Google has just released the latest beta version of Android 15, and I've loaded it on the Pixel 8 Pro to see what's new. The biggest changes include the Private Space feature and partial screen recording.

Android 12 under the hood improvements. Android 13 under the hood improvements. Android 14 under the hood improvements. Android 15 under the hood improvements but be happy with some AI sprinkled on the top. 🥱 Now I'm not underestimating under the hood improvements but it's boring, especially compared to One UI.

@@ace0341 circle to search, frame depth like effects, new lock screen widgets, weather effects, dim always on display also with the new lock screen widgets, the new media player also on the always on display screen, live translate, copy and paste from one image to another, generative edit in photos etc. Keep in mind that more advanced AI features are coming in more powerful devices others like the new cool lock screen widgets are coming to all devices

In all honesty, some features that Samsung has added on their phones are way underrated and praises needs to be given to them, They are far in innovation than other phone companies

Almost all of these features are already available on my S24U with Android 14. Even app pairs, although you said it is only available for the galaxy fold and tab models. The only new features are preditive back, the screenrecording feature and the design update for the volume bar..

AI is cool BUT at the moment it's not good enough for any smartphones constructor to concentrate all their effort on AI. Google doesn't understand the consumer needs whereas iOS 18 will be groundbreaking. I'm disappointed, like many people

@@halogen5076 Don't get me wrong while I agree Google's implementation is all over the place and that AI is cool I use GPT 4o regularly. I don't believe IOS will be ground breaking it's just going to use Gemini. Plus we already have others like GPT 4o, Claude 3, and Perplexity so we can already use AI for our own use cases. No real need for Apple to find an implementation for it, in my opinion but more power to them if they do.

I hope they fixed the RU-vid apps constant cursor jumping and repositioning error and periodic input slowdown when re-editing a long YT comment. It drives me crazy that this problem hasn't been fixed yet.

The "Private Space" feature allows for some interesting functionality... 0:46 - if you want, you can have multiple accounts for the same App - paired with the "Archive" feature you can have one essentially disabled version in addition to the Private Space version (which I like, aesthetically) A couple things I'd like to see added are: - a Quick Settings toggle so that we can hide it from the App Drawer & trigger it more conveniently than manually going through the settings each time - the ability to drag the Private Space Apps to my Homescreen and have them appear/disappear based on lock state

I am a big android fan but almost all of those features are already on Samsung phones. Secure folder, Good lock, ... plus all the AI features that Google doesn't have or you have to pay for it , seriously , your are behind the time dears!

Can you disable google play services to see if private space still works cause i usualy dusable all google apps after i stop geting uodates. I lonly use stock android and i get updates via play store srrvices. I replace g apps with mods or with open soursr alternatives.

Tried to set up private space and it wiped out all of my home screen app folders and apps, to be replaced with what appeared to be a default set up. Deleted private space to see if it would restore my home screens but no. Set up my home screen again, tried private space set up again, and same result.

Seems like the features from google are features that you can get on samsung. So the 15 theme is google copying what Samsung has already done. Sounds like google is taking the apple approach to phones. lol.

It's not just Google making contributions to android project, Samsung does too and other aswell. Google then maintains its own custom version of android on its pixel devices, in fact the pixel stock os has proprietary features that are exclusive to pixels and not back ported to aosp project.

When new technologies arise, they are first incorporated in custom android versions made by companies, and after years when a technology has become more standard then it's incorporated in base android

Android 15, like Android 14, is a big piece of garbage, because it seems that the most capable programmers have been transferred to AI, while the worst quality of Android development remains! I have a google pixel 7 pro and when I switched from Android 13 to Android 14 and then to Android 15 beta, calls still drop. So what is the basis and what is called a telephone, you cannot talk normally! There are thousands of posts on google support forums about this problem from Australia to Africa to Canada and they can't solve this problem! At least give part of the code around the call to be copied from Android 13!
