Don't stop there... the goodies go back all the way to '87 and beyond!! 1993 was the year Jungle really took hold tho - check out Top Buzz from around then, and 1994-95 the golden years I'd say. 1996 onwards is basically when it became D&B... search for live sets from AWOL 1993-94(paradise club), World Dance (the AAA 1995 mickey finn one from Lydd is a wicked vid), Roast, Telepathy, Kool FM, One Nation... that'll give you a glimpse of the original jungle scene. Enjoy!
andy c was one of the original's in the 90's to start promoting drum and bass. he also owns RAM records whicg is arguably the biggest drum and bass label. now if u think u can mix or produce anything anywhere near his standards then please tell me cos i highly doubt it
Same here around the same time as Rizednb I’m quite lucky to have played a few place over the years.. nothing to Andy C level but still bless 🙏🏻 One wish... be Andy C for a day 😂🙋🏻♂️
@innoc3ntcriminal WRONG..Search Andy C House of Blues or Andy C Thanksgiving LA...packed house in the middle of the week on a national holiday, we know what's up.. I've seen UK vids where you guys just stand around where people like me(into dnb for 15 years) would KILL to see you're opening DJs..this was the last set of a two day 12 hour per day festival...lotta ppl were tired (me not being one of them) Plus the stage was in a absolute SHIT location, a walkway right in the middle of the crowd...
I've been into dnb since 2009. I like old school jungle, liquid, drum n' bass, breakbeats, etc. I don't have as much credibility as you, I'll give you that, but it's truly become a huge part of my life.
@innoc3ntcriminal thats what everyone says on every video like this. i was in the crowd. everyone was going crazy. i WISH i could go to the UK though cause the dnb scene here blows -_-
DKay & Lee - Tuning VIP >>Krust - Warhead (TC Remix) Culture Shock - Bad Red Hold Tight - Lounge (DC Breaks Remix) Sub Focus - Triple X >>Bad Company - 4 Days Dj Fresh - Talkbox >>??? ??? maybe someone knows the last two tunes ?
and in terms of changing the subject... I asked why you were listing classic UK D&B to "educate" someone on why the UK has no good D&B. You responded with questions about a London producer's aliases and a European producers/DJ's challenge... a clear and direct response if ever there was one (that last line is to be read sarcastically by the way).
Well it was Acid House 87-90, Hardcore 90-92... then the 'big split' and Jungle/D&B and happy hardcore from 94 onwards pretty much. You should check out some of the original happy hardcore too. And for a whole history in on DJ look up Kenny Ken or Jumping Jack Frost... massive names pretty much from 88-89 right through to 2012 D&B. Anyway... I'll stop waffling on now, information overload!! :)
Really? I don't know what you count as drum n' bass and stuff, but I'm kinda of an all-encompassing DnB fanatic, and I've heard that Andy C, Chase & Status, Sub Focus, and the like are pretty popular over there.
Don't worry, it's been going on forever... I first started going to raves in 1995 and there were plenty of older jaded ravers ready to tell me it was shit now... "1992 was the year mate" etc. Underground music will always attract a few who want to feel like they're special and claim it for themselves, Mr Vegas a case in point, but at the end of the day it's a party scene, founded on peace love and unity... follow your own path and ignore jaded old blokes with a chip on their shoulder!
Right, got my tea... ready for some schooling. Since you're not actually offering anything other than this 'I know the secret but I'm not telling and you're all stupid' angle (useful), I had a look at your page... Electric Daisy Carnival!!!! hahaha DEEP UNDERGROUND man... I din't realise I was in the presence of such a scholar! What can you tell me about EDM and fluffy boots? What's the deal? What am I missing? Let's see if you can ever post a straight answer...
I love the way how you get all these people from the US and Canada etc saying there is nothing that they can't be told about drum and bass jungle. Everybody can hit the web and start searching dj's , mc's producers , labels etc. Come out and tell everybody how much they know. if you were not blasting kool fm , rush fm and all other stations. Hitting A.W.O.L, Teleps(telepathy for noobs) Thunder and Joy, Roast, voodoo magic, Orange etc etc week in week out , you will never know.... not even close
Awesome, man! I hate it when people are skeptical about young newcomers to DnB. I think young people are good to have in DnB, because it's one less kid listening to the glitzy pop and hip hoppy, dance bullshit. I think welcoming them is great, and DnB purists who think 13 year olds who listen to DnB are "fags" just don't make sense to me. I will admit, though, that I have a passionate love for the newer DnB as well as the old, no matter how "fake" it is. ;) There are still talented DnB artists!
cant wait to create with freinds and family soul shine canvas-and cloak banging beats again ..wish i could get vocals basck from plp but stupid petty bs is drying my river and stream of thinking
There are plenty more... he's just supplies the 'Jamaican' vocals on the biggest of all the original ragga jungle tunes, so made my point incredibly. I've been to D&B parties in Sao Paulo, Rio, Salvador, La Paz & Bogota... there are plenty of amazing, thriving little scenes out there. But besides trolling, I'm not sure why you'd hate London/UK so much from a far? There's plenty of good music, big raves and creativity coming from the original source. It's not a competition muggy chops.
haha you genuinely are making me 'LOL' now, I hope you're doing this knowingly, props to you if you are - the facepalm level of irony is classic. I'm not going to block you, and we've not spoken one word about D&B really - you've just exposed a gaping whole in your understanding of it and of the UK. You've not tested my knowledge in the slightest.. and you've stopped arguing and are hilariously trying to find some moral highground. I'll stick around for a bit, you're entertaining :)
mate seeing as dnb and dubstep originated in the uk and most of the leading artists and dj's across both genres are british, i really dont think you can complain about the quality and production level of our music. the only dubstep artists u have that i know are excision datsik and skrillex which in my opinion are all wank except datsik
You've never said anything to me about D&B... not once. You made some odd comments about Jamaica's influence on early jungle which showed you up as a blagger and have then spent about 500 words talking about toys and owning me and saying DING DING DING.
the fact is, USA has little creativity to offer any music genre apart from hip-hop and rap. because d'n'b has made the charts means naff all. just shows how bloody awesome it is and why it's kept alight in the UK with several sub-genre's for 10+ years. just appreciate we can offer you one of the best DNB DJs on the planet who's kept it real for the time he's been involved in the genre. and by the way, all brits will tell you how lame american crowds are. proof is all over youtube :).
My apologies, it's 10am here in China so the working day has just got going... pointless arguments on youtube, as drawn in as I am, have to wait. So me not firing off Netsky in a heartbeat (or Proxenet if you want to go west) proves the UK D&B is dead? OK, how about the return round.... 1) tell me who started mega-UK rave Slammin' Vinyl and what their original names as DJ/producers were... 2) where and when was the first Jungle Fever held... 3) Give me 3 of the top DJ's in Bogota, Colombia.
mate, we're on the internet... that shits all available in a nano-second. I'm not playing 'who's the biggest D&B nerd', I'm pretty sure you'll win (you seem insanely competitive and nerdy, so put a much higher value on cat no's etc than I imagine I do). I can tell you Dillinja's from South London though... again, destroying the only point you have that I'm contending.
What am I missing here... Jonny L (London), Commix (Cambridge), Highersense (Ant Miles - Andy C's long time collaborator, also UK). All dancefloor bangers agreed - including the dopest D&B tune of all time no less (wouldn't put up a big fight on that). But confuses your fuck the UK rhetoric a bit doesn't it?
Is that supposed to be insightful? Jamaica was a British colony and London has been full of Jamaican's since the fifties... Punk & Ska we're massively Jamaican influenced. The whole original UK hardcore rave sound (90-92) had massive dub reggae influences - London is a melting pot and that's one of the reason's so much good music comes out of it. Jungle is/was a London sound and movement - the Jamaican influences and samples included. General Levy... born in London.
I take it you do this a lot? Being blocked is one of the badges of honour for middle aged keyboard warriors with nothing to say I guess. Funny how you don;t actually have anything to say about D&B though... but then I suppose that's what trolling's all about! You are teaching me some things at least :)
Check out: breakbeat DOTco DOTuk and dogsonacid DOTcom (if you don't know those sites already)... they're both pretty comprehensive and have some really good forums - the sorted of places people who've been listening to D&B since 1996 don't see being old as a reason to patronise and insult newer recruits to the D&B cause! And if you ever make it to London.... Raindance!! ;)
haha... I done another one (my hangover seems to be inspiring creativity)... Ilovelasvegas Nevada sits at home all day thinking "If only I'd been born in the UK" "I'd be in the heart of the scene" "living my drum and bass dream" "Not Tom Jones and Cirque du Soleil" boom boom
joker... Basic Influence, Capone, Cybotron, Digitech, Dillinja, D-Type, Original Master, Suburban Knights, The Specialist, Trinity. Straight off of Wiki, what's the point in this game?
Copy & paste... again? Do you want the answers, I'll fill you in without patronising you if you like... then we can play round 2. I've got a feeling this is going to be a tight one...
@NEONNEVADA Lol, a new school fool wouldn't know about DBridge, Ed Rush & Optical, Dillinja, Photek, Dom & Roland, Bad Company, etc. Trust me I'm not your average 'pop culture' listener. My taste consist of dark rollers ya know? Now ya know, don't you know that DBridge is rinsing exclusive dnb now a days off his Autonomic show off Rinse? Oh wait you wouldn't know since you said dnb is dying out again. It's slowly coming back as dubstep dies out.
UK Jump up is nowhere near the mainstream. Most is still distributed without a label. the top 5 or so artists have 'sold out' making poppy dnb for radio one but 99.9% is powerful dark and huge. And let's take liquid DnB. One of the best subgenres which is practically unheard of anywhere else than the UK.
just spotted this one. No, that's not happening. When you've lost an argument, having been called out on having no point... a random super-nerd D&B quiz does not get it back. You almost certainly have a bigger fanboy knowledge of D&B than me, I wouldn't argue that... but you've only been into it since '96 and from a-far, so you missed it all and now are just missing the point. Rave music is not about stats old boy, not unless it only exists in your bedroom and on the internet.
Champion? haha your character is revealing itself with every nonsensical post... champion of the youtube discussion board!! The stuff dreams are made of.
So, having read my last post... you took the olive branch I offered and have conceded defeat without having to say so - phew! An almost satisfying conclusion to this pointless rambling. Feel free to add your own conclusion about toys or whatever again, glad you saw the light in the end.
@innoc3ntcriminal the only thing the us likes is electro and skrillex, it annoys me how we dont get as much trance as europe and dubstep and drum and bass.
Fair enough, we've done this dance before and I guess this is the signal for surrender on your part. I'll pop back in a week or two to correct you when you're claiming Renegade Hardware is of the Americas (or some other nonsensical bullshit) until then, happy fact hunting fanboy! Oh and it was 1) Mike Slammer & DJ Red Alert... 2) The Astoria... 3) you could have had 'Unreal Project', 'OXXO' & 'Master'... although there are others, they're just from a part I played at there. Au revoir xx
You should probably pick one sarcastic reply and stick to it if you want to come across all cool and composed... 3 rapid fire nothing posts kind of gives away the fact that you wish you had something to say but don't.
Not really - that's two goes at that and again, announcing to yourself that you've 'won' doesn't make it so. In fact, looking over the page you seem to have wasted days of your life looking for people to tell that you've won. Worrying.
LOL.... oh Mr Vegas, how terribly disappointing. Well if you're too scared to talk to someone who's not (unfortunately) much younger than you and can call you out when you list a whole load of UK D&B under the banner of 'Fuck the UK' then we'll leave it there. I might pop back from time to time and just point out the huge holes in your knowledge, even if you're too scared to respond. Zachary, you should go to the UK if you get a chance.. it's the original and biggest scene (still in 2012)
