Hearing Andy talk about his process over the years with these different iterations has been awesome. I've never felt a desire to replicate a skater's entire set-up down to the hardware until Andy. I haven't skated with risers for years, and I haven't skated with deck rails ever. I realize that imitating a set-up isn't gonna make me a better skater, but it's refreshing to hear someone that has a well-thought-out reason for their choices.
Powell is really doing so much for skateboarding. It's not just putting out great content, finding passionate skaters, but also helping Andy improve & refine his concepts for new board designs. It's honestly fascinating as heck. Especially when you learn all the aspects of the board design that has actual functioning pieces of it. Like a puzzle 🧩 that all fits together to create a single enhanced functioning board 🛹. It's awesome to see someone who's really trying to mess around with boards and really do it in a unique awesome way.
Rodney mullen must think of you so highly bro you truly are a prodigy if the sport and freedom of skateboarding. He like you are the goats of this thing we all love so dearly. Your amazing Andy can't wait to see you get that Olympic win bro
I was trying to share this with a friend of mine :) Glad it's back up and even more pumped to rip the board now that it is out. Thank-you Andy and Nigel for what ya do!
The amount of thought, blood, sweat and energy Andy put into the design of this board is insane! I just bought one with the theory map grip tape. And I don’t even skate anymore but this man must be supported!
Andy (and any other skater out there), when you're done cutting your grip tape, drag the blade backwards across the tape in your dark slide section and it'll re-align the blade edge and help it last longer between sharpenings. A leather strop helps as well. Also, if your blade is super dull, keep in mind that stone is regularly used as a knife sharpener, and if you learn how to sharpen a blade, you can use different coursenesses of stone to hone your blade. Keep your blades sharp, fellas.
Bro Andy is a genius! I've landed 2 tricks for the first time ever rolling and clean. I landed a shuv and a fakie shuv rolling and clean. The square nose and tail really do keep it level and I landed a treflip 3rd try but I landed with my tail but and I'm getting closer to my first kickflip! Obviously I'm beyond stoked and really think every skateboarder would benefit so much from this shape. The crooks are better the flips the stability. Sorry for the long winded explanation lol. Thanks for being you Andy and NKA.
how are you landing treflips and doing crooks before kickflips? :D but for real, the board is great! i skated it for the first time today after receiving it yesterday, landed a heelflip first try in a game of skate on defense; didn't land one in a year (i never try them, only in games of skate :D)
I completely don't understand why either! I did get the kickflip but not rolling yet. So awesome that you got the heelflip, especially on defense! The treflips are not good btw I'm trying my ass off every chance I get. Being 32 doesn't help but never too late to learn anything in my opinion.
The creator has blessed you Nigel and your native upbringing has really helped your mind I bet. I just went to a pow wow last week and cried a bunch. Lol.
Thanks for the video, as always Nigel. That is a really cool board art. There is alot of consideration and thought behind the picture. I do miss watching Andy ripping with the Powell Crew and Dan etc. Having seen much since NYC stuff. Love to see more content of shredding.
I really want this board for my son… he’s finally coming around and starting to love to skate as much as I do, it must be a great board because it’s sold out everywhere 😢 I love what you’re doing Andy bringing a whole new generation to love skateboarding ❤❤❤
Powell should sell a stencil with the board that you can lay on the nose and tail then spray paint it to get all these lines or zones in the board that Andy is talking about. Great for beginners and even advanced skaters struggling with a trick.
@@LonnieHutchinson90 A 8.25 Heron Egg would be awesome. I'm super stoked for this one. I'm about to watch the video now. Love listening to AA talk skate science.
I just ordered one today. I am looking forward to trying this shape. After skating for 20 years, it is great to see someone trying to innovate shapes from the popsicle shape. I skate ishod twin shaped boards now, so I am excited to try it out.
So excited! Was trying to find this video again earlier, but I guess it was taken off. I'm riding the 9.13 right now, but am trying to apply the same principals for the old tail. Thanks so much for the sick content Nigel!!!
I got one brutha and been waiting for bearings for 2 days that were supposed to be here. I can not wait to set it up and finally get my first kickflip! Thanks for being you my dude¡!
Did you get the kickflip?? I’m a freestyle skater so bad with pops and non pressured flip tricks but want to be able to do more then an Ollie and pop shuv did this help you get the flip? My flip on a regular deck isn’t fast enough for me it’s been a struggle. I’m hoping this board will help
Will definitely buy the new board. Have been riding Andy's boards for about 5 years now. All of them have been really good. Heron 2 are my favourite right now. Looking forward to try this one to!
I don't know what trucks he's useing if it the 8.7 or the 8.3.its crazy that he had it all in the 1st heron decks and just had combined the front and back parts pieces like the corners of the tail but bent them ,then the bend to the center from the tail and the took the very end of the nose cause the tail was to straight and not good for truckstands and the curve on the edge of the nose for primo flips and the size from the smaller heron lol its just mind blowing ahhhh> I just love it .and 7 In on the toes so when you where it down. It's becomes a nother tail wtf how clever it two 4 boards in one
Looks awesome. Hint for the rails: use blue tape to help with holding them in place while you screw them on. That way, you can put more focus on the screws and can provide exact placement every time. Add hint: Cordless drills are cheap and are your friend. I get wanting to do it by hand also, though, for the soul factor. Cheers bro! Nice deck!
The thought and love that went into that coming from an early idea is just really nice to see. Already decided I want to give those wheels a go but maybe it should be more of a complete set.
Finding generalizations and correlations with others you can teach anyone anything as long as you have a common interest of understanding. The same thing can be applied to yourself for learning new subjects and perspectives.
What Andy is saying is very true. Sometimes explaining something in another way other than skate terminology can actually help someone learn faster especially if they have never skateboarded but they have experience in other sports or hobbies.
Ordered 2 of em, got tre's the first day on it after 5 months of going for them. not sure if it was confidience, board, or both but hell, the board is gnarly.
The first time was like a month ago. I watched the whole thing and then went back to comment on it because I wanted to see if there was a release date for the deck and it was gone.
@@MikeArpeggio345 yeah, I came back to it after watching the video from the camp where Andy talks about the last experimental version. In that video, Andy has something cut saying he didn't want it to be known yet. Got me curious so wanted to watch this video again to see if I could figure out what it was that was so secret...but it was gone!
On another note... there's more information about how different tricks work in this one video than I ever had growing up. I feel like I could actually learn some of these tricks easier now than when I tried them 25 years ago. 🤦
I figured out hard flips again. And they are flipping easier when I put his method and reasoning to use. It's counterintuitive, but for hard flips I put the ball of my foot on the outside edge of the tail and it flips right around.
i love how Andy’s theory map griptape looks sooooo much like the Vajra…that the dragon is holding, shown on Andys latest vajra baby heron deck graphic, So in the graphic the dragon is popping a trick mid motion grabbing the the Vajra (skateboard) on a hydrant. I love how the dragons wings are like how every skaters arms are at the “POW” moment of a trick, so much so i can no longer see a skater Pop a trick without thinking … theres another little dragon working his/her magic with the power of the vajra, their vajra manifested as a skateboard… in my mind, even tho Andy Anderson doesnt think he is the dragon i feel he is a baby heron that has morphed into a golden dragon empowered by the Vajra, George the dragon on the og powell/parelta graphic is the OG golden dragon that morphed hirmself from the heron state, and births all the Herons that intern morph into dragons both Herons and Dragons as they take flight, to me, represent that “POW” moment in skating when a trick takes flight. love u guys, keep evolving skateboarding!!!!
😅 I swear that 8.4 is literally the best size for this board especially since it goes to an 82 in the center so it's really just magic. Still and having trouble putting down the first Heron board but man the this last bored here is just right on point. Cuz with the egg when I was going to ollie out of the kickers since the egg got narrower I would miss the board or like lose my footing cause it seems like it was just so thin even though its 8.7 to 8.5 .and because it went from the 8.7 in the center to 8.5 at the toes i just couldn't get over it .but on this one is smaller one since it goes 8.2 in center to 8.4 at the toes it makes it feel bigger like way bigger and i can Ollie way higher and stay on the board without feeling like I'm going to fall off or feel like I'm losing the board as my foot goes for truckstands and Caspers and even the primos don't feel so see sawy this deck is stable and I can't get over how it's ever thing I've ever wanted in a board and the wheels it's been a decade trying to find a offset wheel for Bowles ,street and freestyle omg .just thank you so much
Drinking game or smoking game ... Everytime Nigel says "sick" take a drink or a bong hit 🤘🥴🤘 NkA Vids, big ups to all the work you put in, getting to see the behind the scenes and detail that Andy put in to make his Decks. (Which came out 😷sick🤢 by the way). MASS LOVE 💕 TIMES ☠️ INFINITY ♾️ !!!
When should this one be available? I have skated all the previous decks and can't wait to try this one too. 8.45" heron flight deck is my favorite so far.
@authenticandyanderson Thank you so so very much and I just realized...the egg graphic it's your skull but if you really look it's the vajra I feel like the egg graphic should be switched with the new deck and it'd but just right but things work in mysterious ways if you could ever get me a vajra deck with an egg graphic.and an egg deck with vajra graphic I'd do anything for that plz also I just want to say I hope we meet just to tell you how greatfull I am cause this deck and the wheel is what I made years ago and it's literally everything to me. I could never find the right wheels that were offset wheels but skateable for street and didn't like that I needed 40washrrsto make them work and the deck make cocowheelies so easy and I always wanted the lingering freestyle deck but bigger and this is it
