Pick Up Your Feelings is the only performance here that made it on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs. Rami ate that and secured her spot as the main vocalist of the group

To be fair to Chiquita she actually lost her voice as she was suffering from covid. She only just managed to recover some degree of vocal control on this final evaluation to debut as an idol. This is perhaps only 50% of her vocal control. Watch Stuck in the middle. Chiquita had a great number of verses that showcase her vocal ability in Stuck in the middle. There is also live covers on YG channel when YG first introduced Baby Monster.

so what? If you not that good, dont debut. I dont have problem with her debut, bcs she has that basic skill for idol. But not so fantastic. Just normal. So accept the critic.
@getgreatstuff88getgreatstu8
@getgreatstuff88getgreatstu8 2 месяца назад
@@nnznj the critic has not seen that she is sick and has not seen the final evaluations. Chiquita is a top tier vocalist as any Baemon fan will know.. And clearly you are just a typical hater talking nonsense. She is a superstar already. No need for your nonsense.

Thanks for the reaction, these girls are all so talented, its not even funny. This was their evaluations/training/survival show, fun way to introduce them. They are now putting out music and they are incredible, song/mvs are awesome, but somehow they are also amazing live. Great vocals, raps, dancing, visuals. Keep reacting to them, the more you do the more you'll fall in love with them.

Ahyeon covered Charlie Puth, Dangerously. That blew up Dangerously and the original and the cover song went viral. Charlie Puth was so impressed with Ahyeon that he gifted a song, Like that, to Baby Monster. Watch Like that exclusive performance video. Charlie Puth wrote Like that in 2018 but never released it and decided that Baby Monster had to be the ones to officially release the song.

It is not that Charlie Puth was so impressed that he gave them Like That. Charlie Puth Dangerously actually won him an award at Circle Chart in 2024 although the song was out like many years ago. This is the main reason why he gave BM that song (which incidentally he had already put out in youtube like 8 months earlier). In other words, Charlie didn't write this song specifically for BM.

Ahyeon did the best cover. No wonder her cover went viral eveywhere. Even Charlie Puth saw it and he liked her cover so much that he decided to give BabyMonster one of his songs called "Like That". Ahyeon is so amazing for that. She is only 17 but her impact is crazy already! ❤️

The people with the pen and papers in the audience are producers, dancers, other artists from their label (YG Entertainment), and the exec producer/founder of YGE was there as well. In Kpop, kids/teenagers will often audition to an entertainment company for the chance to debut in a group. If they pass these auditions, they then sign a 'trainee contract', move into dorms, and train under that company for a certain period of time. Not everyone trains the same amount of time, some train for just a few months while others have had to train for a decade. This uncertainty of how long they have to train is why they usually start at very young ages. In the case of Babymonster, their training periods vary from 1 year to 4 years. During these training periods, they have to perfect skills such as singing, dancing, rapping, public speaking, modeling, etc. For things such as singing, rapping, and dancing, they have to perform every month in front of company figureheads like the ones you see in the videos. These performances are usually called 'evaluations' because they get graded based on their skills. These grades are the key factor to making it into a group, so if a 'trainee' has low grades they either have to train longer or they straight up just get kicked from the company. So, out of 20 or so other girls, these 7 were selected as the "best fit' potential members of Babymonster. These covers you just saw were their 'last evaluations' before company figureheads had to choose which 5 girls would make it into the group (tho spoiler, all of them ended up making it in).

interesting, i mean it truly is, because it's kinda rare for someone who usually doesn't listen to Kpop to just directly landed on those 7 covers. while at the same time this video is literally remains as your first ever encounter with this group well, i guess it might have something to do with membership's request or something like that, but regardless for whatever the reason is, i'm glad that a music enthusiast like you got to finally discover such a greatness from these ladies and tysm as well for your genuine appreciation toward their musical craftmanship

So the time of filming, these girls were 13-21 (now 15-22), and despite their young age, they trained at YG for an average of 3.5/4 years, with many of them beginning around age 10. When the name was released, everyone was like oh thats so cringe/silly, but following their debut when more of the GP heard their songs, and in particular their live performances of their songs (they make them sound even better when done live), everyone was like ok yes we get it now you’re right these girls are baby monsters they’re insane. These girls aren’t just good, they’re super rare to be this talented especially at their ages, and most of the industry thinks that they can easily go up against veterans, and should barely be considered rookies. They also debuted at a time when there were big controversies in Kpop regarding live vocals, then these girls showed up and were like lip syncing? Yeah we don’t know what that is (whenever they had to do multiple takes for a performance they did live to get other camera angles, you can see just how bad they are at it). For another example of their talent Asa (ace of the group, her nickname is Acesa) was rapping Godzilla at 14 with ease; she was primarily trained as a rapper and shes insane like already one of the best rappers in the game, but this performance surprised all her trainers and older YG artists with how good her vocals are, like she just whipped this out of her back pocket and everyone’s like what?? They also are incredible dancers, and the goal of YG when putting this group together was to make a group full of all-rounders and aces and he definitely accomplished that. These performances were part of their survival-esque show of them trying to pass this final evaluation after years of training and make the group lineup, called the Last Evaluation. The people in the audience were their trainers, older YG artists who helped mentor them over the years, and YG himself. Many of the girls, including Asa and Haram wrote their own lyrics in Korean for parts of their songs, including the bridge of Haram’s song so that part that you couldn’t understand wasn’t poor pronunciation but actually Korean. They were first introduced to the public with the YG Next Movement video (in which older artists were like you dont even understand how good they are), then each girl had a solo cover from some other point in their training, introduction videos for each girl, and a dance practice. During these performances Chiquita was 13, Rora 14, Haram and Ahyeon 15, Asa 16, Pharita 17/18, and Ruka 20/21. If you want to check out their own songs, I’d definitely start with their absolutely gorgeous pre-debut song Dream, released after the conclusion of the Last Evaluation and member announcement video (gut-wrenching bc down to the last second they acted like not all 7 would be part if the lineup), and it has an emotional MV with footage of their auditions, years of training, and LE scenes. They had Batter Up and Stuck in the Middle, and these videos didnt include Ahyeon because of her health hiatus, but she returned in time for Sheesh and the release of their minialbum, and so that marked their official debut (they didnt do any performances or promo without her) and the album contained re-recordings of the songs with her on them. They released an exclusive performance video for the song Charlie Puth gave them, and recently released the song Forever, which also has a MV. I really hope you react to more of them!

Pharita, (Pronounced Pah-ree-tah...the h is silent). Asa, (pronounce Ah-sah). Asa is from Japan and sings and raps in English and Korean. In fact, she wrote the Korean rap at the end. Her voice has improved significantly since this performance. Rora sings this Lewis Capaldi cover with such incredible emotion and, if I'm not mistaken, she turned 14 just a short time before this was recorded. Rora will be 16 on August 14th. Chi-key-tah, like the banana, is 13, I believe, and she has such an amazing falsetto. Rami (formally Haram), is incredibly soulful is the most stable vocalist with the most control and vocal agility in the group (IMO). Rapper Ruka, now 22, is the oldest at 20 in this performance. Ahyeon (Eye-yon) is covering a Charlie Puth song that went viral on just abut every social media platform. Charlie saw it and publicly complimented her. Fast forward to this year...They released a mini album on April and it contained a song called "Like That" in which Charlie Puth wrote, produced and gifted to the group. These kids are going places.

the covers are not a good way to judge them the first 2 songs Batter Up and Stuck In The Middle only had 6 of the 7 members Ahyeon was on Hiatus due to health. all 7 debut on Sheesh (first song with all 3 rappers) then Like That and most recent song Forever I love metal but these girls won my heart. the covers were during the evaluation series not as a regular song of theirs Like That was like a 90's to 2000 R&B type of vibe.
