I heard this song for the first time the day after my dad died. My name is cicely but my family occasionally calls me Cecilia. I bawl my eyes out everytime I hear it. He didn't want me to be afraid. And sometimes.. this song makes me feel like he's moving through me, like a satellite does through space. Guiding me. Protecting me. Sometimes this song is the only thing that makes it okay for a moment that he's gone.

A sweet song for his unborn daughter - he's so good. I don't understand why he's not more well-known.

I love how he wrote this song for his daughter Cecilia. It just proves how much he loves her and what he would do for her. If you listen to the lyrics, you can see how he sings about keeping her safe, loving her, etc. It's beautiful.

My wife and I have seen Andrew McMahon live twice. The second time was just shy of our daughter's first birthday. This song definitely hit harder that time. When Cecelia came out to sing with him, the tears were streaming down my face. He mentioned that he knows someday she won't want to do that anymore and you could tell he's dreading it. It really drove home how important it is to cherish every moment you get to spend with your little ones.

I interpreted that the woman was the representation of Cecilia grown up, innocent, alive and free. She is everything to him, and in return her dad gave her the world.

This is a perfect example of Radio politics. Andrew McMahon has literally been making music this good for the past 10+ years, and it took this long for him to get the recognition he deserves!

My idea probably isn't correct, but I like to think the video is him telling his daughter the story of her mother, how amazing she was and adventures she may have gone on, and then the video is what the child is interpreting. Like he could have said she loved to go camping or hiking and loved the outdoors and this is what the child invisioned because of how much she loved her mother. Idk kinda like displaying how much a mother means to a child. The kind of wonder a child gets from hearing stories, things like that

This song is just beautiful. I was introduced to Cecillia and the Satellite by a friend in high school. I'll never forget the lessons he taught me and the true meaning to what being human is. He was a man I truly looked up to and respected, one I considered family. Now I can never listen to this song without tearing up. Rest in Peace Christopher, I truly hope you found that happiness you were looking for.

Andrew's finally getting some much deserved airplay! took it one year but it's a top 10 hit on alternative and rock radio. for all of you who are new to his work, please PLEASE check out his band before going solo - it's called Jack's Mannequin. i dare you not to completely fall in love with either "The Mixed Tape", "The Resolution", or "Hostage". Andrew's one of the most talented songwriters of our generation and seeing him reach new levels of success is a pleasure.

I think this song is about the little girl (baby) who was born, but then her mother died while giving birth. I think that the baby is Cecilia. The father is saying how he will protect his daughter and how she should't be afraid. I think the book that they are reading is a book that Cecilia's mother made for her, but died before she could give it to Cecilia. Since the mother died, in heaven she is finally able to do all the things she wrote and drew in this book. The father is showing the book to Cecilia since that is what her mother wanted. I could be wrong but that was just my take on it.

This song is easing some of the fear and uncertainty that I've been experiencing since last Tuesday. There is still beauty here; no matter what happens in the next four years.

The first time I heard this song I hadn’t had my son yet. My mom played it for me and told me that out was about the love a parent has for their kids; something you can’t understand unless you have a child. And she was right; I couldn’t understand it until I listened to it again after I had my son, when I listened to it then I actually could feel the love in the song like I couldn’t before.

This song gives me so many Chris McCandless vibes. The part with him crashing his car, the metaphor of him "soaring" (being away from society and being free), the part where he says the best part of his life is "you" which relates to his "Happiness is only real when shared" quote. Also the fact that this album has the word WILDERNESS in the title.

No matter what your genre...this dude actually wrote a great song. Even though it is focused on certain central themes (like names mentioned and specific events), it crosses global boundaries in relation to a story that does not rely on your geographic location to relate to the theme itself. Plus, it only took a few chords...the same we have heard many times before, yet do not recognize, with his own flavor added. That's how the great ones are written...always those familiar progressions.

If you want to talk about underrated, then you should be referring to this man. Not the song. He's been doing this for so long, fighting sickness, and he is just now getting this recognition. No matter what group he's in, he is the soul of it. His lyrics are intricate and poetic. That's rare to see breaking in the mainstream anymore.
