I'm sorry for also bringing that down and contradicting it, but Systema DOESN'T work. Why doesn't Spetznaz train Systema? Why doesn't any special forces unit train such technics? Because they doesn't work. Because such a way of training with knife is mostly defective (some of it's concepts are ok, most of them unfortunately are not) Furthermore: Systema was developed overnight, no one knows how and why. It's not based on almost any concepts of known martial arts and fighting systems. Why almost always does Systema training look like training in slow motion? "Because if we were training faster, we could harm each other"? No. It's cause the things which work during Systema slow motion training would almost never work full speed. If we don't want to "harm each other", we train in full training gear, in full protection. But during Systema training sessions such a way of training isn't carried. Why? It's cause instructors are afraid that Systema training isn't effective. Fairly so. I know, that in a moment you're gonna be throwing amy arguments on why Systema works and I'm wrong. That you're gonna forward assume, that YOU're right. That you're not gonna want to objectively check the truth. I know. I've been through this too. I behaved like this too. I was like this with aikido, than with Systema, with european krav maga. But eventually I learned to every time try to objectively see through facts. I recommend you doing that. sorry, but which of the numerous systema styles are you referring to? and what do you meany by they only train in slow motion?? I m not a regular practioner but at every gym I ve visted in recent times there has ALWAYS been full speed sparring for those willing to participate. If this doesnt work, why did ex-Spesnatz members train in it and why do they teach it to civilians? they could just teach some basic Sambo instead, and since Sambo is more popular make even MORE money out of that than teaching a rather obscure art. and no: it was not developed "overnight", it is a very old martial art that almost died out during the Stalinist fascist reign. where have you actually trained Systema to pass an objective judgement? It cant be Augsburg, Toronto or Moscau for sure. if you really want to proove that this doesnt work, go to an expert and challenge him with your attacks. the instructors of this art are very open to this. typing false statements very easy to debunk by just visiting a really good training spot for a day wont help here.
