Judicial reform is a must. The US Judiciary is not subject to any checks and balances that all other branches of government experience. Term limits. Impeachment. Ethics and conduct rules with legal penalties. Limits on the power of individual judges to negate regulations. End unsigned and decisions not attributed to judges who decided a case, timeframe mandates to hear a case. Etc

Under the constitution, the role of the court is to interpret the law as passed by congress and to act as a persuasive advisor to the Executive branch in legal matters of importance. It is not the Court's role or duty to make law as the current bench of justices, in majority, presume.

As a Canadian I am tired of hearing that the USA is the best democracy in the world. It may be the greatest economic power and military power, but it is obvious that American democracy is at this time very weak. In Canada criminal law is established at the federal level and then is consistent in all Provinces and Territories. The fact that various States can all go their own way and dare the federal government to try to do something about it, is to me a recipe for problems no matter how long the USA has been around. We did in Canada have rebellions but slowly broke away from British rule without a violent revolution.

@@richardc9634that one is less surprising. Apparently laws that used to exist for trying crimes for the kind of activity of Jan 6 were purged as part of some big legal cleanup in the 1940s. The law being applied here was a bit creative. Creative interpretations don't always survive scrutiny by SCOTUS. Sometimes legal outcomes have less to do with SCOTUS being biased and more to do with Congress being increasingly less productive. Even more so with this train wreck of a court.

@@reidpinchback8850 In this case I think it's both. Usually we have one balancing out the other but congress is falling down and SC is trying to take over. Worse, they are trying to rule according to religious convictions. If this keeps up we won't be recognizable as the US anymore and we won't be able to recover it.

The Supreme Court can dismiss any case against anyone, including its own "Justices", for any reason or for no reason at all, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. There is no oversight for the Supreme Court. The oversight is supposed to be Congress, but when Congress is colluding with the Supreme Court, there is no oversight, and there is absolutely nothing (legal) the American people can do about it.

The Chevron decision is bad for all Americans, including Republican voters. Societies need experts and specialist agencies to protect us. It is sad that SCOTUS has made this ruling and if Trump is reelected many of these agencies will be gutted. Knowledge replaced by ideology. It's remarkable that Republican voters don't understand just what they are doing. The party of law and order, the 'conservatives' are throwing law out the window and tearing everything down.

Did any of you ever listen to a Metropolitan Opera singer with a cold? Tim on the Bullwark came in with a cold not long ago, and the young man didn't give a good performance. Maybe you should consider that a wise elder faced a scripted man who practiced his selling job while Biden stood and listened. Colds create a minimum of synchronized movements in the face, and he was a tough 82-year-old doing his job as a performer and a governor. The other side just lied and has ruined our artistic, cultural, and civilized work here in New York City throughout these years. Biden is the only logical choice. He's a pro facing a performing dilettante repeating his simplicities that he uses every where we go. Practice makes perfect but star turns are not governing. It's just cliche.

It was a performance that Biden pushed for. Trump didn't want to debate. We didn't even need the debate to know these candidates. So Biden was ill-prepared and ill-practiced. He's debated Trump before and should have had a strategy to debate how we all knew Trump was going to perform. The fumbling was more than an issue because of a cold. I'm not dazzled or dissuaded by performance on a stage. But some people are. Look at any political rally. Not just Trump's. But I'll vote Democrat over Trump or MAGA politics and I've been an Independent my whole voting life.

There is a glaring short circuit in the separation of powers between the President and the Court. Congress must make the Supreme Court ideologically balanced and justices must be accountable. Otherwise, we have a small group making law.
