Cole's record is even more impressive when you think 56 of Shearer's goals were penalties, and only one of Cole's goals was a penalty.

It was unfair that he was tagged with that nonsense that he needed two chances to score. Even today, guys like Salah and Kane don't score every chance that they get. His shot per goal ratio was actually better than every other forward.

Not picked for France '98 despite being the joint top scorer the season before. Insane that he wasn't picked for Euro 2000 after just winning the treble. Kevin Phillips, Robbie Fowler and Emile Heskey before Andy Cole? I don't think so. 2002, Darius Vassell and bringing back Teddy at 36 ahead of Coley again?

Hoddle never liked Andy for some reason. He took Merson to World Cup 1998 ahead of him. Graeme Souness said that Cole was not left out of the 2002 World Cup for footballing reasons. Sven felt that Cole wasn't the best at socialising and that was why he was left at home. It was a rather ridiculous reason to leave someone out of a squad.

With all due respect. His partnership with Peter Pedro Beardsley is by far the better. Pedro is one of the best ever, every bit as good as Maradonna said he was.
