Rip Mrs Bofill! Fly high!🕊️ I've been riding with you since about several years after the release of this song. I'll be 60 next month. And i still have this album on cassette. My condolences and prayers 🙏 ✝️ go out to the rest of her family and friends.
A remarkable and memorable talent. Beauty. Voice. Performance. She delivered on each and every note she sang. Pitch Perfect!! Our ears, mind and hearts have been blessed because of her!!
Well, well I am right there with you she was just a Beautiful, Unique talent that impacted my understanding of How beautiful and emotional a song can change and charge our lives. She will truly be Misses 😢.
My absolutely favorite jazz vocalist of the 1980s. Angela's gifts were remarkable. She would take your soul on a journey into the depth of the song. I kept this song on repeat for hours and never let go. Rest in peace, precious. You blessed us immensely.
I want to live one day of the eighties again, I would fill it with the music of Angela Bofill, Phyllis Hyman, Stephanie Mills, Jean Carne, Aretha, Whitney, Mariah, Dionne, Patti Austin and Labelle, Anita Baker, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Janet, Roberta Flack, Chaka Kahn, and of course, Luther. That is when music was music. Sadly, the millennials, will never see these people perform live and in their prime, and a lot of us have. "So who's zooming who?"
I get it, you are young, kidding. I listed how much I enjoy a lot of women's voices and that is what I liked about Luther's voice, it was honey toned and beautiful. I never thought about his power, but you are right. @@newera5238
Just when I had started listening to more of Angela Bofill's songs after her unfortunate passing...and then I hear this vocal masterpiece! And then she breaks out SENSATIONAL "scat singing" that would make Ella Fitzgerald and Natalie Cole proud! WHAT?! There was no vocal element she couldn't do! I'm even more in AWE of Angela Bofill! Her voice, so sultry, magical and a 3 1/2 octave range! Ironically, I saw Angela Bofill's episode of "Unsung" on June 23rd for the first time. I did a Google search, hoping to read good news about her recovery from two strokes and was saddened 😢 when I found out she passed away on June 13th. My heart 💔goes out to the Bofill family. Angela, "Your next home will be even sweeter!" Rest in Heaven, Angela! Your spirit, silky voice and musical legacy lives on! 🙏🏾💕♬🎤♬
I loved this song for decades and this is the first time I heard her sing it live. My eyes and mouth were wide open in awe of her flawless live rendition and her beauty.
I always loved the richness in her voice. Saw her numerous times when she came to Philadelphia . She is still in my list of top female singers. I miss her.
Imagine the difference for generations....teenagers growing up hearing songs like this compared to what teens have to grow up hearing today... This is high vibrational music at its finest
@Nupedebonaire07 talent in humans does not go away. Angela was a beautiful and talented woman but there are others who exist today that are also beautiful and talented. Don't let nostalgia close your mind. There is some awesome talent out here, seek it out.
Mostly all the music now is complete garbage with no real substance, meaning or originality. But Ms. Angela Bofill was definitely a brilliant gem and this is most definitely one of my most favorite songs by her and this was a excellent live rare performance she was so very stunning, beautiful and graceful she definitely was gifted from God above.
Her voice was rich, powerful and clean. She had perfect pitch, octive and range. Almost unreal. Most artist have to lipsinc through a performance like this. There will never be another.
Angela Bofill voice could get you in a positive mood jazzy and her classy sound incredible!! Thanks Ms.Bofill for sharing your timeless music and soulful voice ❤❤Richard Shackelford
Angela had a concert at Zellerbach Hall on the U.C. Berkeley Campus back in 1982. For some strange reason, I brought my copy of her "Something About You" album with me to the concert. As others were filing out of the auditorium, at the conclusion of the show, my friend says to me, "Let's go meet her". I'm thinking to myself that we can't go backstage and meet a famous recording artist. Sure enough, we go backstage and met her and her producer, Narada Michael Walden. Apparently, I looked like someone that Narada knew and they let us stay long enough a brief conversation and for her to sign my album. Unbelievable experience for a 22 year old kid. She has always been my favorite female vocalist.
jahawk7 That was a very good experience to you, and very good memories for you! I also like her songs and I live in South Asia. Thanks for sharing! Sorry about the late comment.
This song always moves me because I can feel the truth and emotion in the way she sings the song with that rich voice of hers. No surprise that she wrote it herself. An absolute favorite.
One of a kind talent is Angela Bofill, singer, songwriter, musician, composer, jazz improvisionist/scatter, diva, beautiful, and there are not many like her today.
Losing all our greats 😥 absolutely beautiful with a voice and style all her own. I will forever miss her and will continue to listen to her music. Thank you for sharing you gift!💔
RIP…A beautiful and talented soul. I was crazy about her since I was a young teen. I saw her in concert in Chicago just a few weeks after I graduated from high school.
Remembering singer #AngelaBofill the singer known for her incredible voice has died at the age of 70. She had some amazing songs. #ITry #ThisTimeI’llBeSweeter #TonightIGiveIn and many more may she rest in peace
Angela's scatting was the most perfect form in time and everything I've ever seen! I mean so nice and precise and skillful. Love every minute of this performance. On fyre! Superlative! She is by far one of the best vocalists throughout history and her "phrasing is a definitive school ' within itself. I mean how many times can you say "Wow"! to this performance and her range in every way and method. This is a historical gem. Johnny Carson doesn't even know who he had on his show that night! A Goddess of Song. She might be the best phraser next to the King, Nat King Cole. She is the Queen of Phrasing!
One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists of the 1970s and 80s - this song expresses such a vulnerable emotion of being unappreciated. I hope Ms. Bofill knows how deeply we appreciate her talent.
The mark of a great singer is singing studio quality in a live performance without lip-syncing to a recording. Not many music stars would even attempt a song like this. She is tremendous.
My name is Joe bennett and i can say that I am ms.Bofill number one fan ive been through so much through the years to prove that Angela is not only my favorite singer of all time she is also the most underrated singer of all time
I just heard today that Angela Bofill has recently passed away at the age of 70. I am shocked and saddened as she had overcome so much illness around 10 years ago and was hoping and praying she was out of the woods. God Bless her and the family.
That sends me way back when life was beautiful and I was in 💕 my wife passed on God bless you soul they don't sing like that anymore voice was beautiful and it was heard around the world
She will be sadly missed. I remember looking her up and I was happy to find out she was still alive and well. But it was told to me that none of us are meant to stay here on earth.
I know we won't live on earth forever but I sure do wish Angela Bofill lived longer. I will miss seeing her but I have all of her great albums. I hope she knew how much she was/is admired and adored. ❤
Break it to me gently if you have too tell me lies just don't tell me that Angela Bofil has died. Before auto tune, lip sync & back ground tracks, there was this original true artist ! Angela rest in peace may God carry your soul to heaven..🙏🕊 I had the pleasure of meeting her twice, once in Milwaukee later in Atlanta. She was always sweet as can be. You will truly be missed but your music will carry on! 📢 What I wouldn't do for the love of you ! 🎉 💞 P.S. The album that Johnny Carson showed is called "Something about you" which I have in my living room with her autograph on it, now it brings tears to my eyes to remember that day. She was so young so full of life God bless you for blessing us with all your brilliant talent.. 💔
Imagine… they knew the song was great then… but they didn’t know what we now know… that this song is a timeless classic. This song (and others) are on my regular playlist. RIP Miss Angela Bofill. Thank you for your contribution to humanity.
