I'm so glad this interviewer was kind to Andy when discussing his drug issues. I love those Gibb brothers sense of humor. I loved David Brenner to. He always dressed so nice. That silly Jewish humor is phenomenal.
What a sex symbol he was! Sad his daughter never got to know her dad. The Gibb family were good people. His dad reminded me of my dad - just a down to earth, honest, humble person.
Still miss Andy Gibb......... Andy and Barry sound almost identical singing at times. Depression is a difficult disease to understand, even today. Can't imagine how difficult it was to diagnose, accept and treat back then. I think Andy had accepted about the only solution at that time; he got tired of sinking deeper into depression and decided to try and pick himself up and carry on. Unfortunately, drugs became his own self medication and by the time he managed to cope with and overcome his addiction, his heart condition took his life. So sad.
The right medication or combination of meds can significantly and positively affect one's psychological health and enhance the prognosis for a variety of mental disorders, substance abuse etc. Andy Gibb passed on at a time that was pre-fluoxetine (Prozac) and other SSRI'S, not to mention prescription meds from different classes that are effectively employed today to treat many patients worldwide with sometimes incapacitating conditions. Of course, this represents pure speculation on my part, however, I strongly suspect that this very talented and kind young man would still be with us today if the pharmaceutical advances, that millions of human beings presently benefit from, had been accessible in the 80's. Take care of yourself Jill Hall.
Andy was a very good subject. Kind, fun and fun. This video is the best of the many I've seen - I think. I, too, would have learned all about this gentleman from the show business (D. Brenner) x + n years ago! ❤👍👏
He was the baby pretty much in the family so that's why he didnt care about his child. Not making excuses but maybe he was child like still. Wrong for him to do that but true
sungirl99 yes, too bad. He greeted his sister, his granny and some of his nephews and nieces but couldn’t he send a word to his baby daugher who was also in Australia? Robin was also divorced and never missed an opportunity to greet his kids on TV.
@@saphirzafiro7777 His wife wanted their daughter to have as normal of a life as possible. She disliked her and her daughter receiving any attention from Andy's fame or the press. I think he just was obliging and left them out of it to respect their wishes. Plus, he did send a word to Peta in the interview he did with with Victoria Principal on the Phil Donahue show.
His parents said he did not kill himself. His heart had a problem. He said he was fine and not depressed right before he died. I believe he damaged his heart when he went through the break up.
Anybody have a idea on what 8 songs he was talking about? It being 1983 I know it wasn’t Man on fire or Arrow though the heart which I think were recorded in 87.
Why did this guy bring up Andy's brothers? You could see it made him unhappy. He sat there looking eyes downward, & seemed uncomfortable. He lacked confidence when he did not need to. I wish he had found a woman who was strong, not in the business, & who would have stood by him. Poor guy was bankrupt, living with Robin in England. The brothers said if he got clean & started working on songs, he could become the 4th Bee Gee & tour with them. Then he died. I doubt his ex wife got any money.
I understand your point of view, but as I heard from Barry late after his passing., Kim his ex wife was against fir him to have the rite to be with his daughter when growing up , that’s sad 😢...but I bet she received with no problems his $$ , & what $ he left after passing ...it’s so sad Andy was a soul that was in need of Love ( I think he was always under his brothers shadow , though they loved but I think he needed more from them meaning ( love & over see what kind life of destruction he lived thru his later year) though I think Andy also died of a broken heart ( he never got over the break up of Victoria Principal) so sad this woman 9 years he’s senior & played him like a fiddle instead of the other way around ., Poor Andy couldn’t win even in Love ( very talented, beautiful soul, young but very nice , beautiful voice ) & of course A beautiful man ...R.I.P. you gorgeous man , never forgotten❤️🙏🏼😢
@@barbarazuloaga1650 Andy said he would be there when Peta was born, but he never showed. His addiction ran his life. He had no money when he died, he was bankrupt due to his addiction. His brothers asked Kim what she wanted. The only thing she asked for was for Peta’s education be paid for, and when she turned 18 the rights to Andy’s music be transferred to Peta. Peta states she talked to him on the phone, but outside forces conspired to keep them apart. Unfortunately, his addiction ruined his life.
His accent is... ENGLISH. Not at all Aussie. He sounds like he's grown up around London... maybe, after having spent his childhood in Australia, he followed his brothers when they got back to Britain and settled in London?
