So glad to see her so happy, and that she got a standing O! I hope she gets offered an Oscar-caliber role soon, a la Gloria Stuart in TITANIC, and actually wins it. She deserves an Oscar, too! Not to mention an Emmy. How could they not award her for her 14-year spectacular work on MURDER, SHE WROTE or for her other several nods?
You're so right about the Emmy snub for "Murder She Wrote"...Saw her on Broadway in "Mame", in Boston I saw her and George Hearn (they're both dear friends to one another) during the "Sweeney Todd" tour...what chemistry they had...really love George Hearn, but at 82 he's pretty much fully retired with his young family (wife and kids)...I saw George in La Cage in 1984, Meet Me in St. Louis, Sunset Blvd in LA and numerous concerts...what a talent...
What a good career move on Angela Lansbury part who left Hollyweird and landed on Broadway. Like Lucille Ball who took the Television medium by storm. That's Lansbury did to Broadway.
Lansbury has had such a long career. She did start out movies, then started appearing on Broadway in the 1950s. She did random movies in the 50s through the 70s.urder She Wrote in the 80s into the 90s. Going back onto Broadway and random movies afterwards
She turned down Cuckoos Nest it's a shame she would have been amazing she proved she could play an evil person in the Manchurian Candidate her competition that year was not strong and she was long overdue she would have won
No, this was her 5th Tony. At the time she was the joint record holder with Julie Harris. Audra McDonald bypassed them both in 2014 winning her 6th Tony (and winning in each of the acting categories - Best Lead Actress in a Play, Best Lead Actress in a Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Play and Best Featured Actress in a Musical).
