This is what happens when the compact thickness in her midbelts is brought to her upperbelts. Sarah’s chest tessitura may not be as high as the natural tessitura of most Soprano belters in the country. Her upperbelts may not be the most effortless, but she can still belt with power and fullness in her upper range using various techniques whenever the song/genre requires her to. Many clips in the video are just Sarah casually being “chesty” with her upperbelts. You can hear the evident thick Beyonce-like quality in her chest tone accompanied with the compactness and the thickness of Whitney’s vibrato. The thickness of her vibrato also makes the overall sound of her chesty upperbelts unique. The evenness of her vibrato is also a sign that she is using healthy techniques. She doesn’t need to shake her head nor does she need to wobble her jaw to create a fake vibrato. Her vibrato is a natural result of proper supporting and placement. Sarah’s chesty mix has improved through the years by the help of proper and careful vocal coaching. As you can see in the video, her head is now facing more forward when hitting notes above E5 in a chest-dominant mix (sign of healthy singing). Her new head positioning makes it easier for her now to project her chesty high notes more forwardly as it facilitates more space for voice resonation. You will clearly see in her upperbelts in “Ikot-ikot (Unified)”, “I Know Him So Well”, and “Natural Woman”, etc. that she was clearly belting with her tongue flat and her jaw completely dropped as her head is facing more forward. This new technique makes it easier for her to produce thicker chesty upperbelts whenever she needs to. Another technique that you will see in some clips in the video is Celine Dion’s unique upperbelting technique but combined with Beyonce’s vibrato (when the song is more soul) or Whitney’s vibrato (when the song is more power ballad). Sarah also incorporates more chest in her variation making the sound thicker, meatier, darker, creamier, and more soulful than Celine’s variation. It’s never really easy for women (especially for skinny/normal-sized women) to produce thick upperbelts. It’s very hard to support a thick chest voice upwards when you are skinny. Only few singers can do that. It’s also not easy to modify the thickness of your mix in high notes. Because unlike in the lows and mids where creating false thickness is just a very easy thing to do, you cannot just easily do that with your upperbelts unless you are using proper techniques. This is why most female singers today have thin upperbelts in general. Even when they are already singing power ballads or when they are trying to do a vocal impression of Whitney, Beyonce, or Celine, they cannot mimick the color and the thickness of Beyonce’s, Whitney’s, and Celine’s upperbelts because of the fact that most of them have naturally thin chest voices and most of them also do not know how to manufacture the quality of their mix. Modifying the color, the shape, and the thickness of your upperbelts is just as hard as supporting a thick upperbelt. It is a very complex technique that requires a proper coordination of the right breathing, right placement, right mixing, sufficient support, and right mouth positioning. Producing thick upperbelts in general whether you are using a chesty mix or a modified mix is never easy. Once you do something wrong & unhealthy with your techniques, your voice will not even be able to reach the upperbelts multiple times. What more with modifying its color? Btw, Sarah’s natural chest tessitura has always been in the middle of a Low Contemporary Soprano and a High Contemporary Mezzo. Her upperbelts are not as effortless as most Filipina belters, but she can still hit powerful Soprano notes using multiple complex techniques.

This is actually why people think na hindi mataas ang boses ni SG kasi still thick ang boses niya even when she's belting notes Eb5 even up to G5. Yung ibang singer kasi when belting upper belts numinipis na yung boses nila. That's also one of her strength actually. She can make upper belts sound thick and/or thin, light and/or heavy.

I really love her thick and soulful vibrato and the Beyonce/Whitney-ish tone when she belts out this way. I hope she sings Queen Bey's "I Care" and Whitney's "I am Changing". She has the thick soulful tone perfect for these songs. Sarah and Klarisse are my favorite local singers. They both can sing like Black American divas without sounding forced and labored. I love the richness in their tones and vibratos. ❤ She's getting even prettier too as she ages.

In addition, ang mahirap when she sings high notes, pag closed vowel ang note she belts it as a closed vowel din talaga. Unlike ibang singers na would change it into an open vowel belt para mas easier for them.

I’ve said this a lot of times, but what i love about Sarah G is that she has the ability to bend her voice into whatever she wants to sound like that also varies depending on what genre she’s singing. She has mastered her voice - strengths and weaknesses - that it’s easy for her to use it flexibly. Sarah is able to sing a whole song using her falsetto - Himig ng Puso, using only her mid belts majority of the song - I Drink Wine, or using her mellow vocals - Paraiso ft Yeng but still manages to go viral and produce an amazing performance. A lot of our “divas” need to belt their lungs out just to get noticed and as good as they are, it’s just tiring to keep hearing belting every show. With Morisette, she sang Cuff It by Beyonce two weeks ago but it wasn’t viral or even noticed because it wasn’t good. she doesn’t excel if the song’s pure pop or mellow. With Katrina Velarde, i looooove her but make her sing I Love You Goodbye by Nina and she’ll belt it out which would make her viral. I love Jona Viray as well but when she sang Ikot Ikot by Sarah G few years back, she even slowed it down but she struggled the whole time with her breathing since the wording of Ikot Ikot is continuous and it IS hard while Sarah G sings Ikot Ikot like it’s nothing and she even made it higher during the Unified Concert. I’m not hating. I’m just pointing out Sarah G’s strength and it’s not always bad to use lower parts of our voice.
