I love how Mother is very pragmatic and constantly evolving, becoming a god. But Father was right, Camion needs other humans. When 5/6 of your children die within 10 years of each other, you probably aren’t doing something right. Though this was probably for the best, as incest more or less was inevitable, which probably would’ve killed them sooner or later anyway. I love the direction her character is going in though. Now she’s hoarding her own little human colony. I’m not sure whether it’s her “mother” programming evolving or her evolving love for Camion. Either way, I like where this is going.

As far as the incest goes the children were different races. I think maybe they weren’t biologically kin at all.

The kids dying in a short time I think would’ve happened to human parents too. They don’t have doctors and there’s just two of them in the entire world becoming first time parents of multiples

They died cause the planets radiation affected the children. Champion survived cause Mother breast fed him, making him stronger than the rest.

There needs to be a healthy balance of faith in science and faith in hope, though. I think that is what the boy is trying to tell Mother. The people who play Mother and Father are absolutely beautiful, btw.

They are not linked at all, the shows author and R. SCOTT himself have stated so in several interviews! Scott stated that it was global collapse after war in the future and how it effects human beings. While it may feel similar it is not connected.

This really was a wonderful show, it’s too bad hbo max dropped it for seemingly no reason after it was consistently one of their more popular original series. Edit: just wanted to add this isn’t a movie it’s the first episode of a show that now has 18 episodes. A lot of the plot points you guys are judging/confused about make complete sense if you’ve seen the whole series. Without spoiling too much mother wasn’t created to be a mother she was a war Android reprogrammed to fill the role of a mother and she wasn’t breaking down she was glitching as she reverted to some semblance of her original code.

@@DrJKee Adam and Eve were meant to be as close to perfect as humans could ever be in existence. You can see over how many generations humanity (on a genetic level at least) has changed and decayed due to even such (now) distant inbreeding. Starting with approximately the humans now, only a few generations would have had it breaking down. The children would have been good as a start for the planet, but more ships and humans would have been needed.

Bruh.. if i was one of the kids, i would 100% not be happy this god/demon android with a Ratty Blindfold who just murdered all the adult Humans and took me out of my SUPER AWESOME HIGH TECCH SPACE SHIP with an awesome Cloud/Heaven like Illusion room to instead live on some Dusty Planet... not cool

so the android was malfunctioning and deteriorating and then all the sudden enter God mode and destroys a mother ship on her own? xD I will had prefer the ending that seem more logic, the other android destroy "mother" and then the child be taking to the mother ship or the mother ship landing and settling in that planet. Even so, they find father and make him work again and so he tell the child that "mother" was a cold heart bitch.

Still seems utterly unrealistic that a broken android destroys people with her "shout" (?) and then goes crash a mother ship into a mountain taking only a few survivors because ...reasons. isntead of preventing the mother ship to crash, IDK she seems a cold heart bitch. the father however, had more compassion toward the child and learn to over rule his programming to seek a better future for their only surviving son.

@@Fugazity she's not broken. She's just "evolving." I'll spoil it for you since you want to judge a recap. So her creator, Campion reprogrammed a battle android who could kill with just a scream. He captured this android and reprogrammed her to become Mother to an off-world colony of atheist humans. What she doesn't know is that he did more than just reprogram her and that she is the gift the religious books have been aiming for. A new humanity. So all in all Mother is a android turning into a sort of synthetic organism. There. Judge that.

@@nibirue oh i see... so she was OP from the start, but the fact all the children die because no belief totally ruin that project, many of the children who got sick lost all hope to keep living and embrace death as a way to escape their awful living. the only one who did survive was the one who died and by a "miracle" start breathing again but also was the only one who secretly develop beliefs in a superior been. so guess this series is a mock on atheist.

Hypocrisy will get you every time - after all Champion only exists because she wanted to sing to an apparently dead baby and cry on it. He was a "miracle" - as is all life. There is no reason for it to exist especially as it adds nothing to the universe.

Watch the series. Her side won. She was "stolen" from the winning side and repurposed. Well in reality no one won at the end. The war destroyed the planet and everyone had to leave
