Episode 143 | Kahan Hai Kapur | 365 Days Across India
Angaikot, a village situated in the lap of the mountains deep into the Gurez/Tuleil valley is a beautiful village. The village has wooden houses and settlements on both sides of the Kishanganga river that passes through.
Although the summers are surreal and pleasant, winter time is when things get difficult for survival. With temperatures going as low as -30 degrees, ordinary life ceases.
People with means tend to move out of the village to warmer places, but not everyone has the resources to follow suit.
The place is remote, which also contributes to its beauty, but is in dire need of development.
Since most people don't know about this place, tourism is more or less non-existent.
I, and the villagers, believe that with the incoming of tourism, the government may be invoked to carry out some form of development in the village so that this section of society can keep up to some extent with the fast paced development that the rest of the world witnesses.
What do they need?
BASIC NECESSITIES. Like Roads, cellular networks, a bridge that is not on the verge of collapsing and posing a risk to humans and their cattle, 24/7 electricity and things like that.
I have witnessed the hospitality of these people and they do so without expectations for anything in return. I wish this video comes across someone in a position to ensure speedy provision of basic necessities to the whole of Gurez valley.
Do it for the kids.
