This album got me through an incredibly tough time, and so I can’t listen to it anymore because it makes me cry. But I love this song so much. So I came here to listen to a cover thinking it wouldn’t be Elliott’s voice, so it wouldn’t cut into the deepest part of my soul. But it was so beautifully performed, so gentle and so well done, that it hit me as hard as it does when I hear the original. And I cried a lot. So it defeated the point, lol. But I have a lot of respect for this performance so I wanted to say so. Nice work.
Thanks so much for this comment. Elliott's music is so good at being with people in their sadness, which is one reason why I love it so much. Sorry to hear that you're hurting, and I'll be wishing you some peace in it
Just learned between the bars, but this... this is my new life goal. Thanks so much for taking the time to really nail this down. This has always been on my list of "I'll never be that good" songs, can't wait to attempt it.
Elliott Smith has been my all time favourite for a long time, and I'm happy to see someone putting in the work to break down his songs for others to learn as well, I'm glad I found your channel. You're doing awesome work!
I'm three years late to this video, but I have been watching through your lessons for this song and I am really impressed! You are very talented! Thanks so much!
That transition between the g and d chord in the intro is so simple but complex and hard to get down smoothly. Props to you for nailing this cover(and lesson). Just makes you appreciate elliotts mastery and sound even more.
I spent a few weeks learning this song from Ethan. Finally nailing this song is what brought my playing to the next level. So grateful for Ethan's work here. Amazing cover as well.
you have a beautiful voice -- it carries the tenderness of the original. and your guitar playing is without fault. excellent, excellent, heart-breaking work.
That was amazin man. I find this channel a couple weeks ago and having so much fun learning a few songs from your tutorials. The time you put into them is much appreciated. Also, I don't know if you've ever been told this but your vocal tone reminded me of the lead singer of the smoking popes. Thanks so much!
I was never able to learn this song until I watched your videos. They're all great. On top of that, this cover is damn beautiful. All around amazing work! Keep at it and you'll have a ton of subs in no time, I bet.
Speaking as a huge Elliott Smith fan, I have to say that you absolutely did him justice in this video. Incredible job--this is such a tricky song to play. :)
Truly amazing playing as well as pitch perfect! Your tutorials are incredibly detailed . Keep it up! If you provided a tutorial for every Elliott smith song you'd be my hero haha
Because of this cover I'm going to dedicate the next ? days learning how to play this amazing song like you. Thanks for the cover AND the lessons to go along with it. You did Elliott proud, brother. Truly.
This is so good! Not many people know Elliott Smith's music and to have you perfectly cover this was such a blessing! Thank you!! How about Memory Lane?!?!?
This is great. You play his stuff pretty flawlessly which is difficult because he’s such a good guitar player. It’s a shame he still goes unnoticed, his song writing was next level.
Beautiful cover! I started at your All My Days one and then found this. :) This song seems to come really natural to you! Excellent fit for your play style and voice!!
Storm - abram - far away - sensing owls - the nest - Killing for love...all of them ;) The tunings can get my head in knots before i even attempt anything :)
Ethan's guitar lessons and music Heartbeats has a pretty guitar part that's really relaxing to play. Thank you for this video, I've loved this song for a long time, it's great to be able to play it properly.
Hey Ethan. I cannot lavish enough praise on your lesson series on how to play Angeles. It's been a week now since I first came across it, and it's starting to sound good. I particularly like the meticulousness of your teaching. The tabs. Awesome. The the many camera angles, left hand etc. awesome. All in all this is first rate teaching material. Very good. I have a request also. Could you consider doing a similar video on Bob Dylans "Don't think Twice"? Or at least point me to a /complete/ tab. Great work you're doing.
Thank you very much, you're really inspirational, and I personally think you've caught the feeling. I'm going to learn this with your lesson, thank you again
God dang I wish I could fingerpick this well. I think I got most of the chords down, but that intro is still really difficult. Excellent cover dude! Singing was pretty on point, too.
you really nailed it man.. this gives me hope that i can get there. i have had to re-learn how to properly fingerpick to master this song. i can do it at about 3/4 speed now, partially thanks to your lessons.
