Sacrifice, wrath, a giant sea monster, beauty and heroism. Here are the ingredients for a myth and a tragedy. Andromeda, is the daughter of Cassiopeia and Cepheus, queen and king of Aethiopia.
Cassiopeia boasts about her daughter's beauty, saying she is more beautiful than the Nereids.
Poseidon then sends Cetus, the huge sea monste to ravage the coast of Aethiopia as divine punishment.
Andromeda, chained on a rock to be sacrificed and sate Cetus is heroically rescued. Perseus, riding Pegasus, saves her and marries her before taking her to Greece.
The Andromeda constellation and galaxy are named after her.
The vanity and waste of our most precious treasures, such as our children's lives, are very topical themes. Will the monster that will swallow up our lands and steal the lives of those we love meet a Perseus to save us?
