To everyone saying Andy is ungrateful and she hasn't earned it, you are only pushing her point further. Given everything in the show that she has faced, Andy has earned her lieutenant position and the opportunity to become a captain. We've seen her perform well in the role and make changes to houses with the issues she is facing. Of course she would want to go back to 19 where she doesn't have to challenge the system. Her greatest support system has always been 19. So now, not being allowed to be doing the one thing that she can do to cope that helps her, it is the one thing in the chief's power to help her with. Tash hasn't put out a statement in support of Andy and is only talking at her about how the system is broken and it's best to just go with it, which seems no more helpful than what a male chief could have done, short of firing her.

Andy's statement about women of color being told they should be grateful for even the smallest things resonates as powerful dialogue. It highlights the systemic challenges and expectations that women of color often face, shedding light on the need for recognition and respect beyond token gestures. This type of dialogue in storytelling contributes to important conversations about representation, equality, and the diverse experiences of women in the workplace. #savestation19

She talks like an idiot. Her sense of entitlement is astounding. She didn't earn anything she was handed it. She never proved her worth or ability. She destroyed the towers on which she even stands. She should be thankful for her position, given her record she's lucky she isn't fired.

I'm with Andy with all she said and I applaud her for saying that. And that being said, does she *really* think she can go back to work while facing a trial? And on manslaughter! Both mentally and legally, it's not possible. She's been through a trauma, yes, it's not a dirty word! She was never ready to take days off, never. When Ryan died in front of her eyes she just dived back to work. This is not a good coping technique, it's not. She has to process what she's been through and she can't get back to work until she will be exonerated. No way that civilians will let her and the team help them in crisis while one of the team is facing charges, no way, even when it wasn't her fault and it was self defence. She needs to take the time, go to therapy(again, not a dirty word!) And focus on winning the case so she could get back to work and fix this horrible system.

Did you not just make the same argument against Andy everyone else has though? Just gonna throw this out there but there’s nothing legally stopping her from doing her job. That’s pure administrative. Cops continue “policing” while facing charges (for shit they did ON the job) all the time, or at the very least are allowed to “ride a desk” and just be assigned paperwork. Literally happens all the time. And who’s to say being with the people you love doing what you love isn’t therapeutic? Everyone’s method of handling trauma is different isn’t a one size fits all problem. AND forcing victims to relive and rehash their trauma before they are ready to; recipe for disaster and will 100% cause more trauma.
@noashom
@noashom 2 года назад
@@remylewis8721 Just because things happen in a certain way doesn't mean it's the right way. Andy has no method of dealing with trauma, she just represses again and again when obviously it's not the best thing for her. Plus, you really should read about different kinds of therapy, because no one is forcing her to "relive and rehash her trauma", there are a lot of different ways to be and do therapy, she can choose whatever one that will help her.
@remylewis8721
@remylewis8721 2 года назад
@@noashom and yet here you are demanding she deal with it right now and denying her right to process trauma on her terms in her own way and by extension her support network. Repression can be an incredibly important psychological protective tool especially if the subject isn’t emotionally prepared to deal with that trauma or is in a safe place in life to do so - a direct quote from my own trauma therapist. That doesn’t mean you don’t deal with it, that means you deal with it when someone isn’t forcing it down your throat (which can be traumatizing as well FYI, having been forced into therapy against my will; I have a deep distrust of therapists similar to Andy) and you’re actually emotionally prepared to work through it.

I feel for Andy and all that she's gone through. and she is correct because when it comes to women of color they always have to work 3 times as hard to get anywhere. But if you ask me her character has never really earned anything. Think about it, when she first became lieutenant she didn't go through the process everyone else goes through, she asked her dad (the captain) to promote her and he just did it. Nobody else could do that. Plus the only reason she did so was because she wanted to jump the line to become captain when she heard that Jack was going to become captain. Then when it was time to choose a captain she wasn't selected because she was not ready. How did she handle not getting it, she threw a fit and complained about getting robbed when she didn't even have enough lieutenant experience. Also the reason she keeps getting passed up is because she lets her personal life interfere with her work. That's why Maya was promoted over her. I get that she wants to become Captain because she knows she'll be good at it. But it's not something she can just get because she feels like she deserves it. That's called being entitled. She has held that kind of attitude for the past few seasons. Then to say that everybody else is the problem but not her proves she's in the wrong. She just doesn't know how to take responsibility for anything she does. She is honestly the least likeable character on the show

That’s one way to see it all and I’m not saying you’re wrong but when her dad did promote her everyone around her was saying it should’ve happened sooner and he only waited so long because she was his daughter. Then at the end of season 1 most of the team saw and recognised her as the best choice for captain and she only didn’t get it because she went against the chief’s orders to save people’s lives in the skyscraper (also when maya got demoted for defying an order to save a life everyone went insane but that’s pretty much exactly what happened to Andy because she was about to be named captain). Then later down the line she was told she’d get the promotion and then didn’t because other people decided she’d be too emotional and didn’t even have a conversation with her about it? So can you not see why she’d be so frustrated. Not to mention she was acting captain at 23 for months so did all the hard work just didn’t properly get the title and now she feels like she’s gonna be sent backwards again

I hate she keeps referencing Sully. 1st of all his life wasn't a mess, he was on top and got into an accident and was hurt on the job, and as his wife she should have been there for him but was too busy being selfish as usual for her character. I have no clue why some of you rally around her because she continues to throw tantrums when life doesn't go the way she wants it. I can't stand her character on this show
@ingieismail5935
@ingieismail5935 2 года назад
they weren't married when he conspired with her dad to give away her promotion which is what she's referring to, and yes technically his life was a mess he had a chronic pain problem and the beginning of a substance abuse he on some level knew wouldn't stay hidden for long and would eventually impact his career
@keithjohnson1109
@keithjohnson1109 2 года назад
@@ingieismail5935 she wasn't ready for the position then, and she still isn't. The problem wasn't her dad or Sully, it was her, and still is, she is her own problem. Having a chronic pain and becoming addicted to pain killers doesn't mean your life is a mess, it means you need help and the Dept should have provided that help. Andy's life is always a mess, she goes from train wreck to train wreck, and mostly self inflicted
@ingieismail5935
@ingieismail5935 2 года назад
@@keithjohnson1109 everybody around her thought she was and she was about to be named the next captain until Pruitt the sexist leveraged Ryan's death by exploiting some weird paternalistic instinct in Sullivan (if you love her don't give it to her now). Addiction is a disease yes but it can certainly make your life 'messy' in the colloquial sense when you're actively using which Sullivan was. Absent all of that the lying of it all is certainly messy; he was getting high at work, ODing in his office, extorting a trainee into not reporting him, and last but definitely not least committing felonies to feed his addiction. How was the department supposed to help while he was lying and only coming clean after having broken the law and induced someone to cover it up for him (Warren, who in my opinion should've been disciplined too but I guess him losing the PRT was the show's version of giving him consequences. By your own logic, if Sullivan can have all of that going on and deserve to be in command because his life isn't messy why can't Andy have a few interpersonal issues and be captain? Why is she still not ready for a captaincy when she has been in fact captain and doing a good job according to other unbiased sources like 23's captain? Maya even wanted her to be interim captain while she was being investigated so she clearly thought she was ready
@amariiaa
@amariiaa 2 года назад
yo, the whole character (andy) is weird to me, she constantly finds reasons to make herself be right i wont say victim because she is a victim but only in this SA situation other than that it's always self inflicted issues. Fans want her and sully to get together yet, she ignored him for 10 months. Yet he gave her nothing but comfort when this SA thing happened. She's blaming her dad, like he didn't know what was good for her because people can say whatever they want about them being "fine and okay" that doesn't mean they can actually handle the job. When Sullivan has a lot of experience, he knows who's right for the job and who isn't For her to say Sullivan's life was a mess when she as a wife didn't even try to be there for him is crazy. Then she's gonna blame Chief Ross ..how could she even say that to her BOSS?? And expect to still have her job..when she says she doesn't need help when she was just asking for it. But people want her to be happy and she deserves the world their crazy and this mom storyline is bs nobody cares lol. If shes not getting with Jack nobody cares about their friendship lol, her character does circles around these men characters. Now they tryna give her ..her own storyline and it's not working. lol.
@keithjohnson1109
@keithjohnson1109 2 года назад
@@ingieismail5935 so because close personal friends think you are ready for a job then you're ready???? So by your opinion does Becketts behavior qualify him for still being a Captain??? Before the "on the job" accident that lead to his chronic pain, his life wasn't a mess, Sully overcame his addiction, but Andy isn't overcoming anything, she's just blaming everyone else for her problems. I hope my best friends get promoted all the time, but if they are not ready they are not ready.
