It seems to me that this show, like most panel shows, needs *at least one* panelist who's a good enough improv comedian to carry the others; Wayne is clearly that person. (Though I should say that Kevin Smith, rarely my favorite guy, was doing great here too.) Preferably two, which is how Wait Wait has always done it. Mock usually only had one out of six who was a newbie. Shame we didn't get introductions at all in this playlist, though.

Also: we seem to be doing better with the First Rule Of Panel Guesting: your answer must be *right* or *hilarious*. And I was the person (well, one of them) taking Whose Line in vein, and I didn't really want them to steal the format per se... just to get a little closer to it on specific points (mostly, the part where they really don't matter. But if you have podia, you gotta have points, I guess.)

@@baylinkdashyt The trouble is that Wayne or someone just as good deserves and would want a lot more money than anyone on the previous episodes. Whether or not CBS is willing to pay for such people is a good question. I'd given up on the series and Wayne appearing on this episode is the only reason I watched. And I only noticed him because I subscribe to this youtube channel anyway and a segment with him in the thumbnail showed up in my youtube recommendations. I don't find Riki Lindhome funny enough to bother. But I'm retired and my sense of humor is different from that of younger people. But Taylor's stand-up is BRILLIANT and I wish her the best of luck. At the very least she'll reach more people this show.

I looked it up and there are actually 5 Air Bud movies (Air Bud for Basketball, Golden Receiver for Football, World Pup for Soccer, Seventh Inning Fetch for Baseball, and Spikes Back for Volleyball), plus 7 Air Buddies movies and 2 Santa Paws movies. I have never seen any of them.

I love Maria Bamford and I think it's really awesome that she is still a working comic. I remember seeing her on a comedy central special like maybe 25 years ago, she did a great routine and she's still funny but she's evolved into like a funny mom character, or maybe a young grandma who tells it how it is. I like that she plays up being confused and amazed all the time.

You realize that one of the better panel shows going is based upon corny limmericks, Madlibs, and lying to people who call in to the show in order to win the grand-prize of having the announcer record your voicemail intro for you, right? Also I'm pretty sure some of the most watched panel-show segments of all time are games of "Carrot-in-a-box". Just saying.

@@nghtwtchrkc971 what an absolute dumb take. The show is literally centered around the comedians. They're not typical late night guests, where they discuss upcoming projects. They exist to fulfill the plot because they are the plot. Comedy is like food and music. There is a style and palette for everyone. You won't like it, but others are having fun. & when others are having fun and laughing and you're not just not, but also enjoying being a stick in the mud at the expense of everyone else's joy, you then have to look into the philosophical element even more so and realize...that you're just a miserable bitch. Hope this helps.

Outside of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me (which you didn't recognize) and I guess "Whose Line is it Anyways" (though that's a BBC import) MOST panel shows are pretty exclusively aired outside of the united states. If you were to go to something like /r/PanelShows or just search youtube for them I believe you'd find that the most popular ones still airing (which given the timeslot and push towards streaming are probably the shows this is actually COMPETING with rather than whatever the FoodNetwork is playing in that timeslot or whatever) they're pretty much all BBC productions: Taskmaster, QI, Would I Lie to You, 8 out of 10 Cats (Carrot-in-a-box), etc... There's NPR and Dropout (formerly CollegeHumor) and now this too I guess though those are by audience FAR smaller.

Comedians do NOT watch sports, people. The only one I could possibly get was Tom Brady and I never watched him play football. Also, he looks like a ventriloquist dummy now. Dumb doesn’t age well.
