Surprisingly a lot of rallies Rublev didn’t go for big flat angled shots but was willing to put the safer shots to stay in long rallies and still won them. Against Medvedev the best grinder, that was very brave.

What a final rally. Really sums up how he won and how to beat Med in general (or at least have a chance). As seen in other matches, it’s all about being patient,unafraid of long exchanges, and willing to pull the trigger at the right moment against Med.

You can see the uncluthness from Medvedev which was the biggest factor the entire last year and the ATP finals where he literally lost three matches in three deciding set tie-break with two matches where he failed to close out the match on his serve. It’s not going to be the case this time as he looks much more confident and dialed-in than it was last year

Nice to see Rublev get one against Medvedev. Prior to this Medvedev had Rublev completely figured out and you got the sense Rublev had a kind of mental block against Med, like playing an older brother. Nice to see him rise above that.

What Rublev did in 2.5 hours, make that double and that's when you will see a "chance" to beat Djoker in Grand Slams. Make that 1.5 times for a non- GS match. Djoker is making the most of 5 setters within 4-5 hours with Roger and Nadal. 3 setters are a piece of cake for Djokovic now. The man is forged with fire.

Thanks to this video I thought this wss from this year's tournament. Then I just saw the standings and it said Rublev had lost 2 matches and not won a set and that got me really confused. You could have mentioned this was from last year. Sneaky man.
