I believe Slowhand is like a fine wine. He had the energy and the excitement of his youth with the Bluesbreakers and Cream but his songwriting and singing has taken a new meaning after all his life experiences. I agree those two bands were his best period but he is one of the most influential musicians of the 20th and 21st centuries. I adore Slowhand; you have to 🎸🥰

Yep, Sting, regardless of his musical pedigree now, would have remained a high school teacher if he never hooked up with those other two. His solo records are mundane compared to the raw material the Police produced. I recall he did redid a Police track, the way he had ''originally wanted to record it.. and the nicest thing I can say about it was that it is vomit inducing.

Funny thing is, if andy would’ve bought that second les paul maybe eric would have used something different to record the bluesbreakers album, and those 59 les pauls would not be so valuable today as they are. Clapton gave those particular year and model guitars the meaning and the mystique they have currently just with that record.

Although 200 pounds was about 4800-5000 pounds of today, back then neither Clapton not Andy were world known, acclaimed, multimillionaire musicians, just struggling, hardworking musicians (although Clapton was a minor sensation in the area) and those kind of instruments were kinda hard to find but not extremely overpriced, overvalued and overhyped like they are today so it's only fair to adjust their price to inflation to give us an idea of how much they costed.

@@marcpaola1371 - The Beatles are the #1 selling group.... of ALL.... TIME. So no, no one has matched or surpassed their popularity. Not then, and they damn sure didn't retain popularity through the decades like the Beatles. Beatlemania is STILL a thing. Perhaps you are getting confused because Michael Jackson had the single highest selling ALBUM of all time (thriller) but overall the Beatles have sold hundreds of millions more albums than Jackson. And no, the Police, who I was a fan of in the 80s ever since my camp counselor Dallas turned me onto them in 80 when I was 11 during summer camp, were nowhere near Beatles status. Super popular, yes. But the Beatles were on another level and it's measurable beyond opinion. This, in spite of the fact that there was less people around in the Beatles prime (less potential customers) and a less sophisticated radio / tv network to promote the bands.
