What blistering set of pure 70s rock n roll. I dont think a lot of people were aware of that side of the band. That version of Burn on the Flame gets my spirits up like no other tune.

Mick Tucker was definitely one of the most complete drummers that has ever entered the rock scene. It was a pleasure to both watch and hear him play. He had an enormously steady groove and an absolutely terrific technique. He is sadly missed.

I was so flabbergasted by Mick not getting coverage in Modern Drummer, I was compelled to approach them about writing a story. Luckily, the editorial director is a Sweet fan and gave me the go ahead! Appeared in the October 2012 issue.

As a life long drummer...started at 3...I loved micks style and what great fills and beats he had. I actually learned to twirl drum sticks by watching him. And now after 30 plus years on the road...his playing still holds up today. To say he is underrated does not show the injustice he gets by being snubbed by so many people. I think it is the glam part that keeps most people away. But those guys all could rock. And don't just listen to the hits...listen to the whole albums!

I've listened to the whole albums and I agree. If I could play 🥁 THAT'S HOW I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY. The guitars 🎸and drums 🥁 were EQUAL. The drum intros caught your attention immediately...Wow.

Glad I met Mick , along with Andy, which I mentioned in a comment for another Sweet video. I had told Mick that he was an influence on my own musicianship. He then told me I was the 1st person who had ever told him that. Almost impossible to believe, considering Sweet's success of selling millions of records around the world. But, you never know . I knew that he'd been sick with leukemia before he passed away. Mick's talents are missed 💔. R.I.P.

They influenced so many other musicians that they should be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is all about influence then why in the world has this band not been nominated? Millions of records sold and top of their game and just be loved by so many. They were just about the first to introduce Glam Rock so that's a big deal for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Who knows maybe someday.

Mick was indeed reserved althought he was intrested in what you had to say. I remember a gig in Germany when had a chat with Andy about the release of Sweet's Ballroom Blitz. I asked Andy why the Clip wasn't on the tape. The simple answer I got was, because there is no good quality avaible. Then I said I have the 36mm Film which was shot for the promo clip. Regarding to Mick it wasn't possible, so Andy said what do you have to loose. Among with other clips I let them transfered to a U-matic tape. That's the reason the, at least I think we see now the good quality video's on RU-vid.

Mick’s always been in my top drummers list. I used to watch him on Top of the Pops in the early 70’s as a 9/10 year old and I’d be trying to twirl my mum’s wooden spoons. He was amazing to watch and had such wonderful chops. His sound on Cockroach from Give Us A Wink was thunderous. What a player he was. RIP Mick, Brian and Stevie.

Thanks for this interview! I found it interesting that Andy mentioned Mick's drumming in "Ballroom Blitz" because I'd always thought that in any band that did a cover version, the drummer couldn't mimic Mick's chops. I'm inclined to say that the song's opening is iconic. Thanks for another reminder of why the band Sweet's name is synomous with legend.

Has anyone ever noticed when Mick did his stick twirls it was a reverse twirl compared to how most other drummers did their twirl.. I can't be the only one who noticed this can I? Mick Tucker was a great drummer The Man with the Golden Arm. Keep these coming thick and fast. More Sweet is good. One point look at, the notes on the back of the "Sweet FA" album, the engineer is a certain Hugh Charles Padgham. He went on to produce The Police, Genesis and many more. Maybe that's why "Sweet FA" is so F***in awesome, or did Mick teach Padgham a bit as well As it happens I'm a Hugh Charles as well.

I after the summer of 1970, I called Eric Carmen, and asked if there was any chance for me make any extra cash with other bands that received lyrics from me. I was 10 at this time,. He called me back and told me to travel to a concert in Alabama or maybe Louisiana. It took around 10 hrs of driving to get there. Knock on rear door, like I was told, an old lady answered and took me to dressing room. Put me in makeup and pushed me out on the stage. That's how I meet Sweet

When i was into Sweet back in the 70s , i had no clue about how good Mick was on the drums - With age as my music knowledge grew, i got more and more aware of what a genius he was and what an integral part his drumming was into the entire formula of the Sweet sound. I also believe the band was quite lucky to have Wainman in the beginning who was a drummer himself and knew how to amplify and generate that particular drum sound behind the mixing console which became a signature feature and also got adapted post his production period. As much as everyone loves Brian, but Sweet would never have taken off like they did without Mick Tucker.
