I've seen interviews of people who did the rental girlfriend thing and normally most people do so with the intent of eventually sleeping with the girl. Though, these kinds of things are not guaranteed. I think it's done as an indirect workaround to straight up prostitution, since you don't pay for intercourse itself (which is illegal) but instead for a service. Apparently a lot of love hotels do make money like this. However, it's like going to a massage parlor and expecting something extra. Sometimes it may work but you're probably going to get thrown out almost all the other times lol. I'm saying this because I think it's very important that foreigners don't get the idea that they can just ask for sex or something like that lol
