and yet he refuses to use one, because the cable is iconic to his presence. seeing it fly around while he jumps and high kicks and headbangs for an hour straight.
This guy is the reason god invented humans. 6000 odd years later and he finally made one right. Pretty low success rate for a supposably tri-omni deity you might say, but I reckon this song was worth it.
So you come on a video of a band you hate just to be a whiney little bitch - get the fuck over yourself and go and find something you do enjoy if you're even capable of said emotion.
to play the way andrew does, it is essential to ROCK OUT. for reasons other than spiritual, you gotta slam the keys for that punchy sound his piano riffs have.
Ok,sooooo, download JerryLeeLewis, playing 'GreatBallsOfFire',or "WholeLottaShakin",or "Wild One","Highschool confidential".. they call him The Killer for a reason....he used to set his piano on fire for God's sake zzz...lmao...
Dude is a legendary performer, his energy is unmatched even all these years later. Also what makes it even better is he’s one of the nicest dudes ever and truly loves and appreciates his fans.
I did street team for Dropkick Murphys at the 2003 Warped Tour so was backstage for the entire show. I got to meet Andrew and he was such an awesome guy. My friend asked if he could have Andrew's shirt and his manager said, no, that is his only shirt. At one point during the show he got in a car with some fans and went to 7-11. His manager was running around "where is Andrew". Very funny. After the show, after all the bands left, Andrew hung out with me and a small group of 5 people for about 45 minutes. Talking, taking pictures. So Andrew was the last to leave the party, partied hard until he was the last one there.
@@DAatDA why would he need another? God himself reached down and gave us Party Hard because he belatedly realised that Jesus was cool, sure, but not quite cool enough.
I agree. I remember that performance and was blown away by the energy level. This guy's 1st gear is overdrive. Spinal Tap may go up to 11, but Andrew WK STARTS at 11
it’s a great snl performance cuz it gives you a full picture of what he’s all about. just pure physical energy and embracing everything fun about life. you take away “don’t take yourself too seriously and you can have this much fun too” from this performance.
Mad props to the director on this night for capturing the absolute chaos unfolding. That opening shot of Andrew's face and the quick zoom out to the band going absolutely ham is 👌
I've been to the SNL set and it's a lot smaller than it appears on TV. I can only imagine the thundering, concussive sound that night. Every bone in every body in that studio was probably warmed a few degrees just on the vibration of water molecules. Like an SNL Party Microwave.
This would be an incredible step up for SNL today. They just had the most wack performance by Kanye West and Lil Pump. It was just so bad, even by hip hop standards, which are pretty damn low especially for live performances.
They show it as an "SNL Classic" on Saturday Prime Time ALL the time because it was the first or second time Dwayne Johnson was the host. It has a permanent place on my DVR for this performance alone.
I only vaguely knew this song, and didn't even know why....then. Along came Nekrogoblikon. They feature this in one of their songs on their album Heavy Meta... anyone who reads this....OMG. The energy brought by this guy plus Nekro....enough cardio for a week! ENJOY!!!!!
If you have sorry cuz a lot of the mainstream artists are into opiates. Opiates makes everyone lazy in the music industry these days including the Mumble rappers and drinking all that lean. It has to do with the choice of drugs these days as well but I believe Andrew WK made this song for your stereotypical house party. Cuz that's what this feels like. And that's how music should be. More artists need to be putting on their music with great energy because people will love them for that.
2022 here. AWK is still the genius in the room for his ability to walk a fine line between trained musicianship, marketing camp, and - most importantly - genuine, inspiring, fun! Love that guy!!!
Seen him live twice...of all of the concerts I have seen...this guy was by FAR the most entertaining and energetic performer! The electricity ran through the room. Who...Elton...Queen...Zeppelin...all good but NOBODY owned an audience like this guy! I had a smile from start to finish. Had to smoke a cigarette adterwards!
This dude is quickly climbing the ladder to being my all time favorite artist (Dave grohl holds the crown Andrew is second in line) he's like the human equivalent of cocaine just a fucking amazing time the entire time he's there
I remember this when it first aired. I didn't know what to think of this guy. I was starting to really mature in my musical tastes and my initial reaction to Andrew was "Really? This is what we've come to?" But this is a lot more fun now than when I originally first saw it.
His lyrics and music are so simple they are ridiculous. But it’s impossible not to love this guy. The massive amount of energy and exuberance they bring to the set overrides the “bro”ness of it all. You said it perfectly....you want to make fun of it, but it’s too hard not to have fun listening to it
I don’t know… that could be the most energy in a performance I have ever seen! That was intense…. My phone actually started to head bang! I felt that!! 🤘
