This song was directed at ZANU PF and it's ruthless and selfish leaders. Doro munongotambura naro hamugone kusira vamwe meaning 'You are clueless of running the country yet you can't leave it to others who can efficiently run the country' .
Fun fact : There are two slightly different versions of this song, both from 2003. There is Shungu which was the lead track on Andy Brown's 2003 album (Passage of time) and then there is Zim connection which was on Revolution's 2003 album (The Journey Continues). Because "Zim connection" was a collaboration with Revolution, it is a house track, and a classic one too. "Shungu" however is not exactly a house track with a clearer feel of the live instrumentation and was also a banger. You could easily play either version in club and most people wouldn't really notice or care. They just loved the song, and the sing along . . . . especially if they were drunk. About the backing vocalists, I cant help but wonder if Chiwonisa was not in there. Those that know, please educate.
There is a version released on Tigere CD (Metro Studios). I don't know if it was recorded in 1997, or if it was added to a later reedition of Tigere CD (it does not appear on the K7). Chiwoniso could have ensured the backing vocals in 1997 😉🙂😊
Still can't believe Andy is gone we love you forever bro. I was fortunate enough to bump into any brown in Mopani bay Kariba once and the guy was a stand up guy he spoke to me with respect and did not even have that I'm better than you attitude that some stars have.
