I have to agree with what Mrs. Andy Gibb said. I have watched numerous videos of Andy and in one he said he had a breakdown. That Victoria moved on but he had no one. They couldn't spend more than five minutes apart and that they had no friends. There is more that he said but he fell apart. He even said if he saw a street sign with Victoria in it he could not handle that. So so sad. They made a nice couple but I truly think she was not in love with him as much as he was with her. One interview she does she says she is not sure about marriage, but she then went on to marry the doctor. Andy you will always be in my heart. I got to see your brothers perform at the Valley Forge Music fair and I will never forget it! RIP dear one. I hope to have the chance to visit your burial site one day.

@MrsSuperman93 I totally agree with you that she is not to blame for his death or how he felt towards her, I just feel that VP as an older woman could have handled things differently. Of course, she was the only one in this relationship with him (lucky woman!!) so who knows what she could or could not have done to have a different outcome. I just truly believe that she strung him along for her own advancement and I wish he were still here.....he was truly talented and sweet! , Thanks!
Agree and I'm NOT saying he was immature, but he never loved anyone. Yes he dated other woman but Victoria was his puppy love , real first crush and that relationship was part of his demise and the drugs😢

In 1975 or 76 he married his girlfriend in Australia right before moving to L.A. When they got there he got deep into the drug scene which was too bad because (I think, according to his band mates) up until then he had been clean in Australia when he was in his first band there that came with him from his his family's home on the Isle of Mann in England. Dunno about his second band in aussie. In less than a year of marriage and being in LA, Kim, his wife, was pregnant with their child Peta. She told him he had to quit drugs or she'd leave. He wouldn't or couldn't quit and she left. She had their baby in Australia. He said he'd go there for the birth but didn't. The First and last time he ever saw his kid was when Kim brought her over to America at 2 or 3. Peta remembers him giving her a chilled sip of coca cola. That's all she remembers. She heard him over the phone occasionally over the years and watched him once on Solid Gold when her mom told her who the performer was but that was it. She was 10 when he died and had only seen him once in person. Marie Osmond dated him briefly too in the 70's. Ended things also cuz the drugs. His ex wife Kim said when she got the call that he had died, she wasn't surprised because she had always been expecting it. Also, his drug problem was so bad by 1981-82 - before he met VP in 1982, that he got fired from hosting Solid Gold, from Pirates of Penzance, and from his record label for his drug related absences. This was also all around 1982 either during or right after VP. VP and his relationship lasted only 13 months and they met in 1982. They lived together but only 1 day a week much of the time because they flew to each other's place the one day a week they each had off - she was working on Dallas in Texas and he was in Los Angeles first working on Solid Gold then Penzance. After VP left was Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat on Broadway. He was to do six months. Got fired after six weeks because he was absent 12 times during that period. And too bad cuz they liked him and the reviews were great. David Cassidy replaced him. The guy needed some serious help. He also was in major denial. Every time he got clean briefly, he kept saying how it was all behind him. Don't know if that was just what he said to the media or if he really believed it. His last words were to his mom about his heart condition (ravaged by years of drug abuse) and he actually asked her "you can't die from this can you?". Showing a possibly high level of possible ignorance, denial, and or disbelief.
Usually I would like Victoria because she's almost exactly my type of woman, but I gotta say Olivia Newton-John for the win, I think she's a better person in general, and to be honest, suits Andy better! Well, nevertheless, Andy really was a really nice dude just like his brothers, and it's really sad that he was gone so soon!

Not really, Victoria probably extended his life. He would have died sooner from cocaine if it wasn’t for her. But there is only so much she can do. He thought that his love for Victoria would fixed his cocaine habit but he was wrong.
According to his family, he and VP had been broken up for four years when he died, so he didn't die of a broken heart over her like I had always heard. He did go through a terrible time of it, though.

@@Pamsmith59 , He wouldn't give up cocaine after she told him she couldn't continue to see him if he kept using it. He also drank a lot while doing the drug. People blame her, but he didn't kick the drug until years after their breakup.
Did you see how she cut John Davidson off when he was about to ask something, like maybe "would you consider going out?" He said "Would you...." and VP made a face and raised her arm to cut him off. I thought that was so weird, like she had it totally planned out.
I was reading comments to see if anyone else caught that because I sure did! She set that up! She was bored and he was the hottest thing going at that time. I think it all was a big set up. Andy couldnt act at all. When he came on after the song , he was acting weird. I mean he made fun of Ringo , and he was no better than Ringo. I love Andy , dont get me wrong but this whole deal was straight up , creepy. Oh and Davidson trying to help Andy sing his hit song was pathetic, that was another video. The man cant sing at all! But she gave ole davidson the evil eye. He was suppose to tour and ended up canceling the whole tour, that was HIS MAJOR MISTAKE. Now if u do a greatest hits album , you are " Washed Up" lol. I guess back then it was cool. Lol. But for sure he was in love with her.
That was extremely interesting. I'd love to believe she wanted it to happen organically and not have John blurt it out on the show. She wanted Andy to ask and not have it prompted by John. Obviously, they discussed that she'd come on and she had the hots for him, too. Seems like she gave a subtle "I'll let him ask, not you" reminder.

Silvia Soldevila hay amores enfermizos y destructivos que en realidad no es amor. Andy era muy joven y puro para una mujer del calibre de Victoria. Por supuesto fue un grave error de Andy. En ese tiempo no había tantas ayudas como hay ahora. Quizá si eso hubiera sucedido ahora Andy todavía viviera.

I do think it was cute he was genuinely surprised when she walked out, I do remember back then that it seemed he loved her very much but those drugs got in the way she ended the relationship he was devastated but as much as he tried he couldn't shake it, and I do remember he started dating Kari Michaelsen a actress he met on a sitcom GIMME A BREAK and his mother called her when Andy was in the hospital in England but he passed away very quickly. At one point he asked his doctor can I die from this, so sad he couldn't get off the drugs and booze he definitely was the cutest GIBB, I just think that in interviews they continued to talk about Victoria Principal but they had separated probably 5 years before he passed maybe longer than that.

As far as I could remember, Andy was my first crush and my only crush before I got married. I wasn't jealous of the two. He was Victoria's boyfriend before and I was so happy for them. Just shocked when they parted ways and more shocked when he died yrs after.

i am married to my husband wo is 9 years younger. i am not a cougar. we have been married for 23 years and i am 65 years old. he is so good to me and i am so blessed.
🙄 Oh, please! He was no innocent ingenue. By the time he met Victoria, he's already been married, divorced, fathered a baby girl, had a successful music career with a heavy drug addiction on the side. That's why she left. Couldn't compete with the addiction.

I think Andy loved Victoria even before he met her, and he was blown away by her surprising appearance. Without this show, maybe they would never meet? I guess they had a date shortly after this show, and then they were a couple. True?
That's really sad. I don't know why, but it gives me the impression that he fell in love with the TV character, probably. He was dazzled, caught, and she could manipulate him as she pleased. For a while he lived an illusion, when he could have had someone who was the right match for him despite what he had been facing. The two made a beautiful couple, but they had nothing to do with each other in the romantic sense. He clearly didn't take this attraction lightly and that let him down with the emptiness of abandonment.
I agree! Ms. Principal was Andy's downfall. A woman can help you soar or bring you down to the depths. He was very sensitive...she was hard without much compassion. She took his sensitivity and used it to be more powerful...he tried to make her happy...when he couldn't he dove deeper into drugs. If she would have had more character she would have never got involved with him...but she was too selfish & vain. He was her toy...she was his love.

I get that tough love is needed when dealing with drug addiction of those close to a person but he was 8 years younger than her and in maturity as well ( he was 22 she was 30 ) . Anyone can see that he was a gentle soul and a shy vulnerable person one can see that very clearly . There are people that take advantage of people like that to suit their own agenda’s . From what I understand Victoria Principal loved Andy Gibb but his substance abuse drove a wedge between them and finally she gave him an ultimatum to the effect of "You can have me or have drugs, but not both." He couldn't give up the drugs so Victoria broke up with him. Reportedly he was heartbroken but she certainly had a valid reason for what she did. The fact that she wanted to go to his funeral shows that she still cared about him even after his death. I realize that the Gibb brothers were mourning but still it was mean-spirited of them to not allow a woman whom Andy loved to come to his funeral.
Andy was starstruck. As big a star as he was, he was still starstruck. It may have been better if he had never met her in person but she is not to blame for his death in the end.
You said what I wanted to say. He was just 23 & she was 31, an experienced star of a hit Soap. You could see him blush while she's totally in control & egging him on. Gibbs brothers being so talented & popular, Andy remained humble & even shy. This was his karma. He left us too soon. the memory of his talent lives.
She was was the one who introduced him to cocaine and then dumped him after starting a relationship with her dealer who was a plastic surgeon who she married and Andy was devastated and became hopelessly addicted to cocaine and eventually died. He never should have met this woman.
