would people see from your past? I can tell you I’ve been in the same position he was more than once. Passed out, unconscious and puking.. it’s really not that shocking, is it?! Anyone that is perfect, maybe not. But Lord knows I’m not and neither is he.

Life does go on, it has to but his wife and children have been THROUGH IT by his decision making as the leader of that family.

This is not the first time he had hook ups. This was the only time he was irresponsible to blackout and get exposed. He needed to be exposed so he can really look truly inside and be True to himself. He is still lying to himself

I hope they both get the help they need and my prayers are especially with the children. In politics, however, it is bigger than just saying his private life is none of our business. Andrew clearly wanted to keep his lifestyle under wraps and even his wife admitted that she didn't know if she would've still married him were this info to be made public. So them not wanting this to get out was crucial and that made them an easy target. People close to the situation knew about Andrew's lifestyle long before this even came out publically, and he, therefore, was easy to blackmail (making him the ideal candidate for those behind the scenes and why he was propped up the way he was). It would've been simple for those in the know to leverage what they knew about him personally to then shape his policies (with him merely just being the political puppet) through blackmail. And anyone with siblings knows the power of blackmail. Those who understand politics know it's the name of the political game. That's why politicians never seem to be for the people. Blackmail causes politicians to no longer work in the interest of their constituents, but to those who have the power to reveal the darker side. So we may want to start digging deeper next time we suggest dismissing the interworkings of a public figure's personal life because oftentimes, that is the very thing that determines how policy is shaped.

Screw his "F" up! I guess people were expecting a different story from her as if she didn't know of his sexuality! All women betrayed, hurt, or faced with adversity can learn something from her! The strength of R.Jai! Classy, Poised, and well spoken.

He was drugged, their actions was deliberately done. He's still loved by me. I am glad that she's stayed you never walk away from the ones you love in times of tribulation. Things isn't always as it seems. They knew his weakness and they went in for the kill. Mercy said no.

More questions than answers in this entire interview. If you agree to do an interview, be honest. Gillum is playing head games with himself & playing on words. Nobody cares whether he’s a bi-sexual or gay, that’s his choice. I have questions of my own. When he went into rehab & said his his drug screen was negative, there were 3 whole days before he entered rehab. Then Gillum said something like he passed out in the room. In my opinion he’s covering up this so called memory lapse. Why were you naked dude?! Stop perpetuating a fraud. Don’t piss down my back & tell me it’s raining! What a waste of time. Recovery starts with honesty. Just shut up!

The important thing is that he lived to pray for forgiveness if he did anything wrong or Against God. It is between him and God. We should rejoice that a human life was saved. I can't say if I believe his story, or not because I, like many of you, don't feel the whole story was told. What I do know is that its really not any of my business past what he decided to share. I wish he and his wife well and hope they both strive to live their truth and remember the 3 lives they brought into this world, who deserve a present Mother and Father.

He noted that he didn't fix the drink his friend gave him, but he blacked out soon after. Then he said his toxicology report showed no drugs??? Why was he crying while his wife was being interviewed MONTHS after the fact? Why drag her in this? To hide behind her?? If your sexuality had nothing to do with the incident prompting this interview, WHY ARE WE DISCUSSING IT?? Why couldn't your friend meet you at the bar? Why didn't Tamron press to get clarity on why you left the bar to get a drink???

Andrew and his wife seem very good people. I just feel that he is not telling the truth here. He didn't do drugs, when they were found in his room. He didn't have any sexual contact, when he is naked in the room with a gay escort. I'm sorry, it's just not adding up. I'd like to hear the escort's side of the story. I'm sure it's a lot different to Andrew's.

Why didn't you ask this? I know that you'll never be able to answer this question to me specifically, but how can you do an interview of this magnitude without asking WHY WERE YOU NAKED..... I'm not a journalist, but the first question I had when I saw the photo is.... "WHY WAS HE NAKED.?" Did the other person in the room take his clothing off of him? if so WHY?..... AGAIN WHY WAS HE NAKED? Tamron I believe as a journalist one should not be bias. They should not be slighted towards anyone's beliefs, ideologies, or even political sides. JUST FOCUS ON THE FACTS.... I'm hoping you did not decide to omit this questions (WHY WAS HE NAKED) from your notes. I hate to believe that you had an agenda to coddle Mr. Gillum, to LEAD your audience to feel sorry for him. I hope that is not the case. But it sure seem like it. If you look at Segment 7 when you discussed the photo you only talked about how he felt when he saw the pictures, to then allude to YOU being [uncomfortable] to view it yourself. I get... it's not pleasant to look at, but as a journalist there could have been more to uncover, if you really wanted the audience to get a full picture. The audience has the (unwritten) right to at least have all of the facts before ending any journalistic segment. I support all LGBT brothers and sisters; I know addiction is terrible; and I believe in mercy. What I don’t believe, however, is that the man in all of this segmented interview is coming clean. I hear posturing. I hear implausible denials (No sex? Really??) I hear a politician practicing spin. Own it all, Andrew, and we may start paying attention to you again.
