Bruce Lee’s televisions series Warrior (2019-Present) was released on April 5, 2019 on Cinemax and ran for 2 seasons. The 3rd season premiers on HBO Max on June 29, 2023. Martial Arts Enterprises had the opportunity to interview the lead actor, Andrew Koji, for Martial Arts Entertainment. Andrew Koji is an great actor and a great person. See what he has to say about being an Asian actor and what its like working with a fantastic Asian cast on Warrior (2019-Present).
Plot: During the Tong Wars in the late 1800s, Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy from China, immigrates to San Francisco and becomes a hatchet man for the most powerful tong in Chinatown.

*Warrior:* Where the White leads don't all look like Brad Pit, the Black leads don't all look like Denzel Washington and the Asian leads don't all look like an asexual well aged pensioner.

Warrior is such a good show. He captures the movement of Bruce Lee perfectly but also puts his own style to the character. The first 8 episodes are amazing because the progress is just incredible. First show with a full fledged Asian cast that are just amazing.

It’s not actually the first show like that. Marco Polo is pretty much 95% of Asian cast and also has AMAZING fighters (including the actress who played Ah Toy in Warrior)

I just watched “Warrior” season one today. Andrew is so spectacular to watch acting wise as well as martial arts wise. I am a new fan to this series.💯

I got hooked in the first 10 minutes of episode 1. All of these actors are Brilliant. I am from New York and I am a long time Bruce Lee fan. I use to go to CHINATOWN when I was a teenager and read subtitles to the movies so when they went from speaking Chinese to English in this series I thought that was so smoothly done.

Andrew Koji and Joe Taslim could both play Bruce Lee because they both have his speed, quickness, gymnastics, and martial arts skill sets

I like that in this series there is no flying in the scenes of fighting and jumping up 10 meters up like in Chinese movies

Why is Andrew Koji not in more interviews? Is it because he's not Chinese playing Chinese? Is it because he is the only cast member not contracted to do PR? It's baffling since he's the lead actor in a great show.

I really like the comments about the difference between a true martial artist and a good fighter and I like how the fight with Li Young perfectly illustrates that personally I think as it stands he is the only “true martial artist” on the show I really hope HBO does the right thing
