His family said he never grew up and was childlike, he seems so mature and held his own in such a polite manner when these 2 were belittling him. A classy man to say the least.
WeRstillNotFree Damit - I’m not making any excuses for his drug use. But, it was the seventies and cocaine was the drug of choice. I understand it’s addictive. When I was growing up at that time it was introduced to me because all my friends were doing it. I did try it, but I didn’t like it and never used the drug. I’m different, I don’t have an addictive personality. He rose to stardom pretty quickly and was a teen idol and didn’t live a normal life. I think the cocaine altered his personality. His brothers were already famous and he never thought he was good enough, maybe the cocaine made him feel invincible. I think it was his way to cope. Who knows really, but you can tell that Andy Gibb was a kind gentle soul that just lost his way.

WeRstillNotFree Damit - I hear what you’re saying, been in Philadelphia around drugs/alcoholism my whole life. I hold my own. Being around people who suffer from addiction is a hard pill to swallow (pun intended) Some make it, some don’t. It has no bias, drugs will take down the strong, the weak, old, young, the rich and the poor. I always wondered about Andy Gibb, he was my celebrity crush growing up and thought it was so tragic he succumbed to addiction. He had everything going for him -looks, talent, money and he threw it all away. We never know what demons others are facing in life. Just take care of yourself and be kind to others. We all struggle in life and we should celebrate and be happy -we got to be here on this planet for a microsecond in time. Sending some good energy & vibes from the east coast to your doorstep.
Yes, it did appear that the interviewers were needling him a bit. I detected some jealousy, from them, of his success. But Andy was so classy, even though I could see he was feeling a little defensive. You could see it in his face. Always so sweet and kind. Miss him!

He was really talented in many areas. It seems like he could do everything he wanted, like Barry said. Maybe that's why everything happened and ended so fast for him. A great loss.

Why couldn't the interview be just about Andy? Don't get me wrong, I love his brothers! but in every interview they would always throw in questions about the Bee Gees.
Andy was young, very impressionable and infatuated with Victoria Principle. She took advantage of his sex appeal to a younger generation, his famous brothers and enormous popularity! I'm convinced he never fully recovered from their breakup which led to his further decline into drugs and alcohol. What is obvious in every interview since their split is that Andy lost that sparkle in his eyes, his sheepish grin and love for life! What a kind, sweet and loving man!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
He said himself that his ego was out of control. That he had to come back down to earth. Very misguided with no direction provided by his parents when he was a teen. 3 brothers that knew all the pitfalls of the music industry. They failed him. Tragic.
Brooke Hanley It sure was!!!! I mean, he once spilled the beans for the public. I hate that people still believe what the media wanted out there. The real reason that they broke up was due to VP not only having Andy spend only ALL of his money, while she saved hers...She insisted on getting plastic surgery for her crows feet, which Andy didn’t feel she needed, but gave in and not only paid for the surgery, but then VP started having an affair with that same doctor and went on to later marry that same doctor! Who wouldn’t have a nervous breakdown!!!! Sick of the lies, being that she left due to his drug use...such a lie!!! His ex-wife also badmouthed Andy, when she was the one who left Andy, demanding that he stop his career, not due to drugs! She also blamed Andy for not seeing Peta, but Kim wouldn’t allow Andy to visit!!! Finally, the truth!!!!
@@phughesphoto Poor Andy. I became a single mum in Australia in the late '70s. Husbands were required to pay maintenance and were given visiting rights. My ex was a mongrel. He paid me nothing but I didn't stop him seeing the children. I possibly could have but that's just a bitchy thing to do. I'm sure Andy would have paid whatever amount was set so they had no right to stop him seeing his daughter. Women like that make me so angry, there's no need for it and in the end the kids are the ones who suffer.
@@phughesphoto I love what his mum said. She didn't mince words either. If she disagreed with any of her children she made it known. Her saying that is Gospel. Andy truly was a kind soul. I see it when he talks to people, always making sure everyone is comfortable and never making anything just about himself. I hope Peta knows the truth about her mother.

But if you're looking for an analytically sharp look at the Bee Gees' contributions to music history, & the intricate parts of their lives, that biography has yet to be written. The story has yet to be told. Stay tuned. I was there.
Actually, Andy's big hits came out in 1978 and were written by his brothers and produced, and had a very strong disco influence. Like his brother Barry, Andy also could and did sing falsetto. There was nothing informed about what this interviewer said.
I am a fan of Andy's from the beginning. That said, the blaming of VP has to stop. Andy lost everything in his life due to his refusal to give up drugs. He lost his wife, daughter, record contract, shows, VP, family's respect, and then ultimately his health and life due to drugs. You listen to his mom talk about how he would refuse to go on unless someone went out and got him drugs. It was sad but the truth. He was not perfect and VP was not the demon everyone makes her out to be. Andy did some interviews where he said some bitter things about VP but they weren't true. His brother Barry said as much in the biography on Andy. VP never said one unkind thing or responded back because she knew Andy was ill. I only ever seen her tell one story about Andy and the marshmallow snowmen but that was while they were dating before getting the family's ok to talk about him in the biography.
@@yellowyellow8513 Andy started drinking at 11 and was using cocaine by 13. He lost his marriage, relationship with his daughter, his family's respect, VP, and then his career because of drugs.
@@ladylyrichere9373 he did not use cocaine until he arrived in the USA. he started cocaine at 19 or 20. he may have had drinks prior to that but his alcoholism started then as well. please do more research before you spout all sorts of things about him all over the comments.
