Andy's Thoughts: Chellsie's Adult Gymanstics Journey 

I really hope people don't forget, she is a WORLD ALL-AROUND CHAMPION. She was literally the best in the world at one point. A true freak athlete.

Chellsie is such a legend and I’m glad to hear her dad’s perspective!!!

Whether she ever competes again or not, it’s a treat to see Chelsies return to gymnastics.

Why am I crying?😭 I just want Chellsie to have the fairy tale ending she deserves now that the Karolyis are gone. I am so invested now. Rooting for your comeback!!!!

At this point if she doesnt make the 2021 team imma be real mad. Im too INVESTED NOW.

I believe the strong technique Chellsie demonstrated during her first trip through elite level gymnastics, is a HUGE part of why this journey has come so far so fast, and easier than anyone estimated. Much of that is on YOU, Papa Memmel! 🙂

Watching Chellsie in this comeback journey has just made me so happy. I'm 35, so I'm a fan from back in the day. I truly hope she gets everything out of this she wants, and shows girls/women that you can still do what you love as an adult. There is no age limit on gymnastics, and female gymnasts shouldn't be made to feel that their prime is in their teens and everything after that is meaningless. Also, I still live for the vault that shut Tim Daggett up. One of the best moments in gymnastics I've seen. Lol

Chellsie is a prodigy at this sport. Love it. She’s a visual learner like I am. I have to see it and then do it. She’s an inspiration to many! Rock it!

Perhaps postponing the Olympics a year will give Chellsie the opportunity to either make the team or end her career on the high note that it so clearly deserves. Instead of having an old hag like Marta end it for her like in 2012, despite Chellsie having amazing accomplishments for USA.

This is your year Chellsie! Listen to the universe. You know what to do!

Thank you for sharing your Dad's insight with us. I agree with him 100%: every time I watch your most recent week of training, I am blown away by how effortless you make everything look. And I was excited to hear that you have an idea for a new uneven bars routine, even after sharing your hesitation just a few weeks ago. You are such an amazingly gifted athlete and I would LOVE to see you back on bars, but I understand that these things take time. I think that many would agree that what you've accomplished thus far is beyond extraordinary and that you're an ICON, giving hope and inspiration to anyone who has ever told themselves, "It's too late". Keep up the amazing work!

Over the past week or so when I bumped into your channel, I have found myself watching all your past videos and amazed by how talented you HAVE ALWAYS BEEN. Your worth ethic is absolutely mesmerising. I’m not even joking, but this come back ( in whatever capacity) has been one of the best things to happen this year thus far. Obviously Chellsie is prodigiously talented but watching her is teaching me so much about grit. She's got passion and perseverance toward long term goals. I would love nothing more than to see you crush another elite competition... if not 2021 Tokyo, maybe 2021 Worlds?? :)

You can really see the love and pride he has both as a dad and a coach.

Even if she doesn’t make it to Tokyo, she could still compete in classics, championships, various international assignments & still be a rockstar. Maybe even a worlds 😏 It would be amazing to watch her go out there & compete for HERSELF. Imagine how excited her kids would be watching her! ❤️ Can’t wait to see where this journey takes you.

I really like the videos you upload. It shows the significant amount of thinking, emotion and hard work that goes into the creation of the routine. It also allows us to progressively accompany you on your comeback journey. But most importantly, I think gives young girls a great role model to look up to!

Honestly don't care about Chellsie making the Olympic team next year-- I'd LOVE to see it but the USA is so deep that it is literally a tossup... All I want is to get to see her compete again, even if it is only at Classics/Championships. (OR the 2021 worlds team which presumably not that many people will be eyeing 👀)

I am turning 30 in a few weeks.. used to be a gymnast. Here I am with low back and knee pain and then we have this queen doing double/doubles

She REALLY is incredible. As her dad said, everything is SO easy looking!. Her body and spatial awareness are unbelievable. I hope she keeps going and does try for the 2021 Olympic team! How cool would that be!!!!

It’s so weird to spot your landing to me too...I had a coach tell me to spot my landing in cheer and I was shocked he wanted me to open my eyes.

I have been waiting so long for this video! Love hearing his perspective. I can't imagine how hard it is to walk the dad/coach line but he seems to do it just fine! When you were still competing, did those lines every get blurred?

LOve this! I was wondering if your dad had been a gymnast (can someone coach without ever doing it?) and now got to hear from his own mouth. Also an interesting insight into how you process learning skills. I hope your kids get to see you compete too, but having them watch you in the gym right now has to be amazing for them.

Great perspective! Funny how he’s had to teach you skills when you learn visually as opposed to the way he and other students have learned. I guess that’s why you’re a champion though!

Sometimes pain can present as muscular and actually be an entrapped nerve which can often be quite treatable. How can she do a bellyflop on a trampoline. Ouch! I have a serious back injury from a car 🚗 crash, so anything that jars the back makes me cringe 😬.
